I can see why this place is called Unicorn. There’s a decent mix of new and used books, $ 1 healing crystals, and coffee(they serve cups, not full-service). You won’t see another store like it. The store is certainly eclectic with calming music playing in the background. The staff was nice and made nice conversation about my purchases. I picked up Clockwork Orange since I forgot my reading material for the camping trip back at home. It was a nice experience.

Love this place! I called today to see if they had a copy of the book I wanted. Stacy checked and they didn’t, but told me about their online bookstore. As primarily a Kindle user, I asked Stacy about getting the ebook through Unicorn, and she suggested that if I wanted an ebook, I should get it from Amazon since Kindle is my usual way to read. I checked on Amazon and both the ebook and paperback were slightly higher priced than Unicorn. I decided to get the paperback from Unicorn because it will ship tomorrow and the shipping charge was only 99 cents. I saved money and supported a local business. Win-Win!

Eclectic store with everything from new to old books to local artists’ work to jewelry and more. Comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. Soothing music plays in the background. Customer service is friendly. So many items to choose from, it’s fun just to look.

I was very impressed with Unicorn Books & Gifts. In fact, I was torn when I realized that I had to leave and head out for my hiking trip to Cuyamaca Peak as I really didn’t want to leave the store. The staff was great. They were very helpful and full of energy. On Saturday 6⁄13 when I was there they were preparing for a book singing with an author from LA — which is always great to see in a local book store. What impressed me the most about the store was the layout and the variety of new and used books as well as the gifts, jewelry, kids toys, and classic books. Clearly the staff has found away to make their business work and that’s hard to do in today’s day and age with company’s like Amazon taking over all of the market. Unicorn Books & Gifts felt like home, and that’s a great feeling. I love the fact that they have a couch in the middle of the store that you can relax on, and take a look at the books you want to get, or just rest well your kids are still browsing the shelves for the prefect book. I was a little disappointed that the poetry section is a bit lacking, but I can understand that they have to carry what sells. Overall, I’m so very glad to see this store in business and I will be stopping by every chance I get on my hiking trips out east. I will be marking my calendar for October as I was excited to hear that there will be a guest speaker discussing local ghosts and haunted areas which is a particular interest of mine as a writer — I love abandon places and the energy and mystery that they have. Best wishes — Dj

I love this shop. Besides new and used books they carry a variety of gifts as well as handcrafted and vintage jewelry. Their prices are reasonable and the ladies who run the place are lovely. 5 stars!

I absolutely adore Unicorn Books! It is a recently found treasure on Main St, next to the antique shop. I’ve been in several times to browse the used books sections and always walk out with a book or two for myself and my kids. They have new titles at the front of the store, a small area for kids to sit and play while you browse, and the section in the back is filled with gently used books of all kinds. My personal favorite is the bookshelf in the very back filled with antique books! I have found some amazing shakespeare books and medical books from the 1930’s. The owner is totally cool and easy going, she’s a total sweetheart. Another awesome thing is that on Saturdays there is an intuitive Angel card reader and on Sundays, a tarot reader. They offer fun classes throughout the month such as reiki healing, medicine wheel class, etc. You can also find jewelry, journals, and spiritual items throughout the store. If you’re ever driving through Ramona I highly recommend you stop by.
