Food was great! A little disorganized when I first sat down but fell into a place. I would suggest different serving sizes. I travel alone a lot and I can not eat a large pizza by myself. Had to take little over half the pizza with me. I’m traveling odds are its going to end upon the trash.

Kōl is definitely a splash of exotic cuisine for Rapid. Their Bloody Mary was decent and fairly priced. We ordered the Humpty Dumpty pizza that tasted great. We also ordered their rack of lamb and it was cooked to perfection. The reason I’m giving three stars is because they skimped on the portion size for the lamb. We got 3 measly pieces for thirty bucks. I felt like they were trying to save a few bucks from their renovation when there should’ve been at LEAST4 pieces. All in all we won’t come back for that reason alone.

AWFULEXPERIENCE!!! We were very disappointed with this place. We went to Kol(ignite) last Saturday to dance and everything was fun at first. However, some drunk guy started pushing my husband, my husband pushed him back(nothing crazy), and in one second some big lumberjack lady(security guard) very rudely asked us to leave. We asked her why we should leave because security didn’t see the full seen and we didn’t do anything wrong. Long story short, the security lady became very physical and she grabbed me. I told her that she can’t touch me and I tried to keep the lumberjack lady from ripping my shirt and that’s when things became very ugly. The other security guys grabbed me(FYI I’m a small girl, 110 lbs.), picked me up, dragged me to the back door, and threw me out on the street.(I still have bruises) One second after that, the owner opened the door to see who they threw out, and then he just shut the door. Ha Ha, I guess I wasn’t important enough for him to intervene. I have never had anything like that happen to me before in my life. I mean, if the owner of this place is aware of how his security guards act, he really should do something about it ASAAP!!!

We ordered the pizza. The order was messed up entirely. This is the worst pizza crust I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. Under developed, no flavor, cardboard. This was the case with all four pizzas that we ordered. The service was slooooooowwwwwwww. Unbelievably so. There were only about four tables so not sure why. I hVe never had a 1200 degree wood oven pizza take 25 minutes to make. We may try Gain as it seems like negative reviews were about the pizza. Hoping the experience will be better by that time. The atmosphere is fantastic, they just need to sort out their service and pizza issues.

Great food, not as expensive as you would think when you see the décor. I would certainly go again. Really cool drinks, I had the beef and bison kebabs(which were GREAT!)

Service was decent but the pizza was loaded with cheese and sloppy. Couldn’t hold the pizza up had to knife and fork it. Just terrible. It’s hard to make pizza dining a chore, Kol succeeded — in my first visit at least.

Kol We visited in late September and were pleasantly surprised finding this upscale bar & bistro/restaurant setting on the main drag n Rapid City. It was eye popping, appealing, & enjoyable. It was coupled with prices that were not seeking to empty your wallet! There were high ceilings in an open setting, along with a totally open kitchen on the far end, centered around a dombe fire oven. Truly designed to please the eye and set a chic, relaxed tone for the evening. Our timing was good in that shortly after we arrived, there were people who sat in cushioned area comfortably enjoying drinks while waiting to be seated. Tappas and specialty pizzas were the main bill of fare. All reasonably priced. Fig salad was good. Really enjoyed the 4 shrimp with the fabulous tomatoes, which kicked it up a couple of notches – sort of stole the show. Also felt that the vegetable pizza hit the spot. Prior to ordering dinner, we were asked about out drink order. I asked if the waitress could bring taster samples of two taps to help with the decision. She readily complied –nicely done. Decided on a lovely local Buffalo Sweet Porter that went very nicely with the items we ordered. Their house chardonnay was also nice. And while we were seated at a table on the outer ring by the windows, there was room available(among the several people) at the long, beautifully apportioned bar that ran almost the entire length of the inside wall. It was an extremely comfortable evening. The staff is extremely supportive of each other, and they all worked extremely well as a TEAM — without being intrusive! After dinner, we shared these positive feelings with Daniel(one of the proprietors – who was actively checking things on the floor through out the night. This is the type of place that would definitely be an extremely successful venue & hot spot in any major metropolitan area. Nice place for sure.

A restaurant with modern style, great service, and delicious, incentive food! A must for date night. The food is creative and amazing… akin more to that found in DC.

Quite a find in downtown area. Seems almost out of place – could easily be in Chicago. Modern décor, beautiful bar, roomy dining room. Great atmosphere. Shared a Margarita pizza which was good. A bit too salty though for my tastes. Roast Chicken was my entrée. Excellent, perfectly cooked and presented. Finished the evening with the pumpkin bread pudding topped with vanilla in cream. More like cake than pudding. Service was outstanding.

Staff needs to with on their appearance. Some look like they walked off the street to work for the day. For a supposed high end restaurant, the staff is closer to a dive bar in standards. But the food is good.

This was the second place on my list of places to try whilst in Rapid City on business. Stopped here because when I drove by it looked cool and beyond my expectations for RC. Very cool interior. Interesting menu. I was not super hungry, but wanted a non-pizza dinner. I enjoyed their buffalo skewers prepared in a wine reduction. I had the side soup– Gorgonzola spinach– amazing! Service was good once the correct waitress was assigned. Interesting beer selection– had my favorite Oregon beer– Deschutes Black Butte Porter. Full bar.

