The food is really good my only complaint was with the driver delivered to my work he kept asking who was going to give him his tip who was going to tip him. he did not get a good tip that night

Steady-​Eddie chinese take-​out. Good price, lots of food for cheap, tastes about like all the other chinese take-​out you’ve had. Place is open late, people seemed nice. Sometimes it’s a relief not to have to reinvent the wheel, no?

Terrible terrible customer service. We were told our order would be delivered on 35 – 45 minutes. After an hour and five minutes we called and were told the delivery person had not left yet and they didn’t know how long it would be before they got to us. By this time it was close to an hour and 15 minutes. We asked to be compensated in some way and the man yelled at us and said he was going to cancel our order and hung up on us. We called back to confirm our credit card transaction was called and the woman told us she would do it later. This place should be reported to the Better Business Bureau and shut down. Don’t order food from here!

If you order delivery then it will take some time to arrive. Try the hibachi chicken or beef. They provide generous portions of meat instead of all fillers. The fillers include delicious sautéed onions and carrots and steamed baby mushrooms.

This place has great food, terrible customer service. I’ve ordered from them a ton of times and it always takes long but it’ll get there. Then tonight happened.
My wife called at 7:30 and they said they were too busy to take a phone order so could we order online or call back in thirty minutes. Weird, but ok. We ordered online. We got an email confirmation and everything.
An hour goes by and no food. Not odd for them, but we call just to check. They say our food is out for delivery. Ok, we wait.
Thirty minutes later, no food. We call back and they tell us our order was never made. They never received it. What? I know software can mess up, but why’d they say it was in its way? She apologised but offered no resolution. I hung up in frustration. And this is why I’m typing up a one star review while waiting in a drive through line.

Pathetic customer service. I ordered for roasted pork with peas and rice and fried dumplings and was told that that I would have to wait for 10 mins by the cashier. After 40 mins when I asked the status of my order the cashier had no idea about it. Then they finally gave me a package which upon checking only had the rice and the pork. I informed them about the dumplings and started with the lukewarm portion I was served hoping that by the time I’d be through the dumpling would be ready. But wow! They forgot about that too. I had to wait for another 10 minutes or so for it. It was lukewarm bordering on cold again. I’m thoroughly disappointed with the customer service at this place. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Even if you have a lot of time, the food isn’t worth the wait.

We ordered from here because it’s open late. It’s terrible and it took 1 hour 45 minutes after our order time to get. One review says it sticks within the time estimates but we were quoted 30 – 45 minutes… It had no flavor

Got delivery via grub hub and the delivery guy was nice, order was correct.
The food was disgusting. My husband got Mei fun and it was eating a shaker of salt. You could not taste anything. It had meats and veggies in it, but it was all salt flavor. I got hibachi (and I did not expect it to be great) and it was horrible. The chicken tasted and felt like it was grilled last week and left on the counter until today. The overwhelming taste of old dehydrayed grilled meat will not leave me and I only ate two small pieces. The «white» sauce? Orange, Thousand island dressing, seriously.
Won’t eat here again.

Harris Teeter? Closed. Whole Foods? Closed. WalMart? Open… But I would rather slam my hand in the car door than go there on a *good* day —

Order Chinese Delivery!
Realizing this place is near a college campus, I instantly disregarded many of the negative reviews. Food ordered online and delivered until 3:30 AM after a night of keg stands and body shots for under $ 10 pp generally doesn’t rate a Michelin Star…
And knowing in advance the cuisine arrives in a cardboard container tucked inside the variety of bag a bottle of Mad Dog or OE is consumed from ’round a burning barrel…
My only concern boiled down to delivery time, particularly after my last Chinese fiasco.
I called first to make sure they were open due to the weather –Check.
The lady told me I could order online OR call back; I opted to order online.
Within 3 minutes of submitting my order, they called to tell me they were out of egg foo young and I could omit it or substitute something else; Under half an hour my order for *five people* was at my door and that’s *with* lousy roads and bitter cold temps.
Greasy?
Nope.
Hot?
Suprisingly, yes.
Everything we ordered was packed inside *plus* 5 individual utensils packs with –You guessed it! — A fork, soy, duck and hot mustard packets, napkins and fortune cookies was nice suprise. It’s real easy to grab a handful & toss em in the bag. That tiny gesture presumably keeps their costs down yet is a convenient and easy method of literally serving their customers. Kudos to them for that.
4 stars because our egg rolls were mushy and doughy.
Otherwise, perfectly imperfect.

