Nice vibe and good food. Just note that the hours are not consistent with what is on the front door. They were closed twice when i tried to come during the 11am hour on Sunday. Looks like they have changed the hours on Unilocal though.

A unique place to connect with others in a dynamic setting, and raise your consciousness while enjoying your favorite beverage; coffee, tea, smoothie and/or delicious snack. AND they have SpokenWord and Jazz Night! Or relax with a good read, YES they even have an amazing book collection(for in house use ONLY). Kudos to the owner for his vision, he is a pioneer. First experience wasn’t great — coffee was very watered down; however the guy working there added espresso for free and was nice! I was looking for a good cup of coffee that wasn’t «Starbucks» so was a little disappointment. But next time I’ll try their vegan options that others Unilocaled about!

I really really really wanted to like this place but sadly I just couldn’t do it. I even gave it a 2nd chance try. We were actually on our way to the yogurt place next door and saw this café. Decided to go in to an empty room in the middle of our noon lunch hour. The place is clean and nice. The checkered tables are cute and fun. The décor is great also. We took a look at the menu and were glad they served food. I told my boyfriend I would like the fish and chips… He continued to ask the young man at the counter how they were. Our first hint should have been the sour look on his face when he said«I don’t eat that». I pushed him to order it anyways. In the meantime the young man made me a mean mango smoothie. very very delicious(which was why I came back a 2nd time). We waited for what seemed like half an hour and what came out of the kitchen was a cold soggy mess. Frozen Fish Sticks that were drenched in oil. The fries were also very oily and cold and inedible. We showed the sad looking basket of food to the counter guy who took it back to the older african gentleman in the back. They did not hesitate giving us a refund but we were told that they don’t fry anything … and that the food was baked. That didn’t explain why it was cold soggy and oily though. But nevertheless we did get our money back and ended up going to McDonalds for a quick cheeseburger. Our 2nd time back we came back to yet another empty room. The same young gentleman doing homework behind the counter with headphones on. He made me another great delicious mango smoothie. A few minutes after… The African gentleman came in holding 5 boxes of pizza from pizza hut. They sell slices for 2.99 a slice or maybe it was 3.99. It was another sad disappointment. So as much as I love the mango smoothies there I will not be going back. I will not recommend this place and will not even go back for another awesome smoothie :(

I love this place, just looking at the walls makes me want to take a history class and learn more about the past. The Food Is good all the food is prepared when you order it. It’s a family business and the dad does most of the cooking, I have tried the bean pie and it is to die for! If you haven’t had it you need to give it a try. I’ve also had the turkey burger and veggie salad both are delicious. The vibe in this shop is nice and laid back, they have open mic night and poetry reading. I really truly recommend this place to everyone!

I wanted to find a another nice local café, instead what I found was a horrible nightmare of a manager/owner/employee/cook whoever this older man was with his african dress attire, not sure of his work capacity, however he presented himself as the owner. My mother and I stopped in this place to have lunch, and we were looking forward to it since I heard so much about this place, and its close to where I conduct business. As my mom proceeds to go in to the restroom, I am observing the menu so we can prepare to order. Mom then comes out of the restroom, and I intern decide to use the facilities, and wash my hands, etc. While in the restroom, there is a dead critter, near the drain. I don’t do critters, hate them! So I decided to leave this place because at that point it was very uncomfortable. I told mom, lets go! I was trying to being nice and not alert others of the dead critter in the restroom. The rude older manager/cook/owner whoever, came running outside after us, and so I stopped to hear what he had to say. He proceeded to say, the Health Dept. would not like it for guest to come in and use the bathroom and not pay. I told him, I have money to pay, what do you need, here is $ 20.00 dollars to use your restroom, further more, the Health Dept. would not like this establishment having a dead roach/critter in the restroom. He called me an idiot, and other inappropriate words as he walked away. Never will I patronize this establishment!

Staying across the street at a local hotel, I stopped in for a quick bite and ordered an ice café latte and their turkey roll for $ 5.99. The 16 oz iced latte was $ 3 and some change. The ice latte was very good. It was quite refreshing yet boasted a good robust flavor and kick( ). The turkey roll or wrap was good, but perhaps a little under sized. The turkey and greens were fresh and tasted good, and I liked the addition of the green scallions with their crunchiness and flavor. However, I did feel the roll needed more cream cheese because I could hardly feel and taste it( ). The rolled is wrapped in a single cold flour tortilla( ). The couple who runf the coffee shop are very nice. The place has plenty of comfortable seating inside and they provide free guest WiFi. They offer a variety of pies, sandwiches, and coffees.

