Good Latin food. Well priced with committed service. Place had a good problem, which was there was hardly no food or cups. They gave everyone free drinks for their mishap. Great place.

Great portion size and the fact the chicken is dark meat means it’s free range not hormone fill chicken. Chicken is always moist, rice cooked to perfection. I really wish they would go full Peruvian and serve Cuy(guinea pig) I can’t spell it correctly. But I absolutely HATE wasting gas to go to northern Va or DC for some«fancy» chicken that is way over priced and not as good as this. The prices are dirt cheap the food is generous and I don’t have to drive more than 6 mins for it.

Went there for the first time the other day. The staff could not have been friendlier. I ordered the chicken and got black beans, fried yuca, and peruvian rice as sides. Not only was the food delicious, but the portions were very sizable. Will definitely go back.

This place doesn’t even come close to places closer to the city. For the person who said its up there with Sardis is delirious. Chicken is always dry and yesterday’s, the sides are always dry and tasteless. Three separate occasions all have been equally terrible. Drive the 20 minutes to Fredrick and hit up Sardis.

Quite taken with the quality of the food! The pollo was very flavorful and juicy… not overdone, The Aji and mixed well with the Aji verde was quite tasty and went with everything. First time trying tomato and onion salad I was pleasantly surprised. The Platanos are sweet and moist. The fried Yuca was crispy and still tender on the inside without being dry. The staff was fun and polite. My new go to destination for Peruvian Chicken in this area!

Ok Pollo. The food doesn’t compare to a Sardi’s Chicken and definitely doesn’t hold the Peruvian standards you will eat in Peru. The place is ok. The best food they have is their yucca to me. I was excited when Ranson got a Pollo a la Brasa but this place could be better. I think they need heavier foot traffic, so the Pollo is fresh.

I love Peruvian style children but I can’t say that I love this version of it. There was little to no taste to the chicken at all the sides were good but the Chicken left me dissatisfied. I will give them a second chance(usually give a restaurant 3 strikes).

Good chicken, good value for the $$. The fried yuca was hot and delicious. Plantains were pretty good too. They gave us three different kind of sauces, all varying degrees of spiciness. And a lime jarrito is always welcome in my book.

This is a pretty solid place that I hit up frequently. The Family Combo feeds my family for dinner and leaves enough for me to bring leftovers to work. We usually get Peruvian rice, beans, and fried yuka as the sides. I definitely recommend stopping in.

Friendly service, yummy chicken! This is a nice alternative to fast food and a much healthier one. Do yourself a favor. Stop in and try the half chicken with a side or two. The prices are extremely reasonable for this level of quality. I admit, though, I wolf down the skin, which is spiced to perfection!

This place has nothing for me to complain about. The atmosphere is friendly, there are many options and customizations for your food, and the place is CLEAN. The only thing I had to complain about was the food. It tasted very bland and tasteless. It’s not the worst, but I would rather go here than Panera Bread. The verdict: even though the food was a it tasteless, everything else was splendid. Rating: 6.0÷10 +Clean place +Good Service +Customization –Bland/Tasteless food

I hate giving only two stars, but the description of «meh. I’ve experienced better» is pretty accurate. I’ll be looking for an excuse to raise the rating! But right now, El Pollon, just isn’t quite par with the stuff you get closer to the city(the city being DC or Baltimore). The chicken is decent, but in comparison to some of the other Peruvian chicken I’ve had, it’s not particularly remarkable – not bad at all, just not great. The sides really need a bit of work though – quite bland and uninspired; they give you plenty, but it’s a bit of a chore to get through when it just isn’t flavorful. I’ll definitely come back occasionally if I’m around Ranson, but if I’m really craving some great Peruvian chicken, I’ll probably make a trip to Frederick. That said, El Pollon is relatively affordable, and probably a better option than the various fast food chains in the area.

El Pollon=Slightly Dumbed Down Peruvian Chicken Comparatively speaking it’s good food and a good value. For $ 10 bucks you can get 2 Breasts and 2 Wings plus 2 sides. It’s enough for two people if you are reasonable about your portioning. It comes with two sauces: there’s a garlic/mayo and a mildly spicy(at least here) green chili sauce. These sauces come in thimble sized containers which is typical of all Peruvian restaurants not sure why. Ask for two of each. The sides are lacking. Most seem half hearted or frozen from a box. Like what you might find at a old age home or a hospital or a $ 1.99 All-You-Can-Eat-Buffet in Downtown Vegas. Stick with the basics like the fries and fried rice. Yeah the Peruvians make a «Chinese» style fried rice. Don’t overlook the Peruvian Tomato Salad. It’s tomatoes red onion and lime juice and it’s great. For the uninitiated Peruvian Chicken is rotisserie chicken. It has a distinct spice(garlic/chili/cumin) that is more pronounced the American grocery store style rotisserie chicken. The service is adequate and very fast if you get the chicken. If your one of those people who get a quesadilla at Peruvian restaurant, which is like getting a hamburger at a Italian restaurant, you deserve to wait. The store is very clean and modern. In summary El Pollon is a slightly sanitized version of what you would find in N Virginia but still good and a million times better/cheaper than any fast food option and probably not poisonous. Try it it’s hard not too like.

I appreciate that a business like this has opened in our area as we could use more variety. With that being said, I have found that the quality of the chicken and the sides do not compare well to what is available closer in to DC. I will say that the chicken quality and side item quantities have increased since opening. And, at just under $ 15 for a whole chicken and 2 large sides it is a decent value. Given where we are, it is still worth a visit from time to time. To the person who said they had to go to NYC for Peruvian chicken, you could just head down the road to Sardi’s in Frederick. In my opinion Sardi’s is the standard that all other Peruvian chicken joints should be measured against. Bottom line: not great but the only place of its type in the Eastern Panhandle and worth a visit for that reason.

Best chicken… juicy.seasoned.nice change from your fast food chain. The price is great too. with the amount of food that you receive. The sides are cooked in house. so everything is home made, prepared by the family who own the place. You can taste the care they put in it!

Amazing! Everything we had was so good! We love it and will be back for sure and I’m sure you will be too. There was a line but so worth it. Being a «foodie» the only advice I have for them is to get a bigger place so they can serve faster and change the old Jerys stuff to something more fitting.

My family and I often travel to New York and one of our required eats is Peruvian Chicken from Super Pollo. We no longer have to travel to get great chicken. I do wish they offered more Peruvian dishes as there are wonderful choices at other places. But they are off to a good start. I have been enjoying Peruvian chicken for at least twenty years and this place ranks near the top.

I had never heard of El Pollon before until I noticed one upon up near my house. If you are one of those people who wants a menu with a million things to pick from, you will be disappointed. I, however, love this new trend towards restaurants that specialize in one thing and do it incredibly well. I want a pizza place to make sure they make great pizza — not to add junk like subpar chicken wings, crappy dough with sugar thrown on it to pass as a «dessert» or other nonsense. El Pollon follows a pretty basic formula: they make chicken… and they do it very, very well. The chicken is Peruvian style rotisserie chicken. It is well seasoned, juicy, and has nice crispy skin. You can get whole or half chickens, and you can also get a ¼ of a chicken in either dark or white meat. They have a variety of sides, but I love the Peruvian fried rice and their black beans the best. The price is great too. You can get a ¼ of a chicken and 2 sides for under $ 6 and fill up without breaking the bank… and I usually have a good bit of rice and beans left over. Good to see another option in the sea of the usually big box, crappy fast food chains that usually pop up in this area.
