Didn’t live up to the expectation of how the place looks. The different lines to order and pay are pretty badly organized and make me feel like I’m spending too much time doing those things than having a nice meal. On top of that I don’t like the past as much as other places in town. All that combined with the trying to find a spot to park on the street makes me not want to come back.

It’s disappointing that everyone who has reviewed here compares apples to oranges. This is upscale fast food to be sure. You can’t compare that against Olive Garden, Carino’s, Macaroni Grill, or the more high end Italian restaurants. They have pretty good food for semi-fast italian. I agree the payment setup is silly. They need to redo that. We however paid and ordered at the same window when we went so it wasn’t an issue. It was nearly empty when we are at 8:30 in the evening on a weekday in January. I think that the main issue that causes people to write mediocre reviews is that this place is SUPER nice when it comes to ambiance. Way better than fast food. So I think they give off the vibe that you are in a nicer restaurant than you actually are. Thought the food was good and the service was good. It’s a little weird trying to bus your own table with all the nice plates and dishes they give you. I think they either need to go quick service style all the way or go full service with servers and increase the food quality. One or the other would probably do this place a little better justice. See my photos. It helps. I would definitely go back.

I just got lunch here this week. I had a pesto chicken sandwich with quinoa salad. Both were delicious, it was about $ 9 which I thought was reasonable for a big sandwich and two cups of salad. I was pleased, the lady did touch my sandwich with no gloves on, but I’m from the country so that doesn’t bother me too much. I would go back again

After an exhausting search for lunch we ran into this place. It was late lunch and not a person in sight. The food was ok. Portions were small and prices were bigger than I thought they should be. The food was pretty much what I would expect in a mall or something like that. It has potential but the meal and service just seemed to be flat to me. Being empty in an otherwise crowded square at lunch time I should have realized it and moved on.

Poor phone etiquette!!! The young lady had NOCLUE! I felt as though I was literally walking her through the entire ordering process. She said«alright» to everything, but failed to state what she needed next(address, phone number, how will you be paying, she asked me to repeat the entire CC number, I had to ask for my total and how long for delivery). To top it off, our order was under $ 20.00 by less than 50 cents and she made me order something else to get over the $ 20 mark. Seriously, 50 cents! We travel a lot and pizza gets tiresome, we wanted something different and from a place we’d never heard of. The experience on the phone put us off and how she made us feel like we were inconveniencing her for having called in our order. We couldn’t get their online delivery to work(it said you didn’t have to log in to order, but wanted me to create an account. Why create an account if you are passing through…) The food was fine. Nothing to write home about. We were told we would get bread with the meal, nope! We won’t order from here again if passing through. Customer service can make or break it for a place. Just saying…

The resturant inside has been completely remodeled from the previous restaurant that was in the location. The décor is very pleasant, very clean, booths were comfortable, and temperature was just right. Background music was good and level was low enough not to complete with conversation. Staff was pleasant enough and accommodated requests for more dressing and marinara sauce. My wife had Antipasta Salad, which was a very generous in size, very fresh ingredients, and she was very satisfied. I helped her eat some of it and it was very good. We both felt it was a very good value. I had the meatball sub sandwich. It was extremely small. The meatballs had good flavor and they toasted the inside of the roll, but very little cheese and sauce were on it. I asked for a side of sauce and that had great flavor and helped the sandwich out. This was not a good value. Since it was so small, I was still hungry, so I ordered a Margherita pizza. It also was extremely small. The crust(if you want to call it that) was a pita. There was no basil on it. It was soggy. I was not happy with it, especially for 8.95. They need to stop making pizzas, that was really bad. I asked the cook for some basil, and he said that they didn’t have any. I said that’s pretty important on a pizza that only has 4 ingredients. He apologized. We’re local, we may come back for a salad and give them a try on pastas.

This is a pretty good place to grab lunch and chill with a beer. They have a good range of Italian dishes to choose from and they are affordable as well!

Decent food but poor service. I Walked in on a weekend at 9 am for breakfast. A few other people sitting down eating but no employees to be found for 10 – 15 minutes. When someone did finally come and take my order it was definitely an inconvenience to them that I was there.

Returned after my last experience for a second shot now that they’ve been open longer. Gone is the massive traffic jam between ordering and paying. Now the flow is like this: 1. Wait in line to order at register 2. Wait in line to pay at a second register 3. Receive order buzzer 4. Wait at table with buzzer 5. Go pick up food at second register when buzzer goes off 6. Enjoy! My food was good. Pasta primavera with sausage. Came with a small white bread chunk. My wife got the same with chicken and enjoyed it. The other person in our party ordered a salad with no onions and ranch on the side. The salad came tossed with vinaigrette. She returned the salad and relieved a salad with onions. She picked the onions off. It would be nice to see them follow through better with order customization. Also, the two register system doesn’t make sense in this application. You could cut the middle man and avoid the second register by just paying when you order. That makes too much sense though.

They were busy I understand a wait and am not grading on my recent service experience. The food. I ordered a caprese salad. Not good. Tomatoes weren’t ripe my children got a pizza. It was the most dense, tough round slab of carbs topped with marinara sauce and cheese. The crust could not be cut up and one bite, ALLTHECHEESE came off. It was awful. I’m extremely disappointed. Also ordered was fettuccini Alfredo which was rated as Delish.

The cafeteria line situation isn’t my favorite, but you can’t deny tasty food. I would skip it if they’re busy.

This place is really good! Not a lot of options but it’s better that way. You can watch as they make your food which is also fun, I’ve had the cabanara and Mac and cheese and both were delicious

Nice new addition to Rapid City. Sort of urban Tuscany design right on Main Street. Set up as an order at counter and pick up food when ready. Kind of an Italian fast food type of place. But the food was excellent. Correct size of portions. Really nice helpful staff. Prices very reasonable. No single item over $ 10. If you want the gourmet specialty type place, skip Ciao’s. If you like good, basic Italian dishes, give this place a go. Staff is helpful and professional as well as courteous.