It’s so hard to find bean pie, especially good bean pie and this place has it! I also had the blended white chocolate mocha which was great. The owner and people working here are so friendly and nice. Hope to get a chance to try the rest of their food soon

Tried the blended mocha frost and the bean pie today. Bean pie=excellent! I strongly recommended it. If you’re in the mood for something both sweet and different, give it a shot. Blended mocha frost was a little disappointing. It wasn’t bad, but it somewhat resembled coffee that you buy from gas stations made from mixing powder and water. Not bad, but it wasn’t what I was looking for at the time. Haven’t tried anything else off the menu, but I will go back to try some of the food and another coffee.

My husband & I decided to try this place after reading reviews. I really wanted to find a nice local café type place near our home. Well, the young girl who helped us should probably not work there. I asked for a smoothie & she said, «oh you don’t want to order that, it tastes nasty & everyone gives it back & asks for something else». So I asked for a different smoothie & she said, «no that is gross too». So I picked a coffee & she said, «I am not good at making that one». Really??? So I asked, «well what is good that you know how to make?» I really wanted to walk out but felt awkward because we were the only ones in there. She then told me she could make me some smoothie… I forget what it was but it was so gross I couldn’t even force myself to drink it. I ended up throwing it away when we left. Waste of money & very uncomfortable service.

I definitely will return to this gem in Rancho! Came here for some vegan food but left with much more. The owner is one of a kind, sweet with a big heart. Everything is made to order so be patient, the wait is worth it. I ordered the Philly Cheese Wrap which was pretty good. And the bean pie is delicious The ambience makes this place special. Somewhere to kick back relax and go back to the 60s/70s. Will come back again soon!

If your in the IE you have to check this place out. You can get your variety of coffees, espressos and assorted teas hot or iced. They also have light snacks and sandwiches with Mediterranean and Vegan flair. This is my 3rd visit and everything I’ve had has been very tasty including the vegan food. The walls are tastefully covered with pictures and mimi-bios of historical contributors from the 60’s &70’s. The owner Mr Butler always proudly sports his dashiki.(I want one!) if you get a chance to talk to him, you will find him a very interesting fellow. Catch up not just coffee also present jazz and the spoken word on various nights. The first time I was here, I was attending a pre-release screening and discussion of a PBS special about the trials of Muhammad Ali. What more can you ask for good food, good drink and social consciousness. Follow them on twitter @catchupcoffee. They also have free WIFI. They are nestled in next to Yogurtland across the parking lot from HomeGoods.

I went to my first spoken word/poetry night last night at Catch Up, Not Just Coffee, and I can’t remember the last time I was moved by someone’s words so much before. I had no intention of actually staying because I had homework, but I was Completely captivated. These people hypnotize you with their words alone, trapped in the rhythm and tone of their voice. I worked up the courage to share a poem from age 14 that I recently found. It was my first time sharing poetry to complete strangers. Kinda like singing karaōke… Only much more nerve wracking. Speaking your work is speaking from your soul, sharing the deepest parts of yourself. The poem brought out emotions that I still have deep down. A lot has changed in 10 years, but most of it is still the same. It has brought to my attention many things, and it has inspired me to get back to my passion and ventilation of my thoughts and emotions through writing and poetry. Life gets you caught up making it easy to lose sight of what makes you happy. The support I received from an audience that had never seen my face before was uplifting. I will definitely be returning next month. I have known about it since I moved to Rancho, but I have never slowed down long enough to take a few hours out of a Saturday to attend. It is better late than never… If you’re still reading this, I suppose I can go on to say that this is the most welcoming coffee shop with a friendly staff that considers you family. They take care of you. Great coffee, great Mediterranean food, vegan food, bakery items, you name it. Free wifi is great for students. They have chess tournaments regularly. This place is not your average Starbucks or coffee bean.

My wife and I stopped here on a whim and were pleasantly surprised by the tasty Wildberry Blast smoothie and the absolutely delicious bean pie. We’re definitely returning for the bean pie, which is something that is not found often in the Inland Empire. The owner seemed like a great guy. He chatted us up during our visit and he’s made it a point to connect with the local community and businesses. Catch-Up Not Just Coffee hosts open mic events, meetings for local entrepreneurs, bible studies, and events with local politicians. They offer coffee, smoothies, baked goods, sandwiches, and salads, along with that heavenly bean pie. I loved how the tables each had a checker/chess board and backgammon board printed on them. The owner noticed we were checking them out and he brought out the game pieces for us. Nothing like a cool drink, the sounds of Marvin Gaye, and a quick game of backgammon to beat the August heat. The café is clean and spacious, especially since there were only a few customers who stopped in during our visit. There’s a 1960s-era vibe to the place, but with the conveniences of today(free wifi). I’m looking forward to visiting again so I can have another slice of that bean pie and play a game of backgammon.
