The staff are always pleasant and the suites are a nice plus. We always come during the holidays and the decoration and the lobby fireplace are always welcoming. The only change that may be needed is the breakfast but this is probably the franchise standard which I have to assume they can’t deviate much from. The kitchen staff are nice and helpful but the hot food is super salty and the bread quality is awful. Why not partner up with a local bakery or coffee shop with good baked offerings. Allow them labels by the baked goods indicating locally sourced and names of the establishments in exchange for goods at a discount for a win win? The frittata and the biscuit gravy are incredibly salty. Hoping for improvements there as well.

I visited Red Wing on business and stayed at Country Inn for three nights. When I arrived, the receptionist was busy with other tasks for five solid minutes before even acknowledging that I was standing there. She was nice once I got her attention. But I had to ask about the facilities, and she said, «Oh, we don’t get many new customers here, I figured you knew about everything already.» When I got to my room, the thermostat was broken. It didn’t have anything on the display, but it was very cold in the room — I’m guessing about 45 degrees. I called the front desk and she said they do not have maintenance on site, so she had to make some calls. It took about an hour to get it fixed, and then another 90 minutes to warm up. My main beef with this hotel are the curtains. Those plaid curtains in all the photos are just decorative — they do not move or close. So your only barrier between the room and the outside lights are a set of super-sheer curtains. My room faced the Smokin’ Oak restaurant in the parking lot, and their building is pretty bright. And anytime anyone pulled into the parking lot, their headlights flashed across my bed. There was no point in the night in which my room was actually dark. It was very difficult to sleep. The staff said all the rooms are the same. In addition to the sleeping issue, the super sheer curtains also mean that you are on full display in your room if your lamp is on. I saw more than one nude/dressing person near their window when I was outside the hotel.

Nice rooms, very quite location. Everyone was friendly, place to eat right next door, didn’t arrive early enough to try it out. Will stay again.

Not a worthy of 5 stars. Hotel adequate but not exceptional. Breakfast limited and usual hotel fare, nothing more. Staff were not aware no silverware or coffee during breakfast hours. Coffee is awful. Rooms acceptable, not great. Room was not cleaned one day. While I had a do not disturb out, I removed it before 9a. I am a frequent business traveler and often work until I leave in the am. Staff are polite, but there is clear guest favoritism. I would not recommend without qualifying. A Country Inn that deserves 5 star is in Big Rapids, MI.

What a great hotel! The breakfast was tasty and the rooms were very clean and spacious. But I cannot say enough about the staff. They greeted us every time we walked through the lobby. They were very helpful with helping us with directions and recommending local restaurants. We stayed for 2 nights and had no problems! I believe Kendra, Michelle, and Linda were the ones that helped us during our stay. Great staff– so kind and friendly!
