Bam, hidden Gem here in Redding Ca, this is the kill when it comes to bagels, there hella fresh, the dude Mike makes them by hand every day and he serves them up with the quickness and there is no other bagel place up here like it. Especially not as good, the place is a super old school bagel deli, hella personal and chill when you walk in its not much for atmosphere or hangin out but we go there for the bomb sauce bagels yo.

My husband and I were craving bagels so we decided to head out into Redding on a late rainy Saturday morning. I had read a few reviews about the bagel deli but hadn’t had a chance to try it yet. When trying anything new I always approach with an open mind. At first glance the small little corner business is dark and not the newest of interior… but again I kept an open mind. We arrived at the little deli after 11 so there was nothing left in the case and all remaining bagels had been neatly bagged up for sale at half price. The owner immediately informed us of what flavors he had left and offered to toast up our selection. I went with the onion bagel toasted with cream cheese and my husband went with the jalapeño and cheese bagel toasted with cream cheese. To put it simply… the bagels were amazing. The texture was perfect, the flavors phenomenal and the cream cheese had poppy seeds and a savory flavor of its own. My husband and I were very pleased and full as these bagels are not petite in size. Oh, and if your expecting the normal appearing bagel with a hole in the center, then you’re in for a surprise . The biggest critic in our family is our 13 year old daughter, she despises all foods unless its plain chicken and white rice. We took her home the chocolate filled bagel and she loved it, now that’s saying something!

Great bagels, fresh baked, but they’re more like little bread loaves. The owner has a pretty decent selection if you get in there before he sells out. Nice menu, and he can even make things not in the menu(just gotta ask; this guy can make pretty much any bagel sandwich).

Nothing special. I came here around 12:30 pm. It was unsure if the place was even open. It was very dark and quiet. There were no lights on in the building except back in the kitchen. The set up was quite awkward too. There were a few tables that had table cloths on them… similar to what some of the run down Chinese restaurants do in effort to appear fancy. On the positive side of things, the menu was actually decent. It seemed to have a lot to choose from. I felt like the prices were fair. If you’re coming here expecting a typical bagel place… this one is a little different. It’s definitely a bagel… but it’s more like a bagel blob. Basically some bagel dough that was rolled into a ball and baked. It doesn’t even have a hole in the center. It also appears that the bagel are stuffed??? The restaurant was just all around awkward and a little odd. The food was decent… nothing to rave about.

The last time I came here was about 20 years ago and I didn’t really remember much about it. I was out running errands and craving a bagel with cream cheese so I checked Unilocal to see what was the closest to where I was at the time. I didn’t want to go all the way to Manhatten Bagel(which was honestly the only place that came to mind) so I tried this place out! Being a bit later in the morning, the place was dead. The bagel selection was pretty bare so I asked if that was all they had. The super friendly owner said he’d hook me up so he went in the back to check out what they had. I ended up going with something potent and savory: the Jalapeño Cheddar bagel with Chive cream cheese. He toasted it for me, put the cream cheese on the side like I requested, and I was on my merry way. To my surprise, when I looked in the bag, the bagel was without a hole! I have never seen such a thing. :)(I thought the few in the display case were some other offering, like a roll or something.) It was super tasty: spongy, but dense. The jalapeño baked into it gave it the perfect flavor. I will definitely keep them in mind when I need my bagel fix. Support the local guy!

Love the Bagels. They are a little more like bread style bagels then some homemade bagels I have had but still enjoy them a bunch. I like the Blueberry but the Jalapeño and cheese is the best if you are doing a breakfast sandwich. Love the size and price glad to see a small shop still make it in the big business day. MUCHMUCHMUCH better and cheaper then the chain bagel shop I see a lot more foot traffic at, possibly his location.

Synopsis: Underwhelming. Friendly staff but it doesn’t make up for a mediocre bagel, no selection and odd, uncomfortable dining area. Full Review: Hubby and I were craving a high carb fix and bagels are our go-to nosh! Imagine then the dissappointment felt when there were almost no bagels in the case at 9:30 A.M. Seriously? So that could mean they are really good and they sold out, right? Well then where were all the customers? When we sat down and were served bagels in filthy, dirty baskets the answer became clear. The bagels are stored in plastic bags behind the counter and are no more fresh than the grocery store variety. Save your time and your carb count and keep looking. We are.

