Came here a few times but have yet to write my review. Last weeks experience needs a review. The main waitress really has her act together. Hubby and I arrived on a Tuesday at 11:50am and the restaurant was half full and within fifteen minutes the whole main floor was full, with groups also upstairs. She had the whole restaurant to herself and man did she fill her shoes. My hubby and I would say hands down she is the best waitress we have ever seen. She held her composure in such a stressful situation and never looked annoyed. She met everyone with a smile. She got the kitchen staff involved to help and everyone got their food fast, hot and on time. Such great clean food I returned the next day with my gal group. This gal deserves a real pat on the back. Great job.

I had tofu red curry and liked it, also tried vegetarian spring roll which was great as well. Thai ice coffee was too sweet and have had better ones. Surprised that they didn’t have many desserts, will visit again for the curries. Also, they were pretty quick in their service.

Hmmmmm middle of the road. Will not be back but it was not horrible. Cons: –Ordered a bottle of wine, we were brought a completely different bottle of wine. –Arrived at 7:30 on a Tuesday evening and we were literally the only people in the restaurant. Eventually 2 other couples arrived but it was a little odd until then –I ordered Thaiphoon’s Castle which was a super super small dish for $ 18. I left the restaurant still hungry/hangry ;) Pros: –Really good atmosphere/pretty restaurant –Good service –The food was good albeit small –The entrée was delivered in a cool fashion(picture included)

Whoa, it’s been 7 years since my last review of Thaiphoon which has been way too long. Since then the place has morphed a bit, settling into a more basic interior of mostly mod white. But it still sports a cool front deck, lit bar and open space. Bonus they allow dogs on their small patio and even brought out some water! And Thaiphoon is still doing above average Thai eats for the area for a very reasonable price on Glenwood Avenue. I’m a fan of their stir-fried noodles(pad thai, pad kee mao). I do love their roti canai(fried bread with curry dipping sauce) which is very hard to find in the area. Add in their inexpensive beer and wine and you’ve got yourself a winner! Enjoy this hidden Thai gem in Raleigh for everything it does and does well…

I had a delegation from China visit in June and asked what type of food they liked. They said they prefer Thai food, so I took them to Thaiphoon Bistro in Raleigh. We were seated right away, the service was very good, and the food was as well. I like the wide range of Thai options that are available on the menu. They also have a full service bar. It was nice that the restaurant was quiet so we were able to carry on a nice conversation. I recommend Thaiphoon Bistro.

Have been there this noon for lunch but found closed. After this review people told me they r closed on Mondays. So don’t believe here saying open on Mondays. Check the opening hours on your PC cos I found it is difficult to open their website through Unilocal on iPhone.

Awesome food! Literally one of my favorite places to eat downtown. The chicken fried rice is delicious and their sauces stand out in your mouth! Service can be a bit slow but their management was very helpful.

I’ve only been here for lunch but it’s a great spot for that. For a little over $ 9 with tax(but before the tip), you get your choice of entrée which comes with a small side salad, rice, and a drink. My favorite entrée that I’ve tried so far is their green curry. I highly recommend this place for a tasty, affordable lunch!

My husband and me had Roti canai in Washington DC once and had loved it. We were looking for places in Raleigh which served the same and found out that Thaiphoon does, hence decided to give it a try. I would say this was very different from the roti we had in the Malaysian restaurant, it was closer to an Indian Bhature, nonetheless, loved it !! They usually serve it with chicken curry but if you ask, they will make it vegetarian. My husband’s a vegetarian and we were happy to see the numerous options for vegetarians. We tried the spicy papaya Salad — was very spicy and delicious. However when we went the last time, we ordered again and they had completely messed it up. It was dry, less dressing and too spicy. We had to leave most of it. They had a good choice of Entrees, loved the cellophane noodles, the house curries were yum ! Would def come back here.

I went to eat dinner with a friend and the food was absolutely delicious, spicy, and spot on. I had the Hor Mak Talay and when I say delicious, I ain’t lyin’. Th environment is very modern, low key and has a serene aspect.

I thought this place was pretty decent. I forgot what I ordered as the entrée but it was pretty good and spicy the way I like it. I also tried the papaya salad and was NOT a fan. Stick to Bida Manda for that dish! Would I go out of my way to visit this restaurant again? No. It wasn’t bad, but there’s just other thai restaurants in the vicinity that are 10x better.

