I really enjoyed my meal. The food was tasty, the service was quick. It’s not super expensive. The menu has items for everybody. I will be back.

Our family of four came today for my birthday and had a really nice time. It was early so we were seated right away. Our server, LynneMarie, was so nice and made it such a pleasant experience. We ordered the cheese steak egg rolls and the chicken quesadilla for appetizers. Both were really tasty and hearty. I had the steak tips and it was cooked perfectly. The mash potatoes were buttery and the green beans were nicely seasoned. My husband and kids enjoyed their dishes too. LynneMarie checked on us and made sure that our drinks were being refilled. All in all, we give this location a thumbs-up!

We went to Not Your Average Joe’s on ½/2016 about 7:00 pm. The Resturant was crowded and they told us our wait would be 40 mins. There where 3 of us. After waiting for over 40 mins where everyone that was waiting and came into the restaurant after us where seated we went to check about our status and they said it there where 3 people ahead of us, then we would be seated. After about 5 more parties where seated and once again we where the only people waiting and we where going to leave they brought us to a small table that looked broken next to the restrooms. We asked for a booth(we had passed 2 vacant booths). Hostess was terrible. We where seated at one of the booths and when the waitress came to our table she said that there was an issue with the bread machine but we will be getting ours soon. We placed our order right away because we where familiar with the menu and we where able to peruse it will we waited. We had to ask our waitress for bread for our table after we saw three other tables receive theirs and our waitress kept walking by our table ignoring us. She was really inept, we asked for the dessert menu and she took a really long time to bring us the menu. We ordered 2 cups of coffee and she brought us 3 cups. We also waited a long time for refills on our drinks and she never once stopped by our table to ask us how our meal was even when the crowd thinned out. The only time she showed any interest in us was when she saw that I took taking a lengthy time filling out the review of our experience on the iPhone that she gave us, and as we where walking out she started discussing our desserts with us which was way too late. Usually the service is better, but that experience makes it seem as though we need some other neighborhood food establishments for the New Year.

We ate at/got take out from Joe’s for the past several years. In recent years though, we’ve noticed an increase in prices and a decrease in quality and portion size. They’ve stopped giving the free birthday meal and the food is just not that good anymore. We have officially given up on Joe’s. It was a good ride, but we are done.

The worst location of all the not your average joes ! If your food isn’t cold — it’s not cooked all the way. That just about sums up the service. Most servers are nice. While others act like they really don’t want to be there. Maybe they would be happier working for different location or new job altogether who knows but this place is sad. Pretty below average if you ask me

Came here on a random night with boyfriend. He ordered a salad and I had the steak tips. Both are good, nothing to rave about. I sub the mash potatoes for grilled asparagus(5). i was slightly disappointed with the asparagus and the green beans because both lacked flavor and I asked for it to be cooked al dente but it was cooked all the way through. My boyfriend said the salad was good. the grilled chicken was actually nice. grilled and chilled and wasn’t dry. The drinks were refilled most times without asking. The other reason i didn’t give the overall a 4 star was because service was a little slow. It took over 8 minutes before the waitress came over to take order or ask about drinks. She also placed a dessert menu on our table before we were half way done with our dinner and again the check before we were done with the dessert even though she did mention there was no rush. We felt a little rushed at those points. When we were finally done, it took her a long time to get us cashed out which by then we were waiting to leave. I guess you can’t win them all. lol

Visit 2 was worth the second trip! Our server Rachel was great! The nachos were delicious! A great app to start. We had a blue cheese burger and Gouda grilled cheese with tomato soup to follow. We will be back! Thanks for a great night! Visit1: The food and drinks were good. What really ruined our meal was our server. Minimal service at best: She came to take a drink order and meal order and drop off food only. We asked for refills when our food was delivered and were completely finished before she returned. Furthermore, the manager walked right past our discomfort and empty drinks while our eyes searched the restaurant for our server. I would return to another location but probably not this location again… I wrote this whole review while waiting for our check. … 10 minutes later… It’s still not here.

I don’t usually seek out chain restaurants but came here with the in-laws a few times. Service and food were always great! Steak tips come out perfectly rare, steak and cheese egg rolls(not something I would order) were gooey and delicious, bread with parm/oil is great, kids pizza is huge. Great place for a larger group.

NYAJ is a nice upscale neighborhood spot. The wait staff is professional and responsive, the food is tasty, and the furnishings are well-done, perhaps even a cut above the overall quality of the place. I’ve enjoyed every meal here thus far. It is a bit pricey for the area, but not so much that it sticks out. Still, look to spend $ 80-$ 100 for a dinner for 2.

