Downtown Redding Starbucks, Episode 47: As I walk into Starbucks this morning, two women are hashing out the one woman rear-ending the other woman as they turned to enter the parking lot. The woman who did the rear-ending seems like she’s having trouble following along. The look on her face is a little like Jack Nicolson’s in «One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.» After the lobotomy. By the time I’m leaving with my coffee they’re settling up because there apparently wasn’t any damage. I get in my truck and start backing out. Bump. The woman who did the earlier rear-ending has now hit me broadside – two accidents in 5 minutes. She apparently hit my tire, not all that hard and there’s no apparent damage, but I take pictures of both vehicles and her license plate just in case. The woman doing the hitting doesn’t want to produce any ID and just wants to agree that there’s no damage – in her fog, she seems to think that taking it further will get her into Big Trouble. The woman who was hit first and I exchange info, just in case, and spend the next 20 minutes arranging for a friend to come and pick up the woman driving the bumper car, because she’s either heavily medicated or off her meds. People sometimes ask me why I patronize this place – this is often based on anti-Starbucks snobbery, but also because of the series of stories it produces. They’re like, «Are you a storm-chaser, too?» But at the start of what most days is going to be just another relatively boring day, there’s always the potential for a life-enriching experience at this Starbucks. People, you don’t get that at the Dutch Bros drive-through across the street.

I go there every other week when I get my nails done and after 2 visits Ashley already remembered my name. One day I was in there and it was HOT so I didn’t know what I wanted. One of the girls asked me a couple questions and then asked if she could just make me a drink not on the menu? I said sure. It was so good!!! It hit the spot, I had been wanting something for days and that was it!!! Everyone there is sweet and helpful, never had a bad experience.

Came at 8:50 am there’s about 6 people waiting ahead of us for their drink. Ordered a chai latte and it taste very water down. So I told the barista and she say ‘ok I will make it without water ’ She quickly fix it. And there comes a normal chai that I always had . Pro: upbeat friendly barista Con: always have a longer wait for the drink

I’m not from the area but I came down to visit a friend, the Barista’s and staff were so sweet! I really enjoyed their positive attitudes and the quick service. Keep up the great hospitality.

Rediculous. Only went here because we were in the wrong lane, Dutch was right across the street. This place is always busy, which for some businesses isn’t a problem. My husband went in, ordered two exact same drinks, and received a totally different drink, in two different sizes. The worker making coffee was complaining about needing milk, and made the girl helping my husband stop helping him to go get the milk. Husband walked out irritated. Thanks, Starbucks. Twelve bucks later I’m reminded why I love Dutch Bros.

One of those Starbucks but it helped me because I stayed at a motel that doesn’t offer coffee. This Starbucks was only a few minute of the motel, so took breakfast here. Very friendly service. It was nice opening at 5 a.m.

Terrible experience! TERRIBLE! Stopped by around 6:15pm today(10÷07÷14) right before my hair appointment nearby. I needed a fix super bad since baby kept me up aaaallll night! What I wanted to happen: I order my usual; use my Sbux Gold card free drink(that I earned); receive a delicious, correctly made drink in a timely manner; be on my way feeling great for my appointment! What actually happened: Stood in line for about 7 minutes with THREE employees present, but only TWO working(1 guy taking orders &1 girl slooowly making drinks, just zero urgency!!) … I ordered my usual(and one for my stylist); paid using my Sbux Gold card; received my drink rather slowly & then received the other drink about 3 minutes later; seeing how she worked with little caring, I asked her if she’d used whole milk(as I’d requested, as always)… she hesitated, which gave me my answer, but she proceeded to say, «Yes, I did.» It was now 6:30pm! WWHHHYYYY??? Like I don’t know my drink? Of course, I hurriedly get in my car & drive off since I’m about to be late, and what do you know… it had the consistency of WATER(ie: standard 2% milk) which I HATE and therefore why I order WHOLEMILK. I immediately call to let them know what happened, and that I’d like a voucher for a drink on another day since I pretty much WASTED my free drink! A guy named Casey tells me that he will honor my requst, but goes on to say about the girl who made my drink, «I don’t think she did that.» Uuhhmm, okay, then who did? The ghost of Abel Gable? Whatever dude! Sbux Corporate and/or the store mgr should have a chat with their baristas about lying to customers. If you make a mistake, just fix it! Don’t send me on my way so I’m FURTHER inconvenienced by having to call, complain, & then return later. I don’t think that’s asking too much.

Can be a chore to get in and out of parking lot. Love the iced coffee. Homeless hangout a lot and can cause smell issues.

Wow! After an overnight train ride from Fresno I found myself in Redding at the wee hours for a bit before catching the Burney express home. The two young baristas were two lights of sunshine. Coffee was superb, scone was delicious. Made my odd hour Redding excursion wonderful. Open at 5am on mlst days. I have a new favorite Starbucks!

Crowded corner lot, but nice inside for a coffee grind pit stop. Noisy at breakfast. Friendly staff.

Coworker and I came in here looking for some burst of energy for that dreadful 3+ hrs of driving back to SF… came in here and it was busy… packed for a Friday evening. My first(of the season) ordering their infamous peppermint mocha… and I was excited… upon getting my coffee… here’s what transpired: male barista: «I made art in your coffee»(as in «art» in the foam) me: «oh cool. thanks!» male barista: «it’s art!»(getting a bit annoyed that I wasn’t giving him proper attention or appreciation for his«art») me: «okay I know, I’m a graphic designer, trust me, I appreciate it. thank you.» male barista:(stare of death) coworker: «well its a good thing we have our coffee and the chances of him spitting into our coffee is nonexistent!» me: «I’m just happy I’m not coming back. AWKWARD!» That’s why I had to review… for every barista that would ask for acknowledgment of their«art» per cup… imagine how many agitated consumers(such as myself)… yeah… exactly. Scary huh? To the baristas out there: I APPRECIATEYOU. Sincerely. Be humble. Always works!

It’s a Starbucks, what more can be said? This location is a bit quieter as it doesn’t have a huge parking lot and no drive through. The staff has always been super great and the seating and lighting is excellent.

Hard to pull into the parking lot, no drive-thru window, and I’ve got to agree with Flederjohn — slow. I’ve stopped using this Starbucks, even though I drive RIGHTPASTIT every time I come into Redding from Hwy 299… and I’m usually in need of a cuppa Joe to handle the fast pace of Redding… The horrible traffic situation is one of the minuses, but I’ve got to admit that they’re awfully slow at this one. I have started bypassing it for the Dutch Brothers down the hill on 273 going north(I go up Hwy. 5 a lot), which has a drive-thru and barristas who are quite friendly. If I’m hanging ‘intown’, I usually opt for a Dutch Brothers over on Churn Creek Road. I really shoud check out Yak’s or one of the other new ones… they sound pretty okay; thanks Ruben, Nicky & Buzz for the head’s-up! Photos to follow…

Friendly customer service and a clean bathroom. Since it is cold weather time, I opted for hot tea. Bonus this year is that I was given a Starbuck’s giftcard just in time for our roadtrip, so now my pit stop is free this trip!