Delicious bagels without holes. The variety is great. My favorite is the cheese & jalapeño. By far superior compared to Manhattan Bagel. I gave them 4 stars simply because if you go in after 10am the selection is usually limited. They sell out of my favorites fast.

I’m a big bagel fan and was excited to discover we have a local fresh bagel shop! Bagels are pretty good and the service is fast and friendly. The fact that they’re located on my way to work is even better ;) glad I discovered them!

Not the kind of bagel I’m use to. I found this place on Unilocal and decided to grab a bagel before I hit the road. From the outside it looks like an old Chinese restaurant, definitely not a deli. You can’t really see inside, so I was already skeptical. Went in around 10:45am and there were only a few bagels to choose from. Looks like he was ready to close up shop. I got a plain bagel and strawberry cream cheese. Very basic compared to what I normally like but I’ll take what I can get. Got on the road and opened up the package and my bagel fell right in my lap. It was a sloppy mess. It wasn’t strawberry cream cheese. It was cream cheese that had more like a sour cream consistency with strawberry jam. Not what I ordered. It was dripping«cream» everywhere. I had to stop somewhere and change and still wasn’t able to get my bagel fix. Next time instead of being in a rush, I will look for a more well known bagel place where I know I can get what I want. A waste of time, my clean clothes and I’m still hungry. No Bueno!!!

Fast and friendly service and fresh bagels. The bagel sandwiches are delicious and the jalapenos were hot! However the bagels are better with a condiment, they were not very good plain.

I usually go in after 10:00, and he has very little inventory left. He has the best bagels in town, bar none, and they are inexpensive. He is friendly, and will come up with flavor of cream cheese you want. I like the plain with lox. He does not charge extra for condiments. Even if he is out of what you may want, anything he has is good. This is the place if you want a bagel.

Every time I visit up North I always stop at the Bagel Deli! The décor is odd but the food is so good that you wont care. My favorites are the Jalapeño and Jack Cheese bagel, and the Chocolate bagel. The Blueberry bagel toasted with butter and powdered sugar is also delicious! Order it with blueberry cream cheese on the side! :) He can make any cream cheese you ask for.

Delicious bagels and nice, friendly owner. I love the walnut raisin bagels and my husband loves the jalepeno cheese ones. Convenient location off of Bechelli. Best bagels I’ve had in Redding for sure.

Love the bagels here!!! The jalapeño & cheese and the plain bagels are my favorites! The guy is nice and friendly. The prices are a tad on the high side but doesn’t stop me from going there(it’s worth it for sure). It lost a star because of the availability of bagels. I’ve been there as early as 8:00 am and had my favorites already sold out. He definitely sells out fast! Oh, I’ve also tried a couple of the sandwiches and they’re delicious as well.

Is it closed? I drove to Bagel Deli last Thursday at about 11:00 to grab a dozen bagels on the way out of town. It was closed tight – no sign, etc. Hate to give it one star, but I really was bummed out.

I have been coming here ever for years, I was so sad when the Bagel Den closed on Lake Boulevard, but this store must be related, it is the same type bagels, and damn they are the best bagels I have ever had. No one makes these types of bagels, they are special. If you are in Redding, you have to try these bagels! Blueberry stuffed, cinnamon walnut, jalepeno cheese stuffed, marion berry stuffed, raspberry stuffed, oatmeal raison are the best ones. Bring on some cream cheese and you are set. The go bad fast so we buy a bunch and throw them in the freezer, microwave and heaven comes. These are not your normal bagels. These are bagels on sterroids. They are huge fatties with great dough. Best bagels I have ever had. Highly recommended. The owner is a very nice man, he loves what he does and is passionate. This place runs out of things early, so get their at the break of dawn, and get your bagels.
