What can I say, small, dark, and loud. Decent size bar, no dance floor! The stage area is very small and there isn’t much room around the stage for fans. Overall, the place is just too small.

I’ve driven by The Maywood a million times and have always wondered what it looked like inside. I had the opportunity to check out a album release party recently and my initial thought is this is a great little live band space. I don’t see much of a reason to come here unless you are going to hear some live music. As I mentioned the space is «little» it’s a small stage and not much room to stand around but I still dig it. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard The Maywood is known for more heavy metal acts then anything else. They had some good drink specials, cheap beers, PBRs, and $ 5 well drinks. If you aren’t interested in the music you can hangout in the other room which is filled with pool tables. If you want to keep a tab at the bar they will hand you a poker chip so hold onto it. The Maywood isn’t really close by anything but if you take that short cut to DTR from Lake Wheeler rd. across from The Farmers Market that’s Maywood rd. and that’s where you’ll find this live music venue. No reason to make a special trip here but if you want to check out some live music go ahead and check it out.

This place pretty much sucks. Bartenders are so SLOW! Literally waited 15 – 20 minutes each time at the bar. The bathrooms are situated in the most inconvenient place… right next to the stage… not mention, there was no toilet tissue or paper towels. They have wasted way too much space for pool tables that were hardly being played on. The location is terrible & the sound system is garbage! What a waste of a Saturday night!

6 beautiful pool tables, great shows, great drink selection, and friendly staff. Very highly recommended!
