A nice find in an unexpected place. The food was very good and the staff were courteous and helpful with our order.

YOTED! I was in rapid, in april 2915, and came across this joint. Being from philly, I had been on the road for 5 years, and had cheese steaks from Cape cod ma, all the way to seattle! I would walk into a joint and say«yo, lemme get a wiz wit!»(Philly term for cheese steak with wiz and onion). Nobody knew what I was saying, but I’d order anyway. Lemme tell ya, they all sucked. So I stopped into philly teds, walk in, some guy walks up and before he can speak, I say«yo! Lemme getta» this dude finishes my sentence, and say«wiz with… nice tags» we wound up talking for a solid hour or wltwo, and TED is AWESOME! A true Philly transplant, just as his steak! If you’re from philly, and you’re in the area, stop by, this place puts Pats to shame!!! Thank you ted, for bringing me back home.

They actually use Cheese Whiz! The staff is friendly. In all they make a pretty damn good sandwich.

Great food, great prices, small dining area but who cares. Way to go, Ted! I always leave happy and painfully full. Keep it up!

We’ve eaten here several times over the years. This place is so good. Always hot and fresh. Everything we’ve tried has been good. They offer a military discount as well which is always a plus. We always take family and friends here when they visit.

When you’re looking for a big, thick, nasty, greasy, buttery philly steak this is the only place to go! The ‘restaurant’ is small but there’s extra seating at the neighboring casino!

Philly, philly cheesesteaks! Messy and delicious, that’s how it’s done! Love the different varieties offered. Just wish it was a little bigger of a «restaurant», but the funny signs are great!

Loved the Philly. I got the Viking, and I’d recommend it. Their chili cheese fries are well done. My wife got the burger and it’s good for the price. It’d be nice if they had more space for dining in. There’s 6 small tables and a tiny section to sit. Not a traditional dine in. The staff is extremely friendly. The manager gave our little girl cookies. We also forgot our bag and she chased us out to the parking lot. South Dakota has the friendliest people. We loved it.

If you are looking for an authentic Philly Cheese steak in Rapid City; look no further. The authenticity blew me away. I ordered a «wiz-with» and was pleasantly surprised to here them ask me if I would like anything else. The taste and texture match Geno’s 1:1. I will be sure to add this to my list of places to stop the next time I am in the area!

Better than what i expected to find in Rapid SD so pleasantly surprised. Its messy and big and they got several different styles of cheesesteaks to choose from. Very small and simple seating. Do have one table outside.;)

I am from NJ, 45 min from Pat’s and Geno’s. Best cheese steak west of the Mississippi. Good bread and real steak. Nice job Ted and staff.

I was real impressed with this place! It’s a hole in the wall kind of restaurant. Small, but they have seating along the side past the cashier counter. There’s a mini fridge with some bottled sodas and condiments(ketchup, mustard, etc). We moved outside to eat because it was a little stuffy, but there are clever signs posted on the walls inside with quotes and funny comments. All of their sandwiches have great combinations of meats and cheeses… Mostly with cheesesteak. It was really difficult choosing! I ended up trying the Panther sandwich– chicken, provolone cheese, bacon, and ranch dressing. The texture of chicken was not what I expected. It was ground into thin pieces but was really moist and retained its great flavor. I made a mess from all of the juices and ranch dressing. It was really good! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

There are few times that we drive out of our way for a place that we find online. But we are from Philadelphia and have lived out West for 6 years now. When a deli claims to serve a Philly Cheesesteak we usually cringe and try it and it’s absolutely nothing like a steak sandwich from South Street, Philly PA. Well the reviews of this place said they actually used Cheese Whiz! That makes for a truly authentic Philly and we made the drive. It’s very small but we did find a place to sit. Not only was this a truly amazing sandwich, the décor was right out of downtown Philly and the prices cannot be beat! $ 8 for a foot long sub full or prime beef and cheese and sautéed onions. Also, we got our toddler the 5 nuggets and fries and they were some of the best deep fried food we’ve ever tasted. And you can’t go wrong for $ 2.75 for a kids meal. Ted came and said hi and talked with us about growing up in PA and also traveling west. This will be a must stop the next time we are in Rapid City.

It’s been 10 years since the last time I was able to eat one of Philly Ted’s cheese steak sandwiches. They still taste as awesome as they were then.

An authentic taste of Philadelphia! The owner, Ted, is a super friendly guy who knows the importance of quality! The Philly Ted’s is basically a hole-in-the-wall. It gets crowded in there and there is not much space, but it is more than worth it. The Cheesesteaks are phenomenal with generous portions of steak and cheese! Philly Ted’s features many choices to pick from including The Colt, a cheesesteak with horseradish and my favorite The Raider, which has pepper-jack cheese, jalapenos, and garlic! Some sandwiches are even made with Cheese-Whiz! Philly Ted’s is so good, I would go out of my way to eat there while driving through South Dakota! Eating at Philly Ted’s is a must! I would even say it is even better than stopping at Wall Drug!

Stopped by for lunch. Not sure why we have never tried this place. I’m regretting that I’ve never eaten here during my past visits to the Hills. It would have allowed me to try so many cheesesteak options. I’ve never had a cheesesteak from Philly, but I have seen them made on Food Network. Ted’s is just what I would imagine a cheesesteak to taste like. In fact, stepping into the small shop almost feels like you are transported out of Rapid City. I had the cheese wiz cheesesteak with a side of fries. It was warm, cheesy, meaty goodness all wrapped in foil(and was HUGE)…just like you would get from a street vendor. The fries were freshly battered and crispy. The owners were super friendly and service was great. We chatted a bit while I downed my delicious sammie. I can’t wait to go back and try some of the other variations!
