Always have had a great experience getting chocolates and other candies I make a trip here at least three times a year. Our whole family loves the molded chocolates and chocolate lollipops. They have chocolates for every occasion or a mold to make your own. They only take cash or check with ID. Everyone is always pleasant and helpful.

Wow. Such bitterness in a candy shop review. Nagels’ has been cash only forever, they don’t want to pay fees or deal with machines. I can get that. Bounced checks cost a small business a lot, I know directly. What it is: a small, old fashioned candy store with melting chocolate and molds, old fashioned items you can’t find elsewhere and some old times policies — and prices. A bag of melting chocolate has been 2.25/pound forever. What it isn’t: a boutiquey, high tough, lots of pushy sales help or automated. It always has a great display of chocolate molds in the lobby — there’s a clue people… (they also own one in Wayne, which has less snotty reviews)

Everything looks like it has been there for years. Nothing looks fresh. I asked for a certain amount of fudge and she gave me double and then made me pay way more then I wanted to. That was really frustrating cause I spent all this money on gross fudge. My friend use to work their and strongly advised me to not purchased ANYTHING made in house. Only buy things packaged elsewhere. Trust me on this…

Fun place to bring your kids and great for getting them holiday treats. Way better than Hershey’s because they don’t use soured milk in their chocolate. It’s not gourmet but a nice old fashioned stroll through local chocolate making history. Bring cash because they don’t take credit cards. My family has made Nagel’s a tradition and hope they continue the business for my grandkids. If you’re a snooty chocolate snob, whiny elitist or chronic complainer, take your private jet to Switzerland lol.

I spent over $ 50 dollars on assorted chocolates. When I asked about the almond crunch being fresh I was told it was. I brought my purchase home, 70+ miles south of Nagels Candy Barn to discover the crunch was not fresh, it was in fact the opposite of fresh, it was inedible. I diligently called the Randolph store to speak with«Mr. Nagel» as directed by the Wayne store where the purchase was made. I have never had the displeasure of speaking with any business owner as rude and obnoxious as this person. Forget about the customer being right, this guy was on another planet, eventually hanging up on me. My advise to any potential customer: BEWARE, THISPLACEISVERYEXPENSIVE, BORDERLINESHADYBUSINESSPRACTICESANDTHEPRODUCTISINFERIOR(STALEANDJUSTNOTGOOD). Expensive $ 50 lesson learned.

Although I have driven past Nagle’s a million times over the years, I thought I’d stop in to buy Thanksgiving gifts for friends/family. I have never been inside the shop before, but have received their candy as a gift before(and trust me, it’s nothing to write home about, but fine for my current need). Even before you walk into Nagle’s Candy Barn you are hit with a large sign on the front door: «Cash or NJ check Only! NO credit or debit cards accepted!» Then, as you walk into the lobby and even before you get into the store, the potential customer is greeted by a second sign on the next set of doors: «NO restrooms for the public!» While the selection is very nicely done and large, this place, like most chocolatiers, ain’t cheap by any long shot(when you consider two unimpressive chocolate covered pretzel sticks cost almost $ 3, one would be hard pressed to leave this shop with what even little I wanted to buy for under $ 100). First of all, I never carry a checkbook, nor do I carry $ 100 bills on me in my day to day gallivanting! What is this, 1957? Checks?!? Really? Well, I have my own sign for Nagle’s Candy Barn: «Sorry. NO sale! And I’ll never come back.» While your selection is pretty enough and varied, you’re candy isn’t tasty enough to be so selective about how you accept payment — even for a large order. I’ll stick with Mangle’s Choclolates in Chester.

Great place for chocolate supplies and special orders. Ask when candies were made before you buy.

I have lived in this area for the past 10 years. I have driven past Nagel’s Candy Barn at least a thousand times. I never noticed many cars in the parking lot, but I figured there must be something good about it. I mean, it has been there FOREVER. Since it’s the Christmas season and my will power to avoid chocolate has nearly gone away, I figured I would give it a try. We brought the whole family hoping there would be some old nostalgic, magic feel to it. The only magic I could sense was it’s ability to stay in business. This place is stuck in time, not a good time. The minute you walk in, it reeks of cheap chocolate. It’s dismal displays and antiquated wallpapered walls have no charm. It’s cash only just to keep that old fashion feel to it. The chocolate that they make on premise costs and arm and a leg. I wouldn’t mind handing over my leg for high quality chocolate, but… their chocolate tastes more like a $ 1 hollow chocolate bunny your cheap aunt might buy in a dollar store. Yes, it’s that bad and I’m not exaggerating. It’s one thing if the atmosphere was so special that eating cheap chocolate could be forgiven, but it was all crap. Unfortunately, it’s a total mess and I’m just not sure how they manage to keep the doors open. Once it closes, I will not be sad to see it go. Yes, my whole family felt that way about it, it’s that bad. If you ever thought about stopping in to see what it’s all about, I just saved you $ 30 for a handful of low budget chocolate. You can thank me later.
