I want to start. By saying we have been customers and members of their rewards program for years. We know the rules. However, we drove 27 minutes to buy a game for our son last night, because all the store near us were out. When we got there, the only one they had was new, which means it can not be returned. But what was sketchy was that it was already open. We had to buy it new with a piece of tape stuck on it and a sticker that said it was new. This is a good time to tell you that if it WASN’T NEW, the game could be returned for up to a week. After getting it home my son decided he didn’t like it. The next evening after school, he called Game Stop and spoke to an employee. He was honest and said he just didn’t like it, but had purchased it less than 24 hrs ago, as a new game, even though it was already open. That employee said he could get his money back if we could bring it back before closing tonight. We got back in the car and drove the half hour again, and upon arrival, both employees said they did not speak to my son, and that the game could NOT be returned. I explained the call, the fact that we had just come a pretty long distance to be able to get the refund, and expected them to honor what we’d been told. Only then did we learn that there’s another store close by that maybe my son and called by accident – but it doesn’t matter, their policy is to not return it!!! I said I wanted the number to call the other store. I was determined to speak to the man who said if we drove the game back we could get a refund. I asked four different times when finally the difficult guy we were dealing with called the other store himself instead of giving me the number. He proceeded to confirm that it was that store my son had spoken to and said well we can return it because that’s store policy so what were you going to do? He literally stood in front of me and told that employee not to give us the refund(in his own words, of course). I was furious!!! I know the rules, and my son was honest to the employee when he called. If their employee says we can bring it back for a refund, and we drive half an hour to me his conditions, I no longer care about policy. Stand behind your word and honor what your employees tell their customers. I would bet my life we’ve spent well over a thousand dollars with game stop, probably ma y thousands over the years. Was it really worth making a good customer so pissed off over a $ 30 game? GameStop, get you priorities And you customer retention policies sorted out! The person who was so rude and not only didn’t honor what he confirmed what we were saying was true, by calling the other store, the other store, but he went out of his way to manipulated the other employee to do the same. His name is DAKOTA and his store is at 30606 Santa Margarita Pkwy., in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. This guy was a dishonest first class jerk! I will never return to this store because of one guy!

This is a warning to videogamers and loyal Gamestop customers everywhere to consider shopping at a different store location(or better yet, on Amazon). I received less than desirable customer service from the employee who was woking here on Christmas Eve. Since Black Friday, I’d been searching online to see if anyone had the Xbox One Elite controller in stock. My boyfriend is an avid gamer, and I wanted to pick one up for his Christmas gift. Two days before Christmas, the Gamestop website said that this store location had them in stock. Early Christmas Eve morning, I called this location to confirm, and the employee on the phone let me know that they did indeed have them in stock. He took down my name and said he’d hold one for me. I thanked him and let him know that I was driving in from LA and would be there between noon and 1:00. It took me two hours to get down there in traffic, though my parents live in Orange County, so the return drive wasn’t as horrific. Upon arrival, a bit after noon, I found the employee who had assisted me on the phone. He profusely apologized and let me know that he’d accidentally sold the controller(I’m sure it was an «accident»). Frustrated, I let him know that I’d been in the car driving in traffic just to get the controller. He apologized again and said if I waited around for an hour, he’d be able to sell me another one. I was a bit annoyed and wondering where this other mysterious controller was coming from, but I’d driven all the way to RSM and didn’t want to leave without it. He then let me know that the other controller would be new, but not in the box. New, but not in the box? That’s not new. Was he going home to get his roommate’s controller on his lunch break? Was his plan to sell me his own controller and score some extra Christmas cash? I expressed my frustration and let him know I needed it new(and in the box, because that’s what the word«new» generally means) because it was a Christmas present and that’d I’d driven two hours to get there, but the guy just shrugged. Since he’d already sold the controller I’d been promised over the phone, there wasn’t really anything that could be done. I love good customer service — especially on Christmas Eve! This store has strong Unilocal reviews, so the guy that«assisted» me may have been a backup employee they brought in for the holidays. Perhaps no one else was willing to work Christmas Eve, so they pulled in their second string. Either way, he made Christmas Eve quite the hassle. Thank goodness I was able to order the controller on Amazon. It came a bit late, but better late than never.

I’m not exactly a gamer, but when I do bust out the old console I tend to want to upgrade my video game library… The Gamestop in RSM is a great stop to make in finding most games for nearly any console. The staff here are very helpful, patient, and vastly knowledgeable about the platforms and genres. I say nearly any console because they don’t carry what most would consider(with exception to myself) «oldschool» type games; particularly for the console I currently own, the PS2. They once had an entire section dedicated to older PS2 games for discounted prices, and it was vast and awesome, but they’ve moved on with the times and as they should… Walking into the store for the first time in a few years, I felt like a n00b. The cashier was really cool with answering my questions about older games though, and did refer me to a local specialty shop that carries such items. I’m now in the research phase of purchasing either an XBox One or PS4, and since I’m not as hardcore as I used to be in the world of video games I’ll probably be picking up a refurbished console from this location, that is, when my old console gives up the ghost.

I am so happy with the customer service at this location! I didn’t preorder Skylanders SwapForce Dark Edition for WII U and there were none available for sale ANYWHERE on the launch date :( I called ALL of the stores that still showed some in stock(pre-orders of course) and begged that they please take my number and call me IF someone didn’t want theirs… it might happen, right?!? Wade(Manager/Great Employee?) called me yesterday to let me know that he had one and it was mine if I wanted it… OHYEAH!!! I let him know I would be in first thing today(10⁄16) I got there at 10:05am and«precious» was mine! The gentleman that rang me up was terrific too, I feel bad that I didn’t get his name but I wanted to thank him too!(I think I was a little too focused on having the game in my hot little hands!!) Thanks Gamestop… that’s one thing off my kids Christmas list!

We go to this location because the service is so great. Wei and Tucker are so patient and informative. We were there with 6 kids under 9; 4 of them trading games and 4 of them buying games. These gentlemen have such patience and great suggestions. Thank you so much for everything. We are customers for life!

Used game section is decent. Store is clean. The only thing that irks me is when you have store clerks who have no idea about gaming. Asking basic questions about… well…anything. Ended up using metacritic to satiate my drunken Gamestop impulse purchase.

There are Gamestop locations all over Southern California and though I live in LA County, I’m a regular at the RSM location. It’s not that this store stocks better or more games than others, I just happen to appreciate their customer service. The staff I’ve encountered all seem to know the games as well as various consoles. Not just because they sell it, but because they play them too. They’ve all been friendly too. Not just standing behind the counter waiting to ring a sale. This past Christmas, they made it a lot easier for me when shopping for my gamer friends. Only gripe is that parking tends to be tight there when the shopping center gets busy.

I enjoy this place. Bought a few games from here, and my Xbox after my old one died. They definitely push their promotional stuff a lot, including their version of «we want to know your info to offer you low prices» card. But I get it. Overall, pretty good store.

This place has become much better in these days… when I used to frequent this place when it first opened, I was refularly short-changed and given«new» software, and later realized the presence of save files on my «new» cartrige… alas, these days, no longer. This is just a Gamestop for the RSM/Dove/Coto crowd. No reason to come here especially, but no reason not to either.