Called in order go delivery at 9:47. Said it would be delivered no later than 10:15. Called at 10:32; told driver was on way. Called again at 11:02; promised in 10 mins. Showed up at 11:29 and NO FLATWARE. I reminded them 2 times!
Hate liars.

Two stars for the honesty of the owner of Shanghai Express. I went there with my friend yesterday, the manager told me that their food is not good enough for Chinese… However, I still gave it a try and realized the manager told the truth.
In a word, don’t ever try it if you are a native Chinese. Trust me!

I’ve always gotten quick delivery and good food. My order is always right and the portions are good value for the money.

Clutch \m/​when you need some grub late. They have always met the standards they advertise and also have delivered with care.

The delivery took entirely too long. The Szechuan sauce is far from spicy. The customer service is nonexistent and awful. I didn’t get part of my order, called to let them know and got put on infinite hold. Raleigh is full of Chinese food places and I refuse to do business with this one ever again.

I have shopped here for almost 20 years even though the food is only fair. My reason was reliable and late night delivery. I have had deliveries to my Garner address, 6 miles from the restaurant for 5 years and all of a sudden I’m not guaranteed delivery. Bad form guys

I have ordered delivery here for about a year and have always continued to call this particular place because it was convenient because they are open later than most place and you can order online. They also have always given great portions for their prices, which are always fair. Their delivery time is fair but could be quicker, but I have no complaints in regards to their food. It is always hot, tasty, and placed in handy Togo containers which seal tight. The drivers are also always friendly and have no problem finding my house. My favorite dish from here is the shrimp Lo Mein. It always comes with a ton of shrimp. Good place to order Chinese food!

As someone who just recently moved to Raleigh, finding a good Chinese takeout place was one of the first things on my list. Unfortunately, the search will have to continue because this place didn’t come close. The rice tasted like instant rice made in the microwave and the egg rolls were burned and tasted as if they had been cooked in day-​old oil. When I walked in to pick up my food I instantly became worried about what state my food would be in and whether or not it would be up to code due to the overall uncleanly state of the restaurant. I would not even contemplate coming here again.

This is my favorite Americanized Chinese food delivery place in Raleigh. The sweet and sour sauce is just right, and the chicken that goes with it is done the right way (not cakey or soft or doused in sauce). I am from Northeastern PA, an hour and half from NYC. I haven’t found Americanized Chinese food this good anywhere else in the South, except for one place I liked in Savannah, GA (Egg Roll King).
Please give them a try! They are always prompt, courteous, and friendly — they even remember us! Though that might be because my apartment is on the third floor… and the hours are perfect for me — I really struggle to wake before noon, and this way if I am hungry late at night (my dinner time), I can always count on Shanghai.
The only complaint is that my friend doesn’t like the corn in the egg drop soup, but that’s simply her preference, I think.
Bonus, it is very simple to order online — I hate making phone calls and it saves me a lot of anxiety — and we have never received an incorrect order. We order from them maybe four times a month, so that is an excellent track record!

Some friends and I called to order delivery and the man who answered the phone spoke broken English and spoke very fast. I gave him my address then started to give him my order. He said something I didn’t understand and when I asked him to repeat himself, he suddenly became very offended and refused to serve me. I had a friend call and he still refused service. I even had my next door neighbor call and order for us and he said that I gave him too much trouble, and he would never serve me. I simply asked him to repeat himself, I don’t understand why I couldn’t be served. What an odd experience.

So you dropped a packet of sauce on the floor. And okay, wait… you’re giving it to me?! Ew, give me one of my stars back.
Sure, the pack of sauce is sealed, but it’s not exactly good to let a customer see you drop something on the floor then give it to them. It begs the question about what else has been dropped on the floor previously.
But, where else am I going to go in the middle of an all nighter or after a drunk night?
