The Green Monkey

I LOVE The Green Monkey! My husband and I stumbled upon this hidden gem a few months ago and we can’t get enough of it. This is one of our favorite places to go in Raleigh. It is a cute corner store that has quite the variety of art (all from local artists), a GREAT rotating craft beer selection on tap and take out and most importantly the best people around town to hang out with at the bar. They also have beer cocktails, you have to try the Monkey Mosa! The craft beer selection is great and reasonably priced; they don’t inflate the price as many of the other bottle shops around town do. They have awesome beer specials on week nights too! The environment is very laid back and the owners, Drew and Rusty, are wonderful! They are so friendly and welcome you the second you walk in, we feel like we’ve known them for years. If you like to support all things local, this place is for you. This shop has art, theatre, game night, beer tastings and so much more! I cannot say enough good things about this place, you will not regret stopping in!

The Green Monkey is a really cool store with a lot of cool unique local art, gifts, and beer. They’ve transformed their space from a convenience store to this cool funky gift shop where they have a beer and wine bar and interesting events. You can come shop for unique gifts and décor or to hang out and drink some craft beer or both. The variety of products is impressive. they’ve got unique local wall art, Christmas ornaments, dog accessories, clothes, jewelry, wind chimes, and so much that I’m forgetting. If you haven’t come in for a while you really need to come back because they have changed so much in the last few months in a great way.

There is always interesting gifts & art in here and they are a good spot to pick up some craft beer to go. If you’re not in a rush, I recommend you stay and have a drink at their new craft beer bar. They have great prices and especially try my favorite Saturday special — the Monkey-​Mosa. I always enjoy taking a walk through to see what new stuff they have out, and I almost always end up meeting cool people and making new friends when I’m in here and you might run into me here… which means you’d meet cool people here, too! ;P *There’s also [soda] pop for those of you not into beer/​wine.
Get yourself a hoodie, sweater, t-​shirt, drinking glasses or one of any of the variety of unique items for your friends and family, including pets! They are pet friendly — my dog loves coming in to say hello and also loves his toy from here!
By the way, there’s also free parking across the street on Hillsborough.

What an amazing locally owned, artist supported store. Let’s start with the selection of gifts — AMAZING! You can get a $ 5-​$ 10 birthday gift for the party you don’t really want to go to, all the way up to the beautiful swanky wedding present at the country club. No Target, ugh it’s already off the registry gift here. While you’re shopping you can consume your favorite beer, or try something new.
As for the negative review on here, check out the other negative posts this same person made around the same time today. Cranky much? You should have stopped in, had a beer and conversation instead of hiding behind social media. No soup for you!

So, what are you looking for? A unique gift? A local, craft beer? A little something by a local artist? A good laugh? Or maybe just a little bit of entertainment… well, then, The Green Monkey is the place to visit! I have shopped here since they were at a little place at the flea market, but they have come a long way, baby! Whenever I am in Raleigh, I will stop by to see what is new. The owners are great and will never make you feel pressured to buy something (I have no idea why you wouldn’t, but whatever).
Since I don’t live there, I still shop online and the service is great. Check them out, they don’t take themselves too seriously and maybe you shouldn’t either. relax, have a great time and SHOP LOCAL!

This is a intriguing store… It’s not your typical corner store at all. They have of course, items you need for your host like some quick food and drinks… but they also have some really cool t-​shirts and the owners are very nice people who are very social with their customers… and they have a back space that they have used for plays, concerts, and coming up in less than a week they will be using to host a MURDER MYSTERY… definitely a place that deserves our support…
