This place is pretty weak. The collection is super small, which is okay, buy it lacks diversity. There are so many great creator owned and indie titles out right now, of which they carry just the Walking Dead. Last time I was in the dude behind the counter was having a nice, comic centric chat with a customer. As soon as that male customer left, though, there was no pleasant conversation to be had. Maybe they knew each other, maybe I look insane by Redding standards, who knows, but I don’t know any other comic readers and it a little discussion would be nice. Ultimately, their memorabilia collection is pretty neat and they get points for even existing in the fun-suck that is Redding, but mostly they just remind me of how much I miss Meltdown in Hollywood and Atlantis Fantasy World in Santa Cruz.

Nice shop. A conservative but nice comic and board game collection. The staff are friendly and helpful. If you can’t find what you’re into, they’ll order it. The only comic shop in town besides B&N.

Only comic book store in town. The staff is ok. Most of them are friendly and attentive. One lady… much less so. But they have the comics, and that’s what I’m looking for. Customer service would help them for repeat business

I could have sworn I already reviewed this place, but hmm… I’ll begin a new one. So the other review on here by Jmo S. is pretty scathing, but it seems to me like it was one bad experience coupled with a bit of ignorance(note: not a bad thing, just ill informed). Honestly as a comic collector, I know that I have to do the research and price out my collection and that I can’t trust anyone who would be a potential buyer. Additionally, pricing is very tedious and sometimes frustrating, but the work pays off and you find some gems in your own collection even you didn’t know you had. Personally, I believe that Collector’s Choice did you a great service in pointing you to a price guide, because most shops would tell you to get the hell out. Think: Playing Stairway to Heaven in a guitar shop. It’s just a faux pas. Back to the review(I seem to be writing that a lot lately, lol)… I have to say I’m rather impressed with this shop. I’ve looked around a bit and they have a rather large selection of various collector’s items from sports to comics. Usually when I’m in here, I’m looking at the various comics, which they have a large selection of back issues with many different titles and volumes. In fact a lot of their titles have some pretty old comics in them(silver age at least) and haven’t been picked clean like other comic shops I’ve been to. So searching through a title or two has it’s benefits. They also offer a discount if you buy 5 back-issue comics where they give you 60% off each comic. So it definitely makes sense to buy five or more. The service I’ve received has been pretty good thus far. There is one guy in particular who I talked to on free comic day(May 5th) who was really knowledgeable and funny. As I was searching the droves of comics in the back, I was listening to him talk to various customers about an assortment of collector’s issues, comic and sports lore and I could tell he knew his stuff. So it’s always nice to see/hear someone who has an in depth knowledge of their product. So kudos for that. There is another older man, I’d say mid 40s who is much more quiet, and I believe he is more interested in sports memorabilia but I have nothing to go against his comic and other collectible knowledge. He does check on me when I spend my hour or so in the store and ask if I need anything, which is in a nice and not pushy or sales-pitchy manner. I have to say this place is a solid 4 stars and when left wondering why I don’t think it deserves a fifth star, I feel like something is missing. I’m not sure what it is, but I don’t think it’s a negative thing that’s pulling this place to 4 and not 5 stars. Perhaps with a bit larger of a location it would be better and have more stuff, but I know that for a small collector’s shop in a small town(yes, Redding will always be a small town until the money starts coming in) that a larger shop probably wouldn’t make it. I guess my gripe is more against Redding and not against this shop, but it still begs to differ, I miss the comic shops of old where people would play nerdy card games and not shave for weeks, and in a small collector’s shop like this you’re not going to find that. You’ll find that one gem item you want, but then after a couple visits and purchases, you’ll kind of wear yourself out. So I guess that’s where it comes from. Please visit this store and keep it in business. Without it, Redding loses some of it’s underrepresented population’s culture, sports and comic fans alike.

Went in to see if they could help and talk to me about baseball cards that my brother gave me. They offered me no help. They wouldn’t look at any of my cards. Instead they talked down to me and told me to buy a price guide.
