My wife and I went there while visiting from out of town. What an awesome place. The food was excellent, service was just as good. The place was clean, inviting with a friendly atmosphere. Will definitely make this a regular stop when we are in Redmond.

The Food and service was great! Staff was friendly. The baby back ribs were excellent! Their BBQ sauce is fantastic.

This was our second time here. Great good. We had the extravaganza. It says it will feed 2 – 3 people… there was enough good for 5 people easily! The staff was great and the beer was cold. Couldn’t ask for much more than that! We will certainly visit then again!

Baldy’s is a barbeque restaurant located on the outskirts of the Fred Meyer shopping center. The place has western-themed décor, a small bar on one side, and no frills tables for dining on the other. It is bright, clean and lively. The service is friendly, the food usually takes a while to arrive at the table, and the nice-sized portions are priced fairly. The food is average to above-average. The salads are fresh, and are of the usual standard restaurant variety. The corn bread is very good(moist and fluffy). The barbequed meats are pretty generic, however. They are light on seasoning and heavy on sweet sauces. While tasty, they are really just well-cooked meat with what tastes like high-end bottled barbeque sauce on them. Baldy’s is a good place to go to hang out with friends, have a brew, and enjoy some grub. If you are looking for a place to enjoy a robust barbeque dinner, there are some better options around town.

This restaurant has a very well known positive reputation locally. It’s small, somewhat noisy and fun. The service has been very, very good for us. The prices are good. But what we like is the food. It’s very simple ribs and steaks, not the fancy steak house stuff, just good old home cooking. The rib steak sandwich special they had on Monday’s for a long time with blue cheese was really really good. The fries are probably the best in the area, if you like their type of fries, hard to explain but nothing like McDonald’s fries. They’re very long fries, they appear homemade, not the frozen pre-made restaurant stuff. The ribs we’ve had there have been good and not overly expensive. We like it, it’s good, and they consistently have a very good restaurant health score with the county. PS: One of the other reviews here talking about the service really sounds bogus to me. We’ve gone there maybe 15 or more times now, and always been greeted in a friendly manner, and treated very well by the waitress. I’m sure they have turnover so it’s possible we missed the bad waitress but we’ve never seen her/him.

Our 2nd time here. Previous visit very good. Tonight brisket was super fatty salad greens wilty, tomatoes was hard and close to tender. Looked more like cantaloupe than tomato.

I enjoy a good bit of bbq and Baldy’s won’t disappoint. It’s not my favorite place of all times but it’s the best I know of in central Oregon. It’s a bit spendy for the most part BUT if you get the 4 meat combo it’s plenty for 2 and even three people to share which then makes it quite affordable. The sides are all pretty good. Nothing super special to point out besides the fries which are pretty darn good. The beer selection could use a boost especially given the outstanding breweries here in central Oregon. All-in-all it’s a solid B.

Run of the mill BBQ and burgers. We enjoyed a nice lunch with the lunchtime crowd. A pretty popular spot in Redmond. I had a burger, I liked it especially the bun. In the past I have tried their ribs and my sons are big fans. Their«award winning» BBQ sauce is a little to processed tasting to me. Corn syrupy is the only way I can describe it.

