Don’t order online! They don’t access the orders promptly and if they have a question they will not call but wait until you arrive to clarify and then prepare food.

OMG! This has got to be the worst Chinese restaurant I’ve been to in my life! And, I’ve been to a lot of bad Chinese restaurants in little backwater towns all over the US. I’ve been coming through Red Bluff for a lot of years, and I’ve noticed this old school looking Chinese restaurant here. Well, this time I decided to stop and check it out. I was wanting some food to go to eat later at my vacation spot way outside of town. As I open the big red doors and enter, I’m transformed back in time to 1970’s SF Chinatown. There is this big classic dragon archway you enter through. The intricately carved arch is painted in gold and red with accents of green. The interior in sort of dark and mysterious. I’m greeted by a Chinese lady who speaks decent English with out too much accent. She’d have to speak English well, as this is Red Bluff and I think the only Chinese people in this town are the ones that work at Chinese restaurants. She hands me a menu as I inform her I’d like an order to go. Looking over the menu, I see many of the normal American Chinese offerings. Appetizers of Cream Cheese Won Tons, egg rolls and pot sticker… and then something called a Bo Bo Platter. Entrees were all the common things you might expect at a Chinese restaurant that caters to a mostly Caucasian crowd, like sweet and sour everything. Now I’m a white girl, so nothing against Caucasians, but having grown up in the Bay Area with a plethora of real Chinese restaurants frequented my a mostly Chinese customer base, I’ve experienced real Chinese food beyond the Americanized sweet and sour everything, egg rolls and the strange but true cream cheese filled deep fried won tons. One thing I’ve noticed through my travels is the great differences I’ve seen in what Chinese food is depending on geographical location. Like, Chinese food is quite different from SF to Red Bluff to Ohio and the East Coast. You can order a dish you are used to having in one place and it comes out so totally different in another city in the USA! This brings me to the point about Red Bluff Chinese food. One of the things I notice on the menu is all the types of Chop Suey offered, now that’s OLD school! After perusing the menu, I selected tomato beef chow mein($ 9.00) and something that I thought couldn’t be screwed up pork fried rice($ 7.00). She asks me on the chow mein, «Crispy noodles or regular noodles?» Well, seems like crispy noodles sounds fine. In a short while my order come out and the lady rigs me up. I take the big plastic bag containing my two orders, wow! This bag is heavy! The food is packed into 1 quart Chinese food boxes, you know the ones you see on TV when the workers do take out cause that are stuck at the office? OK, I get to where I’m going and open up the bag. Yep, two big boxes and hey, what this? A bag filled with crispy noodles. Not the kind I was expecting, but the pre cooked and dried kind that came with that Chung King chow mein kit you get at the grocery store, the one with 2 cans attached together? Like you heat the one can of sauce and meat product and then dump it on the wiggly worm like noodles. Well, this is what I got to my sad surprise. What the heck are these people in Red Bluff thinking? The big one quart box was filled to the top with tomato and beef toppings. The box actually had way more sauce than it had meat, tomatoes and veggies. The sauce lacked that bit of vinegar zing and was sort of bland. They did give me a whole truck load of food though. So I dump the sauce and little meat on top of the wiggly worm like noodles, sort of fat noodles … Like earth worms! Well, all I can say it was food, but it was not what I was expecting at all. But now, to top off the awful and strange food experiment, the pork fried rice was some of the WORST fried rice I have ever had, and I have experienced a lot of fried rice versions in my days. The fried rice was not«fried» at all, but tasted more like soy sauce flavored rice, and the pork was just added as an after thought. There was no wok seared flavor of a freshly made dish of rice. What they did is they have a big vat of this so called fried rice plain and then when someone orders they just add the pork or chicken or whatever … no cooked to order fried rice here at all! The rice texture was of under cooked rice and the pork was just some small slivers placed on top of the box. Holy Christ on a Cracker! That definitely takes the prize for the worst fried rice I have ever had in my life! I didn’t even finish what was there, tossed half the box in the trash! So, OK, I can say I did try this restaurant that has been here 67 years. I suppose there may be some local people in this town that like this place, since they never experienced any other kind of Chinese food and some how this place stays in business. I do have a soft spot for old school restaurants, but this Peking Restaurant was sooo bad I’ll never return! Stay away!

