This place was generally pretty good, but after our experience recently I doubt we’ll be back. We were regulars about a year ago and really loved everything we ordered, but the quality of the food has gone downhill a little bit. My biggest problem with this place was dining here when it was 87 degrees out and they had no AC turned on! They have them, just didn’t turn them on. I’m assuming because they weren’t busy enough. We were so uncomfortable we ate quickly, and I ended up leaving to sit in my car while my family finished eating and waited to pay the bill. How do you run a restaurant in the middle of summer with no proper air circulation? Doors were all closed, one fan was on that didn’t do anything. It actually felt cooler when I stepped outside into the scorching hot sun! This wasn’t the first time we’ve been here with their air conditioning being turned off either. It just wasn’t as hot of a day last time. Definitely a major turn off and we won’t be back because of this.

I love this place. Great pizza and a real feeling of being a local hangout. I am baffled by the bad reviews I see posted. I eat there all the time and am never disappointed. I think my wife complained about the salad once. Great prices too!

Ick. This place is gross… food is generic tasting. Pizza wasn’t even close to being decent. Funny that they call themselves the pizza pub. like they know how to make pizza. Sad. Place is visibly dirty and just grimy looking. Definitely way better pizza places in the area.

Two stars for Guiness, no stars for food. Been here three times — never again. Food was poorly prepared and presented. Chicken Parmesan was dry and was accompanied by The worst, pasty pasta you can imagine. The other dishes were equally uninspired.

Great place to go for a fabulous casual Italian meal without a fabulous price tag. The owner is friendly, extremely accommodating. You don’t want fries with your fish and chips? You can have the sauteed spinach you want instead. Never had a bad meal, but have some fav’s there– the fish and chips, the eggplant rollatini,(to die for), and all the soups and sides of sauteed spinach, etc., are awesome, there is actually tons of roasted garlic in there. The fra diavolo is incredible, more seafood than you can eat at once, and it’s all good. The zuppa de pesce is my hubby’s fav, loves it. He is also really into the eggplant parm, which I also love. And they have whole wheat pasta, so I don’t feel so guilty. Not only is the food quality, it is quantity. DH and I always have a lunch or so from our leftovers. DH says we need to order extra dinners as we leave for days we can’t/don’t want to cook, but no worries. the Pizza Pub allows you to order online and pick up or have it delivered. I do take advantage of this service more than I care to admit to. The garlic knots are awesome, need to steal the recipe. The specials I have tried have always been fabulous, and the kitchen never has an issue with my food issues(allergies & veg). I sometimes have lunch delivered to our home office, and I make special requests. I am every restaurant owners nightmare– allergies, no salt, extra lettuce/tomatoes/peppers/cucumbers on sandwiches/salads. Never an issue, Gino the owner is awesome. Not enough good things I can say about the Pizza Pub, other than keep up the great job, and we’ll keep coming! Or ordering delivery.

I rarely ever write reviews, but I had to so others wouldn’t have the same negative experiences I have. This place used to be a wonderful establishment until new owners took it over. Very unorganized, chaotic, waiting around for an additional 20 minutes after order was placed 20 minutes prior through telephone,(when few people are in the restaurant), mixed up orders, and other dissatisfied customers complaining in store-manager/owner did nothing. Had 2 disappointing encounters since new owners, will NOT be returning again. First time, figured they were still in the midst of making changes through the transitional process-now over 6 months later, same issues. Try Pizza Palace, or Forte’s much better prices and customer service. **Do not be fooled with the positive reviews from the«Pizza Pub website”-guarantee they’re people that work there, or family friends trying to compensate for he true negative reviews of real customers.

I want so badly to have a great restaurant in our area as there are so few. Let me tell you the good news first. The pizza is okay. It’s way better than the prior owner but still not as good as Forte or Mama Cats. Tonight I ordered 2 chicken Francaise, 1 veal Marsala and a Shrimp Scampi. The Shrimp came breaded… yes, I said breaded. I have NEVER had breaded shrimp scampi ever. There was no white wine, lemon butter sauce. It was runny and more garlic and chicken stock than anything else. The pasta was cooked fine. The chicken francaise was slightly overcooked but more importantly, the sauce was runny and no wine and very little butter(amateurish). Lastly, the veal marsala… not sure it was veal, it was tough, the sauce was full of canned mushrooms which I could tolerate if the sauce had any redeeming qualities. The sauce was like watered down brown gravy with brown mushrooms served with a tough, thin meat that is unknown. The salads were wilted… I really want this business to survive but they need to send their chef to cooking school. It’s really disappointing when your bill totals $ 70.00 plus dollars for take out. Connie, the bartender was great, the first Angry Orchard was flat, so she replaced it with a fizzy bottle. She was kind and interested. I am not sure if Pizza Pub can survive on their bar alone… The place was kind of dead at 7:00pm. Please, if you live in the area, patronize them and then give a review, tell them to look at Unilocal. Please help them to make it or to sell it. We need a quality restaurant with chefs that care, not a bar with food to serve This a working family community with Moms that can’t always get home to make their family a nice meal.

Worst food ever i got a baked zitti with chicken mozz sticks and a side salad, Mozz sticks frozen nastiness, My zitti was 90% sauce and under cooked zitti. Romans in Chester will be my permanent pizza spot. They should shut this place down even when we order delivery, They always sent burnt pizza! Give up and shut your doors rude staff terrible food for a heavy price do everyone a favor and leave town i say it more then once because i really don’t like your food quality.

The pizza was very good. Definitely New York style with a sweeter sauce. I enjoyed it. Also ordered the chicken parmigiana sub. Again it was very good. They also have a large selection of beer and wine available which isn’t the norm with the Jersey liquor licenses. The chef spent a minute talking with me and was very friendly. Food came out quick. I highly recommend.

We hadn’t been to the Pizza Pub in almost a year and decided to give it a try again. Things have improved, but not to the point where I can give it a glowing review. The décor has been updated, which was a welcome change. The wait staff was much more attentive and very pleasant. The menu is pretty much the same and still a little on the blah side. The Pizza Pub is a good place to have a family meal with a glass of wine, but don’t expect much beyond that.

We went here for the first time since the new owners came in and we were really disappointed. I ordered a Caesar salad with steak and got a plate of lettuce with over cooked steak on top. The kicker, the dressing was in plastic cups on the side and one of the cups of this generic bottled dressing was brown and congealed(must have been sitting out for days maybe weeks). My husband ordered the skirt steak and got something resembling a London Broil. It was dry and bland with over cooked vegetables occupying the side of the plate unseasoned and not at all appetizing. All in all a pretty bad experience and this was only compounded when we saw that they charged ten dollars for a stuffed artichoke! The service, however, was very good.

Haven’t been here in years. I’m glad that I came back. Service was terrific and the food was excellent. Great specials on the menu. Huge portions. Make sure you get the Garlic Knots. Best I’ve ever had. Save room for an order of Zeppoles. Now that the weather has improved, this is a great place to eat outside.

A friend told me about this place and then it was written up in our local paper. We needed a place to go last Saturday and decided to try here. The empty parking lot should have tipped us off that this was not going to be good. I had eggplant rollentini which was one of their specialties. This was not good at all. The sauce was a little funky tasting(the same sauce was on my son’s veal dish). My wife did not like her veal dish at all, in fact she did not even want to take what was left over home for the dog.

Simple fare, décor and service. Used to be ok for quick escape from cooking dinner for the family but our experiences have become so erratic and the place looks more rundown, we don’t go anymore. Shame.
