ILLEGAL cutting of PROTECTED old growth white oaks in Shelley Lake area was attempted yesterday. I hope for the cutting that took place severe fines will be imposed. Shame on you Young’s. You knew that a certified arborist had to determine the trees are dying or dead (without lying like the HOA did) and that you needed a permit from the City of Raleigh, on any land that is two acres or more. I hope you lose all of your business for taking out the old growth ecosystems and symbol of Raleigh.

Young’s Tree Tech got the job done! I had a single large dead southern magnolia in my front yard, and I called several tree removal companies for quotes. Majority of the companies provided quotes that were rather high for a single tree removal and stump grinding. They said the job is easy, but they have a minimal charge requirement of $ 550. Needless to say, they lost my business because of their «minimal charge».
Derwin Young came out next day to provide a quote. His quote included the tree removal and stump grinding. The price was reasonable, and he said he could schedule me within a couple days. That was a win-​win!
They showed up with a crew of like 10 people and within 30 minutes my tree was removed, stump grinding completed during the same visit, debris cleaned-​up, and they left. Simple!
Many companies do the stump grinding another day or send another company out to perform that work, but Young’s had it all.

Durwin finally returned my call tonight at 8:30 PM. Asked me when I would be available for him to do an estimate. My reply was anytime I can make myself available tomorrow if that works on your end, his response was he couldn’t do it tomorrow, maybe Sunday he could possibly come out! Simply amazing that he is in business with such poor customer service! Told him the trees may be cut down by then he stated he couldn’t get to them until next month! Let him know I was in the process of getting competitive estimates, this seemed to upset him.

I’ve seen a lot of tree services cut down a lot of trees in my neighborhood but nothing compares to Derwin Young and Young’s Tree Tech. A great quote, on time service and the crew and equipment to do the job professionally. Excellent stump grinding and cleanup. These guys come in serious about tree removal. Highly recommended, there isn’t any better.

I have used Young’s twice in the past 12 years. Derwin Young is terrific and his crew is the most amazingly efficient group of workers I have seen. Would use again and recommend to anyone who asks.

I had been putting off having several trees taken down because of concern about hiring real professionals, not just a name off of Craig’s List.
After a friend recommended Young’s, I called for an estimate. Derwin came out, assessed the job, and gave me a fair price. They followed up with a professional, explicit written quote, and there was no problem getting a copy of insurance certificate. After a few days I set up an appointment.
The morning of the job, I thought the 13^th panzer division was rolling in! Derwin showed up with several pieces of heavy equipment and one heck of a crew. I went to work and left my BF to handle it. By early afternoon, I got a picture of my new backyard and couldn’t believe it! They ended up agreeing to take more trees than we originally contracted for because they were all in the same groupings, ground down the stumps, raked and cleaned the area before they left, and left the yard looking great.
I recommend Youngs Tree Tech without reservation and will definitely call them again for any future need.