This is an interesting old restaurant and properly managed, it could be a good restaurant, but it isn’t. It took over an hour to get our food, and the food wasn’t very good. Our server had a full, busy restaurant and no help at all. Not even a busboy. The poor woman was actually running. Whomever manages this place should never have allowed that to happen. If you go, bring a book.

This place has declined over the years, the starting point being when it was taken over by a new owner. You can’t cut portions AND raise prices at the same time. I have seen that woman berate people on her staff(not privately but for all customers to see). The food used to be so good and now disgusting. I literally have seen a cockroach fried into a plate of noodles at this establishment. Enough said!

I feel compelled to write one of my rare reviews… if you see my old reviews it tends to be on very great or horrible restaurants. What I can tell you is that your experience at this restaurant will be unlike others, and it’s not just the incredibly ornate interior that is decorated similar to a chinese palace from the dynasty era; but, the very good service and food… Don’t expect SF bay area quality food or presentation. and if your looking for panda express or that horrible example of chinese food known as PF changs. What you will find here is the most unique interior that you will only see if you go to china and visit the palace’s. The intricate ceiling, large mural wall paintings, authentic lanterns… The layout and presentation of the food is not meant to be a michelin star quality restaurant. It is meant to taste good and in my opinion tastes very good; but, with one big IF … let the owner know you prefer the food to be cooked more traditionally and they will suggest more traditional dishes that you won’t find in PF changs or panda express(not to knock these places b/c i do love that orange chicken). My favorite dish after eating here a few times: Szechwan chicken… hands down best dish. Perfectly fried piece of chicken, bathed in a sweet and spicy sauce that knocks the panda express OJ chk out of the ball park. Order the string beans that are perfectly dry wok fried with garlic, the bok choy… is intensely great. The pan-fried thin noodles is incredible. This place is located all the way down Main st. and if your staying at the hotel off the i-80, go here and not the other places that haven’t been in business for awhile. Overall: Incredible interior, service was good, food was very good. I would rate this place as 4.5 out of 5. I’m asian and from the SF bay area.

Hands down our favorite Chinese restaurant! We drive 45 minutes just to eat there! Szechwan Beef is to die for!!! No one makes it with the flavor and crispiness they do. War Wonton Soup is delicious!!! Best Egg Fo Yung gravy anywhere!!! Just my opinion, I know, but they have remained consistant in their recipes for over 30 years and we can trust we will get the same delicious food every time!

Not my favorite at all. Cream cheese wontons were good. The the pork meat was gross. No flavor and cold. They really pushed for the special, we got it, and it was not good. If you want a good Chinese meal go to Redding’s Peter Chu’s located at the airport.

I was born and raised here and let me tell you, PLEASEDONOTEATHERE! I really wish this owner would give up already and sell the business because the original owners knew what they were doing and it was always packed! The dad passed away which forced the wife to sell the establishment and this place has never been the same since. Always makes everyone in the family including my friends, sick! I haven’t stepped foot in this place for 2 years and will not return until she sells this place and new owners take over! GOOUTOFBUSINESSALREADY!!! I don’t know one local who will eat there. Their food is OLD and GROSS!

I was craving for Chinese food when I visited Red Bluff and I found this place. There was plenty of parking and it opened at noon for lunch time. Fantastic authentic Chinese Restaurant. The food is good and the service was excellent. When my mom and I entered we were greeted right away and seated. That made my mom and I happy as we were tired and hungry. When we sat down, the waitress took our order promptly. For appetizers we had the bo bo platter which consisted of many things. My mom loves the friend prawns. I tried the cream cheese wonton for the first time and it became my favorite right away. The paper wrapped chicken was delicious and the home made spicy chili oil really complimented it. I can’t have enough of the chili oil. The bbq on a stick was good and I even placed it on the small flaming grill that came with the platter to make it even more crispier the way I like it. That was fun. We also ordered sesame chicken which was saucy and tasty just the way I like it. And we had the chicken fried rice which was excellent as well. The food we ordered was a lot just for the two of us so we brought the rest home for dinner. The bo bo platter was scrumptious. One thing I forgot was I should have ordered some more crème cheese wonton to go to snack on during our trip. Overall, I had a good dine in experience here and definitely would come back to this place.