Service is atrocious doesn’t reflect the cost. Never be back & don’t recommend this review is based on 3 times eating at baldy’s. 1st time we visited we were told to wait at the bar while a table was being made ready. At the bar they took our order & we wait. 3 couples were sat before my husband & I each came in after us. We asked they told us they forgot, & sat us. Once sitting, my water sat empty for over 5 min(may have been longer). A waitress walked by looked at it & kept walking, we actually had zero clue who our waitress was. Finally after waiting for so long I asked for our waitress. A guy finally came over & asked«you need something?» After asking for water he went to the bar & chats with another waitress for a few min before getting my drink. I had the brisket & pulled pork. The PP was bland & nothing to write home about. I was surprised at the lack of flavor. They are banking on their sauce which is just ok. Brisket was tender & tasted good, again missing some key flavor. My husband had a burger & that was very good. The waiter then made us wait 10 min after we were done to check up. After requesting the check we waited another 5 min to get it as he was again chatting with a waitress. 2nd: again long wait time for check/water/etc., not as bad as the first. I had the ribeye sandwich, it was good. My husband had the burger also good. 3rd: waitress tells us how tired she was(because that’s what customers want to hear). We wait 10 – 15 min for food. I ordered the ribeye sandwich again. I ordered it medium Rare & per the menu on garlic toast. To my disappointment my steak is well done overcooked. Tells me they lack consistency in the kitchen. After eating ½ out of hunger /my waitress MIA for 10 min. she finally came back to fill my dry glass & asked how everything was. I say my steak is overcooked. She shrugs her shoulders & says«I’m sorry do you want me to take it back?» At this point Im very hungry have already eaten half, didn’t want to have to wait another long period of time, & didn’t want the meat to go to waste. An animal died to feed me, so I am not going to let it go to waste because the cook can’t cook a steak. I said no & she says«yeah I’d hate to be a cook, I couldn’t do it» & walks away. I then notice the bread is not garlic toast. When she comes over I asked is this the bread it normally comes on? She looks scared & says«uh yeah it is»(Clearly lying) I said I thought it came on garlic toast? She says you have to ask for it, do you want me to get you some? At this point I am upset as she lied to my face. Menu clearly states garlic toast NOT Roll. She left us sitting for another 10 min. So we’re held hostage with empty plates/glasses. When she came back asked how everything was I said I was disappointed by the overcooked steak & the wrong bread. She says«yeah Im sorry do you want my manager to take it off?» Now let me point out I was not looking for a free meal its the 3rd time I’ve been here. I didn’t ask for a free meal she offered to take it off. So I was like«uh ok I guess» wasn’t really what I was going for but sure. Then the«manager» Amber(w/messy hair/attitude) comes to our table & says«so what’s going on?» not«Hi my name is amber I am the manager Im sorry about your steak…» I say«are you the manager» «yeah I am so what’s going on?» I tell her what happened & she says(in an accusatory tone) «well, did you tell have them make you a new one» I said no, because I didn’t want to it go in the trash after eating parts of it. She says«well it wouldn’t have gone to waste our employees would eat it.» GROSS. If that’s their policy I can only imagine what other nasty policies there are. Im glad food isn’t being wasted, but I find it odd they would encourage employees to eat off of stranger’s plates. I say«I am disappointed this happened.» She says with attitude«well there is nothing I can do you ate it so I can’t help you. Next time just have them remake it. So the waitress says she is going to have her manager take it off then the manager comes & says there’s nothing she can do & she can’t help me. Again I didn’t ask for it, at this point the lady is treating me as though I came for a free meal. She was disrespectful/lacked any sense of CS training. She shouldn’t manage a restaurant w/her demeanor appearance & attitude. I request the GM’s card & was told no, I asked for his name & she says«I think his name is David I don’t know his last name» saying again next time you don’t like something just send it back but I can’t help you now, there is nothing I can do for you. Which tells me the next time I come back I can expect my food will be messed up. She’s unapologetic & lacked CS professionalism. I say there will be no next time. She shrugs her shoulders & walks off. We then waited another 5 min for our check. Service is everything, & if they hire managers who deliver terrible CS& cooks who can’t maintain consistency I will gladly spend my dollars elsewhere.

Quality of food served does not reflect the price being charged for It. Service is chaotic and slow and staff often seems overwhelmed. Will not be back.

O.M.G DELICIOUS $$ Why are they not in CA?!? The thought of Baldy’s makes my stomach grumble and mouth water. Serious. My husband and I ordered a three meat combo and shared it: pulled pork, beef brisket, pulled chicken. I picked the side of coleslaw. ALL the meats were delicious and nothing was left to take home. I was actually craving food from this place a week –even for breakfast– after we left. Their sauce is not super hot and compliments the smoked meats. The fries are really good, crispy and not wimpy.

Food was tasty as always, but they REALLY skimped on the cole slaw. Like, a thimble-full for each order. VERY disappointed because their cole slaw is great. Also, the waitress barely paid attention to us. I was out of water and super thirsty after a day at Smith Rock. Would have been nice if she was observant and kept our glasses full.

I want to leave 3.5 stars– but went with 4. The food definitely deserves 4 stars. We tried the smoked chicken(moist, well seasoned and large portion) and also the pulled pork(bomb*). The mac&cheese is different but VERYGOOD. The reason for 3.5 stars… the service was OK at best… we had to flag down other waitresses just to get refills on our drinks and it took 15 min to get ketchup for our fries. I would take it to-go next time so that I didnt need to deal with the service***

Food was a solid four! But the service was a 1. Waitress stopped by to ask if we were ready for our check before we even got our food. We waited 45 minutes for our bbq. It was great once we got it but no– one stopped to check how we were doing or to refill drinks the entire time. When she brought us our check, she didn’t ask if we needed boxes. It was marginal service that made the orherwise decent food not worth the effort.

We came hungry after a hike in Smith Rock, and Amber seated us. The baby rack was made to perfection. For side dishes we took, mash potatoes, French fries, fired okra, corn bread. Once again, Amber was incredibly nice, we will come back…

As far as BBQ goes, I didn’t feel there was anything special or particularly delicious about their ribs or sauce. But, that’s really my personal preference. It was good food, but definitely not the best BBQ we’ve ever eaten. The staff was great and we’ll be back based on that alone. More than accommodating, friendly, and just overall really pleasant. Baldy’s might be your cup of tea as far as BBQ goes, so give them a try. We were not unhappy with our meals(the exception being the jalapeño cornbread — it needs some work) and would eat there again.
