Tried for the first time living in Raytown for a year just last week. I ordered the chicken fajitas which is really hard to go wrong. They were tasty, although the rice & beans didn’t have much flavor unfortunately. My boyfriend ordered the steak tacos which he thoroughly enjoyed. The cheese dip we ordered was decent but really did lack flavor — not sure if it was a generic brand or what. The salsa needed salt BADLY an again flavor. it tasted like ground up tomatoes an that’s it. I’m not complaining just being honest. I did enjoy the food but just wish there had been more flavor in the dishes.

We eat here about once a month. We go here often because the service is quick, the wait staff is always courteous and the food and margaritas are good! And it’s really close to our house.

Chile rellenos is excellent. Fresh complimentary chips with no nasty salt to mess up the flavour. Salsa isn’t overpowered by cilantro. Staff are courteous, attentive but not obnoxious, and accurate with orders. Menu is authentic Mexican. No chain food or Amerxican here.

I eat here about once a month. I go because the waiters and waitresses are very friendly and fast. The food is good. I typically get the Gringo Burrito or enchiladas. I highly recommend asking for the spicy salsa and mixing it with the regular salsa they give you. I even like to put the spicy salsa on topic my food to give it a kick as most of the dishes are very mild.

Great food & great service. Plenty of room for a family of 8. Pollo a la parrilla was delicious.

When your waiter never checked back with your table, then doubles the charge on one item and is having no clue what to do, then suggest he find a job he can do. Las Compas consistently falls short, even on portioning.

Service is fast, food is very good. The staff is friendly and we had no complaints about how our orders were handled. We go here like once a month, same quality of service every time. We order their steak nachos and chicken quesadilla — always very good!

I have visited every Hispanic restaurant in the Raytown area, and this one is the best, by far. The chile rellenos are amazing; from the house batter to the filling, they are simply perfect. The décor is what you would expect, with nice ambient music and background noise, but you can easily hear people at nearby tables. This place still has a smoking section, which is rare, but you cannot smell the smoke from the non-smoking area, so it is not a bother. They also have a full service bar, so if you like a margarita with your Mexican food, this is the place to go!

First visit… excellent burrito without the heavy sodium taste I’ve experienced with many mexican restaurants. Great service and prices very reasonable.

I’ve been here a few times. The food here is pretty good and so is the customer service. It seems like they changed the salsa from the last time I came. Salsa isn’t as good as it used to be, but the food is still good. Good place to go on Cinco De Mayo!

Service was fast & the food was ok. The chips not our favorite but ok. The men’s room did needed attention. Was disappointed that the staff didn’t clear the plates from the table when we finished. With so many better choices I doubt that I will be back. Not bad, just average.

My fiancée and I are new to town and have been trying several different Mexican restaurants. Los Compas is a solid choice. The cheese sauce is pretty good. I typically get the vegetarian bean burritos which are smothered in the cheese sauce. My fiancée likes the chicken enchiladas and the flautas.

I stop in here now and again while doing laundry or having my oil changed. Super friendly service — never had a bad experience. The entrees are OK but really the main reason I visit is for the chips and salsa. Ask for the spicy and they bring out this sauce that is the most unique spicy, smoky, citrusy? I dunno. I look forward to many future visits. Padrisimo Los Compas!

Do not go into this place expecting too much and you will come out impressed. Their chips came to the table warm and their salsa was flavorful but had no heat. I recommend asking them for their homemade hot sauce and be impressed by the balance of heat and flavor. I tried their chile relleno and tamale and was pleasantly impressed by the execution of both. The meat was well seasoned and the rice and beans also had great flavor. Their cheese sauce does shine and you can try it for free. You can visit their website for a coupon. I’m looking forward to coming back and trying more of their dishes.