This place will always be my favorite Chinese place in Northern California. Tonight, I ordered the Family Dinner B for five(chicken subgum chow mein with pan-fried noodles, pork fried rice, fried shrimp, chicken wings, and sweet and sour pork), and the cream cheese wontons for my family. The pan-fried noodles were perfectly done, not greasy and did not clump together. The chow mein topping was nice and light with very crisp vegetables. The pork fried rice is always delicious, a classic! The cream cheese wontons were perfectly cooked and sweet, a treat! I hate living in the bay area because I can only enjoy this delicious food maybe once a year now. Always a hit!

If I could give negative stars I would! I went there to meet my boyfriends mom and sister for the first time. We got the bo-bo platter. Yuck! It was cold. I know you are to grill it with the little grill thing, but come on at least have it warm. We all shared the dished. It was Mongolian beef, orange chicken, Szchwan chicken, and fried rice. The rice was old and dried, which rice was an add charge! How dumb. Not even steamed rice came with the food. Again the meat was not hot. You would think since it took 45 mins it would at least be hot. The orange chicken was sweet and that is it. No other flavor. The Szchwan chicken was spicy as heck and burnt. I know it is too be spicy but it was inedible, I eat spicy like crazy. The beef was just plain gross. It has this goo like sauce. It had a very weird taste. Almost like an old refrigerator taste. My boyfriend, his mom and his sister kept apologizing the whole time. They had new owner when we went. That was in Aug 2011. I will NEVER go there ever again!!!

Loved this place! Has a great selection of vegetarian entrees… I had the Sichuan tofu and it was one of the best incarnations of that dish I’ve ever had. Wait staff was friendly and service was great. It was exactly what I needed after a 10 hour drive!

I have been eating at this Restaurant since it was the Ming Terrace. I like their style of Chinese food better than any other. And I have been to Hong Kong(Of course, American form of Chinese is totally different). I especially like the chow mein and fried rice. There has been a time or two where their quality wasn’t up to standards, but what place doesn’t have a bad day? And after 40 years and over a hundred meals there I am a big fan.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in town. The menu is filled with almost all of the standard American-Chinese dishes and the ingredients used have always been fresh. I can’t say the same for some of the other places in town. The ambience is really the star here and begins at the front door. After entering the windowless restaurant you are swept into a world of red and black tones in a beautiful asian theme. It seriously feels like an escape from the world outside. I like to order the MarFar or cashew/almond chicken with brown gravy. It’s not very Chinese but the batter is always crisp and tasty but not too heavy. I recommend sticking to the chicken and pork dishes but it’s mostly out of personal preference because their seafood and beef are solid. Portions are good and the prices aren’t bad at all.

As a disclaimer… this place used to be AMAZING. Now, it’s ok. It really all depends on what you get. The cream cheese wontons are so good. If you go here, please get them. Then mail me one. It will still be better than some of the other places I’ve tried. Other stuff varies. Last time I was up there I had the Kung Pao chicken and it was terrible. So now, I stick with the classics that I crave from LA. Things I recommend: –CREAMCHEESEWONTONS –Chicken Wonton Soup –Sweet and Sour Chicken(also Pork) –Pork Fried Rice –Broccoli Beef The restaurant is cute, very dark and worth a stop. I try to make it here twice on my winter break.

I was really disapointed with this place! The place itself was cute, well decorated, but very dark inside(get some lights in there!) and had a traditional feel to it. The food however was some of the worst I had ever put in my mouth, let alone no where near what Chinese food should taste like. Total lack of flavor, and it was greasy, heavy on the onions and meat was… well. tough and grisly… not a good meal from start to finish. I waited over 30 mins to get my small water glass refilled… needless to say, once was enough for my experience here.
