Red Hook Getty

I just went there (by the way, it’s not a Getty station anymore, it’s a Sunoco, which I’ve told Unilocal about previously) the other day. I had to buy some diesel (I use it for #2 heating oil). And although the machine didn’t hand me a receipt, I almost couldn’t get one inside either. Yes, the line was short, and before the cashier rung up the one and only other person’s order, I «had to» cut the line (I am a bit sorry that I did that, though– I thought the customer was talking to the cashier and not really getting anything rung up at the time).
I’ve always had problems getting receipts here. Whenever I go in there, I always find them pocketing some of the cash I give them (should I, or my family be going there). Like was stated in the Tip for this place, get a receipt to prove that you’ve paid them.

The Getty (now Bestmart) has the best selection of beer and tobacco in town, bar none, and the clerks are always friendly and considerate. It doesn’t look much compared to the corporate glitz down the street, but I go here whenever I can.

Wow, scummy? For a gas station, it really isn’t that bad; it’s just not as brightly lit as the other Red Hook gas station. On the other hand, for those of legal age, it has the best tobacco selection I’ve ever found, even at smoke shops. This includes tailor-​made cigarettes and rolling tobacco. They even sell rolling machines!

Probably the scummiest gas station in red hook. Where drug deals are made, underage kids get alcohol and tobacco. They really need to set up cameras on the outside because these kids are getting away with it.
The staff doesn’t seem to care because they have a bad attitude when you ask them questions.
