Terrible. The Staff has absolutely no knowledge of the products they are selling. I am a breastfeeding mother, and I just got back into my regular workout routine. Worried about my calorie intake vs. calories burned, I went into GNC. I walked into the store trusting that the employees would be able to help me. I asked the girl working, Hannah, if she could help me. I explained that I was a breastfeeding mother and that I was interested in a protein shake that would help with my calorie intake, but most importantly something that is safe to take while breastfeeding. She told me about a couple things, I decided to do some research and come back later. My boyfriend and I each purchased a protein shake from the store. As we were checking out, she offered my boyfriend a sample of a pre-workout, he accepted. She asked me if I would like one too, and I told her no, because I am breastfeeding. She said«oh, you can take this too! It’s totally fine for breastfeeding and has less caffeine in it than a cup of coffee.» So, trusting that she knew what she was talking about, I accepted. Come to find out later, that pre-workout had 745mg of caffeine in it and NIACIN and is definitely NOT okay for breastfeeding mothers! I could have poisoned my child, he could have had a heart attack from that much caffeine… Who knows what could have happened. I will never again shop at GNC nor will I trust that their employees have any idea about what they are talking about.

So most of my friends on Facebook and twitter know I’ve been attending a fitness gym in town to lose weight and prepare to run either a half marathon or a full marathon by October. I just got home from GNC with some great products. I haven’t tried them yet but after I do, I will come back and write about that. The thing that made me super duper happy today was their customer service. Anyone that knows me knows that I expect customer service to be set at a high standard. Why? Because I’ve been in customer service and I gave my all to every customer that walked in the store. Today, I got that service at GNC. Tara helped me out. I told her i’ve taken other products before and was curious about new products that might be better. Let me tell you… I knew a lot about cell phones working at AT&T… Tara knows every product in her store! She told me about probably 30 different products I could use and asked me what I was wanting supplements for. I told her and she said«OK, that narrowed it down a lot! Here are the products I would suggest». I was happy that she didn’t try to upsell me. She didn’t offer products that were irrelevant. She simply told me about the products I would need for the fitness goals I have planned. so we get to the register and the total comes to about $ 230. She said«Hang on a sec, lemme see how we can lower this for you». a couple minutes later, the register beeps and shows $ 162.70. HOLYCRAP! Miracle worker I say! She said«No, just taking care of customers. by the way, we also renewed your gold card which cost $ 15 but it saved you nearly $ 70.» OMG. If I wasn’t married, I woulda kissed her! This is the kind of business I hope stays in Red Bluff for a long time to come! All about customer service and making sure the customer is happy. Give me a couple weeks and I’ll report back on the products I used and the results I saw.