Mr. C and I had Los Compas cater our wedding. Guess what? EVERYONE was talking about the food. We got married on the West Side, aka the Latino area of KC, where Mexican food dominates. People were talking about Los Compas and SO shocked that it came from Raytown. Here is what we ordered for our lovely wedding dinner: Chile Rellenos for the vegetarians(only 10) They were not as crisp as we would have liked them, but you know, it is a chile relleno. The cheese will undeniably always make them soggy. Luckily we made sure that they were delivered with their tasty ranchero sauce on the side. We had Veggie Fajitas, Chicken Mushroom Delight and Steak Los Compas. Veggie Fajitas consist of green peppers, onions, mushrooms and tomatoes. Mushroom Delight is basically the same as the Veggie Fajitas, but with Chicken. Steak Los Compas is their specialty and everyone really enjoyed it. In the restaurant they serve it as a T-Bone steak with onions and bell peppers on top along with a very interesting sauce. It is kind of like Ranchero, but more… delicious? I don’t know how to describe because honestly I’ve never had it being a vegetarian. I know that my grandpa enjoyed it bastante(spanish for a lot) For sides we had soupy beans and okay… let me say this: THEBESTBEANSINTHEWORLD! We have had issues with Los Compas beans being very salty, but these were seasoned just right and nobody was downing glasses of water because of the salt. We have learned that if you are going to order soupy beans over refried beans, you must order them with little salt and NO cheese. This is the way to go. The second side was of course rice. Los Compas hooked us up with chips and hot and mild salsas. Each table at our reception had two bowls of chips for our guests to choose from. I think Los Compas just gave us chips because they come with your meal anyway, like most Mexican Restaurants. All of this was done in Taco Bar fashion and we had lettuce, cheese, sour cream and guacamole if people wanted it. I really like their Guacamole as it is home made and is creamy, but not too creamy. They leave a few avocado chunks in there. They are smart like that! They also use just the right amount of lime so as to keep the guacamole from browning too easily. If you decide to cater with Los Compas, I recommend it. They do not do catering very often and as of yet, they do not have chafers so you will have to rent those. I think if they continue to do catering, they will eventually have service items. They were ready to provide us with plastic ware and all that jazz if we needed it, however, I work for a church and I was able to borrow our dinnerware and silverware. Ask for Lupe, he is the manager at Los Compas and very easy to work with. I think I made him nervous with all the things we needed! Ha, oh well. He delivered a superior product. We ordered enough food for about 100 people and the cost was under $ 900. They didn’t charge a delivery fee, but I think this is because we are loyal customers. We go probably once every other week. Would I go back? Can I have stock in this company??? It rocks! Te amo por siempre Los Compas! Ask for Willi if you eat here… he is the JAM!!!

Puts the«meh» in Mexican food. Ok, that was a little harsh. But I am pretty picky about my Mexican food, and so far, the best place I’ve had is El Patron off Boulevard. So you can use that as a point of reference. Los Compos is the only Mexican restaurant I’ve been to in the Raytown area, so I don’t know how it compares to what’s available out here. However, I wasn’t very satisifed with my steak burrito. Thinking that this is the land of meat, surely they couldn’t do too much harm with the steak… it was tough and tasted a bit strange. And that’s pretty much all I have to say. Beans and rice were standard. They carried the same type of KC salsa that I describe as watered down ketchup. I would come if a group of co-workers insisted on it, but it wouldn’t be my recommendation for those picky about Mexican food.(I say this in all my Mexican food reviews, but I’m from southern California… just another point of reference).

I LOVELOVELOVE Los Compas! I’m a mexican food fan, and this is the place to go! Everytime I go there the service is good, they are quick to refill my drink and always have fresh chips and salsa on the table. The salsa is delicious, and the food is great. My favorite is the Enchiladas Supremas which is a huge plate full of different meat and cheese filled enchiladas. Hubby’s favorite is the steak nachos, with white queso cheese and sliced steak. The best day to go up there is Monday, when the margaritas are only 99 cents and they don’t skimp on the tequila! The food is always fresh and piping hot when it arrives at our table. The best part about this place is the price, I don’t think we’ve ever paid more than $ 25 for our bill and that was with alchohol! Only bad thing is the parking, it’s in a cramped little strip mall and parking can be a pain sometimes, but it’s usually not too terrible. Go if you get the chance!

We’ve made a couple of more trips to Los Compas since my last review(since it’s now the only credible Mexican restaurant near us in Raytown) and I’m trying to order something different every time I visit to see how it holds my interest. So far, so good! The food is fresh tasting and the sauces varied to compliment what it’s served with. Last time I couldn’t find a combo with exactly the things I wanted so I ordered a la carte and had a crispy chicken taco, a tamale, a chili relleno and rice and beans and it was still around $ 12.50 for a whole lot of food. The food and service are consistently good and the more I visit, the more I am A FAN! It’s the place to go for Mexican food in Raytown.