New(ish) bar/restaurant that really doesn’t know what it wants to do best. It’s a restaurant, bar, and nightclub and it doesn’t excel at any of them. The pizza is great and the drinks are fantastic. The problem is that they are out of liquor/beer A LOT. I’m talking bud light, coors light, titos, etc. The service is mediocre at its best. There will be people trying to have a romantic dinner and young people taking shots at the bar, both of which are awesome, but the staff doesn’t know how to handle it. I hope it gets better!

The minute you walk in to Kol you know you’re in a cool restaurant, the décor is modern and chic, the vibe is energetic. We started with the soup of the day which was a beef broth with peppers, it was good. We then tried the pear and fig salad which was also good but could’ve used a bit more pear and figs. We finished the evening with their special Mediterranean pizza which the waitress recommended. Although, again, it was good, but it was a bit dry, there’s no a sauce so that may have been the cause. We had specifically asked that half the pizza not have feta cheese and they forgot. However, the waitress did deduct about 25% of the pizza so we were satisfied. She was very friendly and attentive. Overall, I would recommend it, especially for the ambiance.

What a pleasant surprise to find an establishment that killed on all fronts… food, service, atmosphere, and value. Notorious PIG… just do it. The pork belly appetizers are freaking amazing. The final piece that will knock you out is the pumpkin bread pudding. Suggestion: portions are worth sharing. I bet Kol’s will be the highlight of your Rapid City visit. Say«hi» to Kim from the Porsche Club of America.

Wonderful surprise in Rapid City. Imagination, quality, and presentation worthy of a big city, but not at all pretentious. Very friendly service. Shout out to Colter! We ordered the Brussels sprouts, bison with quinoa salad, beet salad. Presentation was beautiful but disappeared before we had a chance to take photos. Wish them well. We will be back when we’re next in town.

Easily the best restaurant in town in terms of the décor and elegance. We ordered the brussel sprouts– came with red onions and capers Bison skewers were not great– a little tough and chewy Spinach gorgonzola soup was fantastic– very light and slightly cheesy Fig, pear, and goat cheese arugula salad is another great choice– try the fig, pear, and goat cheese together. It’s irresistible. The price is very reasonable considering the ambience. Service was very very spotty. We asked for the desserts menu multiple times but the waitress kept forgetting. Not a good way to make a last impression.

First place we tried in Rapid City and one of the best! Fabulous waiter was very helpful with food and drink recommendations, as well as things to check out in the neighborhood. Everything was wonderful — brussel sprouts, soup, pizza. The next night we tried their sister restaurant Murphys and we should have just gone back to Kol — it was much better!

Jen is a great bartender/waitress. She provides excellent service and knows how to make drinks. We came in for drinks and pizza. The pizza was alright-we enjoyed our drinks. Atmosphere: The décor inside is amazing and upscale in terms of Rapid City standards. Don’t let the atmosphere fool you into thinking the place is pretentious because it’s not. Price: Expensive looking décor equals expensive restaurant and drinks, right? False. Not with Koī; cocktails were reasonably priced and cheap compared to most places which would charge double. I ordered the Blueberry Julep with bourbon, actual fresh blueberries and mint. It was the best drink I have had in Rapid City and I added the drink to my favorite. Service: Jen is the best. Hands down, try having her as your bartender and you won’t regret it.

The atmosphere was upscale, much more than I expected in Rapid City. This restaurant is built upon appetizers or hors d’oeuvres. They do have an affiliation with a Fishhouse; however, in my opinion, they really are about the tapas. Set your expectations on appetizers rather than a full dinner. I tried the pizzas, the three varieties I had were all delightful. We also ordered the beef skewer — it was outstanding. These tapas combined with cocktails came together to make a complete meal. A worthwhile option for dining in Rapid City when you don’t have the need for a full dinner experience. Salute!

My husband and I decided to check this place out for our anniversary back in June. I must admit going in I was a little skeptical but I left a fan We started off with some drinks. My husband just went for some whiskey and tea but I opted for one of the signature named the Bradshaw. It came in a funky shaped glass and was a nice vibrant pink color. But all of that business aside the real information that matters is that the drink was delicious! Nice blended flavors that weren’t overly sweet or overwhelming. The second drink I went with was probably my favorite(I might think about it daily, time to go back?! Ha) it was the White Cosmo! Deeeeelicious! Everything about the drink was so perfectly crafted. All of the flavors meshed well together and perfectly complimented the drink as a whole! It’s a hard decision but I think that might have to be my favorite item of the night. We planned on checking out a few other places that night so for food we just went with the pork belly with sweet potato pudding. Needless to say I could eat this dish everyday for the rest of my life and feel perfectly content! This dish was amazing! Amazingly tender pork belly atop some amazing sweet potatoes. There is no way you could go wrong! I will definitely be back soon!