This gets 3 stars because the food is far above average, but the service is not good at all. Sorry this is a long one… The first time that I dined in this establishment for my birthday dinner in July, the experience was great and the food was amazing. I ordered the Balsamic Salmon and everything from the presentation to the crisp blackening on the fish was perfect. My brother had a steak tip dinner and the clam chowdah as an appetizer, which was delicious as well. I can’t quite remember our wait staff’s name, but she was pleasant as well. Since my first experience at NYAJ was so amazing, I couldn’t stop telling my friends and decided to bring my little sister there for dinner on Tuesday. We were seated at a table without place settings and rushed to order. I had to ask for appetizer plates and napkins for the bread, cheese and EVOO. Our server Christine(I think) seemed rushed and told me that they were getting ready to close when I inquired about her behavior and then brought us the check before we even finished our plates. My sister really wanted dessert, so it was a bit pretentious to think we were finished. She also bad talked the her boss and unnecessarily cursed in front of my sister and I. She seemed like a nice girl, but she was either new or just very unprofessional. I thought it was inapropriate to seat people when you cannot offer exceptional service because you want to leave. I spoke with the manager and was offered a $ 15 gift card. My sister and I returned today to get the dessert that she wanted because I figured that the previous day was just a fluke, but when I got home and checked my bank account and saw that I was charged twice with two different amounts and that my receipt said that my gift card was redeemed as well. The amount that was taken from me totaled more than the two desserts and coffee I bought. I spoke with Dave the manager and he said that was aware of Holly’s mistake and he thought that the problem was already fixed before I left the restaurant. Hopefully he fixed it for real this time. Unfortunately I don’t think that I will be returning to this location, which is sad because I love the food, but it’s not worth the service. Better training is needed.

I’m not one to ever write a bad review but I couldn’t help this one. Server was nice enough but super slow and forgetful, apps and entrees came out at exact same time everything over-cooked and orders wrong. Asked for ketchup and water, she never came back. The food was atrocious. Keep on searching people!

Really not much to say. Servers were 4 stars, food was average and ambiance is that of a chain restaurant.

**EDITED** The Manager invited us back to show us that we could receive good service and a tasty meal. My husband and I went back on Saturday, had a delicious meal and enjoyed the fun atmosphere. We are now clients again, after the manager reached out to us. Great Job GUYS!!! A little frustrated with this chain restaurant. The last Not Your Average Joe’s my husband and I went to was Needham so we wanted to try another one-this time Randolph. Our food took FOREVER, but it was nice to have the manager bring over our meals and explain that it was rung in wrong. We each had a dessert and asked for the check. My Husbands salad, which apparently was the cause of the delay, was $ 19.99. It seemed a little steep for a simple Cobb Salad and it was different then the price on the menu. Our server, Kaitlynn, told us that was correct. I am a little upset that the correct menu prices are not listed online or in the Restaurant. Either way this is my second strike and I don’t know if I am going to be back to experience a third.

The dinner here was, as always, delicious. Our waiter, Mario, was friendly and attentive. Happy birthday to me… thank you Joe. Glad to see the occasional changes and return of past fabulous dishes. The scallops were the best! Followed by lemon tirimis… wow!

This location gets extra credit for being familiar and friendly. We went for a birthday, and had Mario as a server. The wait staff is incredibly friendly and the service is great! Holly and Mario really made an impression :) The food was as expected from Not Your Average Joe’s. We ordered the chicken dumplings which were good even though they were falling apart. The mustard chicken was good, but the special was warm at best. The only really issue was the dessert. Since it was for a birthday for the mom of someone that works there we would have liked the birthday dessert to be on point. Unfortunately the chocolate was cheap and it separated. The caramel was burned and inedible. The raspberry mojitos were amazing! Overall good experience.

I’m a fan of this Not Your Average Joe’s location. The food is tasty & service is always good. If you can make a reservation before you go, it’s well worth it. The line for those without reservations can be over an hour for dinner. I like the seasonal menu changes for the specials. For desert, I can’t resist the«Peanut Butter Thing». I also recommend joining their e-mail club, because you’ll be sent a coupon for a free entrée and desert on your birthday.

We come here once a year. It’s always consistent when it comes to the service, food, and atmosphere. Pizza is tailored to your liking so don’t worry about ordering off the menu. Also the crème brûlée is delicious and the sugar cracks. Yumm.

overall score: 3.5 stars free scali bread and dipping oil: 4.5 stars it is to die for. entrée, meat loaf: 3 stars grandma said it was very plain, just burger. entrée, jambalaya, 4 stars that was what i ordered. it could have been a little bigger, but it was spicy, quite good. service, 5 stars server cody was flawless and attentive. she wanted us to do some survey on a glued phone; homey don’t play that. i review here. she did an excellent job. Unilocal should allow fractional scores as the averages report that way anyway !

Went to Not Your Average Joe’s this weekend with all the gift cards we got for Christmas/Hanukkah. I ordered the Pulled Pork Pretzel Bites(an appetizer), and was very pleased. A bit messy to eat, it came with 4 or 5 «bites». Each was like a bruschetta. A piece of pretzel bread topped with pulled pork, slaw, crispy onions and some green stuff(sprouts? Watercress?). It was delicious, and the perfect portion. I also ordered an Applesauced drink, which had bourbon, apple cider, vodka, lemon juice, and an apple slice topped with cinnamon sugar. It was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend ordered his favorite, the buffalo chicken pizza(it is fantastic). He was also excited to see Sam Adam’s Rebel IPA on tap. For dessert I ordered the molten chocolate cake. It was beautifully plated and came out hot. It’s served with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream placed on Oreo crunches. I could barely finish it, I was so full from dinner. One thing I did notice was that the couples on either side of us both had mess ups on their order, and the dishes had to be re-made. That’s totally frustrating for both diners and waiters(it seemed to be the kitchen’s mix up, not the waiter’s). No fun!