This place has gone downhill… we don’t frequent it anymore after the food changed. Don’t know what happened! anyway… meh. and i thought it was so chic and modern on the inside before, and it’s all right, but i wrote that review a few years ago… there’s a lot better in raleigh now. sorry, Thaiphoon!

I always hate writing bad reviews… but I just have to for this one. I called in and ordered takeout to pick up around 6:15 p.m. one weeknight. Finding parking was very hard, and once I finally got in to the restaurant, it was EMPTY. That should have been a red flag, but I had read so many great reviews on Unilocal, that I thought it would be ok. I picked up my food and got home only to be terribly disappointed. I ordered the Tom Kha Kai soup, which I have had many times before at delicious Thai restaurants both in the US and in Thailand! This was perhaps the worst soup I have ever put in my mouth. It smelled and tasted like rotting fish. I also ordered the spring rolls which were served dripping in oil. For my entrée I had the pad see ew, a regular favorite of mine. But, I found this dish flavorless, inauthentic, and the noodles were clearly overcooked. They were sticking together and it was very hard to eat. This food is anything but authentic, and I would highly recommend that you try

Thaiphoon Bistro? Heck yes! I loved having delicious Thai food on Glenwood just before starting a night on the town! With so many American/Traditional restaurants around, Thaiphoon is a great«I want something spicy» choice. The food tastes great and is fairly well priced in my opinion. The portions were perfect for sharing or having a dish for yourself. This place also surprised with their cocktails! I had the Lychee Cosmo Met which was so refreshing and delicious. My husband got the Tom Yum Goang Martini(spelling?) and that was actually amazing! It’s sweet and salty at the same time, and yes the shrimp and pepper go great with it! Don’t let the description freak you out, definitely worth a try! I will definitely be back again and recommend it to others! They even have a stage for a band! Random?! But I’m definitely curious and it’s worth checking out next time!

Imagine my shock at an empty restaurant during a weekday lunch. Do you people not know about the awesome lunch special? From the lunch menu, you get to choose an entrée that comes with rice, salad, AND a drink: soda, coffee, Thai iced tea — all for about $ 10(or $ 12 if you get shrimp). I listened to fellow Unilocalers and ordered the pad kra pow which is essentially the basil, chili, & garlic sauce. For the price, it was an abundant lunch portion with some fresh crunch from the veggies and yummy sauce. No complaints. Come here for lunch during the weekday for some solid Thai food that’s easy on the wallet!

— Very good presentation — Decently fast service — Taste is pretty good. Found it better than Sawasdee — a little costly. A meal for with starters could cost you around $ 70 – 90 for 2 people — avocado mango roll — very tasty — crab Rangoon — tasty but a little chewy — spicy fried rice — awesome — orange duck — Very good taste but duck meat was a little chewy

Had the shrimp pad kra prow and it was spicy and delicious! Lots of flavor and lots of jumbo shrimp… Service-wise. There was a little bit of difficulty ordering and the server wasn’t super attentive. They were confused as to whether we were supposed to get a side salad or not and came back and forth(weird). The food also took a long time to come out. Overall, a decent place for Thai food!

It’s been way too long since I’ve been here, but I stand by my assessment of the food here as being the best Thai I’ve ever had anywhere! And you cannot beat this place for LUNCH! Their Pad Kra Prow is WOW good! It is chock full of fresh veggies, which I just love. Today it was zucchini, green beans, onions and red peppers along with thinly sliced tender chicken, seasoned to perfection with the most wonderful Thai basil sauce. The lunch portion is generous and is garnished with a light salad with tasty ginger dressing, and jasmine rice. My friend enjoyed her Gang Keow Whan(Green Curry) also. All this for around nine bucks each(and that included a drink… I got iced tea). TIP: If you park in the lot next to(behind) the restaurant that charges, they will validate your parking! Just ask your Server.

I don’t have a whole lot of other Thai places in the area to compare Thaiphoon too but I really enjoyed my food here. The green curry was flavorful and had just enough spice. I was surprised they didn’t ask me how spicy I wanted my curry but I was happy with the way they served it. All the vegetables in the curry were fresh and not frozen and the portion was huge. My meal was served with a ginger salad one of my faves. The ginger dressing here was the real deal not those creamy Americanized versions I tend to be served at most Asian restaurants these days. The restaurant has a great contemporary décor with white and orange accents brightening the place up. They have outdoor seating with a few tables on the patio to dine. I look forward to coming back here soon and ordering up some of my other favorite Thai dishes. I’ve heard their noodle dishes are pretty delicious as well.
