I really had fun with this meal. I think you might need to sit back and put all your pre-conceived notions about Indian food aside but, if you do this you might have a good time. The slogan is something along the lines of «a taste of the Indian street» this proved to be quite the promise and I found there to be a certain style to it. I thought one of the guys had been almost rude like a street vendor but still delivering the product. My server on the other hand was very polite and charming with a smile. Either way I was pleased with the food which was kind of an Curry Burrito with many of the flavors of traditional Indian food + the easy eating and hand held idea of a Mexican restaurant. I think it was a neat idea. I enjoyed the flavor. The truth is that they over promised the quickness of the delivery. The first question I had was«how long will it take.» The response«ten minutes» I ended up taking an hour lunch and working through half of it in order to not fall behind on work. It basically took 45 minutes to get one lunch entrée and a canned soda. This may not be how it is always and I plan to return to find out. $

The restaurant itself is very cute, and the menu has a wide variety of Nepali, Ethiopian, and Tibetan cuisine. You have the option to order off the menu or to go to their buffet. Everything smelled absolutely delicious, and my husband and I were most definitely not disappointed. The food we ordered was incredible and very unique to what I’ve seen offered at other places with similar cuisine. I didn’t try the buffet, but it looked well-stocked with a good variety from their menu. Their mango lassi(sp?) was one of the best I’ve ever had. All positives aside, our service left quite a bit to be desired, and I don’t say this lightly. I was in food service for years and know just how difficult it can be. Simply put, our waiter was rude and awkward. He asked us to move tables three times even though it was empty when my husband and I came in. He served my husband’s meal a good fifteen minutes before my meal and he didn’t get his salad until about forty minutes in. He didn’t check on us at all, and continuously wandered around the restaurant just sitting randomly staring out the window. Another waitress actually checked on us a couple times to give us water and she seemed very sweet.

I arrived for a late lunch. The booths by the window had piles of dishes still there(while the restaurant was mostly empty). I thought that was a bad sign but I persevered. The hostess greeting newcomers was very pleasant. The bathroom was out of towels(which reinforced the bad feeling I was getting) but I persevered. The menu is large and its hard to imagine that they can make all those things well. The food was just ok, nothing to write home about and lots of places are better. I got some sort of thali. The potato dish was bland and not altogether a different flavor from the beans dish. Same with the other dish. At the end, I felt like I had eaten some Indian food with ambiguous flavors from a hospital cafeteria. The prices were decent and the quantity of food was large. But, again, there are much better choices. I think they need to simplify the menu, focus on making a few things well and manage the restaurant better. Until then, I don’t see me coming back.

Food is okay okay at this place compared to kanishka and ahaar restaurant. Few things that are really good here — samosas, chaat and pao bhaji Absolute no — jalebi

I think chicken tikka masala is very good. However, it’s very overpriced. They are constantly trying to rip you off. For example, tips are mandatory even when you are ordering for take out. Also, some of the employees there are a bit racist and not well-mannered.

Out of N number of Indian restaurants that have shoot up as mushrooms these days in Redmond and Bellevue areas this place has substance. Quality of food is what makes this restaurant deserve a 4 star. 5 items that I loved and would like mention here are : Idli Sambar Paratha’s Veg and Non Veg Thali Lahori Paneer Biryani and finally Rabdi Jalebi… Staff could be more attentive to improve the service for the customers but given in Indian restaurants around I would complain much. Overall I would come back and see how to they maintain their standards in 6 months from now since quality usually goes down for Indian restaurants over a period of time.

The worse Indian restaurant experience I’ve ever had! I’ve been eating Indian food for over 20 years and have even visited India, so i’m usually pretty good at spotting decent Indian food, but this place was just the worse. The Staff: The worse part is the staff. I hate to be mean but they are just plain stupid, there’s no way around it. the waiter came to take our order, and our party ordered 6 dishes, and he was trying to memorize our order instead of writing it down. I asked him to just write it down, but instead he made us repeat it three times while he memorized it. Then he brought the appetizer and we had no plates at our table(there were 5 of us!) we finally got his attention after 5 minutes to get plates. We also had 2 young kids with us and we specifically asked for non spicy dishes for the kids, and the waiter said of course, but then he came with the most spicy dishes for the kids and explained they were the same as ours… which of course made no sense. The Food: The food wasn’t as bad as the staff but still not very good. there was one decent dish but the recent wasn’t very good nor very authentic. The dosa had bread with no taste and the patatos inside weren’t the creamy kind, they were just plain patatos stuffed inside. The biryiani was just bland rice with chicken. The worse part of the food is that two of the people in our party had stomach aches the whole evening after eating lunch here! Stay away, far away from this place !!

Their Bombay Chowpatti chaat is the best I’ve had in this area. Samosa chat and Salty Lassi are my favorites. They are pretty fresh and taste good. The Hakka noodles is too oily. Gobi manchurian was tasty and crispy but a little on the saltier side. They are almost always out of sugarcare juice :/

There’s a lot I love about Chaat N Roll — it’s really the only place in the area for decent chaat and biryani. We were really excited when this location opened, but it’s been months now and still every time there is some kind of mistake with our order, etc. They frequently forget items when we order delivery and even when we dine in. They also really don’t have a good system for Eat24 orders. We signed up for pickup tonight and got email confirmation, and then they claimed they never got the order. Frustrating, because I really like this place otherwise. 3 – 4 stars for food depending on the day and the item, 1 – 2 stars for service.

I love their chikoo milkshake and have had if often. I had pav bhaji there and thought it was not served warm enough or spicy enough. It also lacked salt. I think this place is best for chaat mostly but I will probably give it another try sometime as I had good spicy food there once over a year ago.

Decided to come here for my birthday since I was having an Indian craving it was my second time trying it and I was not disappointed the food is always delicious and fresh the server answered all of our questions about the menu in detail which helped a lot since we weren’t that familiar with Indian cuisine. After our meal the manager or owner not sure which asked how everything was and offered a sample of their Chaat which we had never tried before and it was amazing so many flavors that exploded in my mouth we tried the shaam savera. If you like Indian food I suggest this place and a side note the garlic naan is delicious with the tikka masala!

Initial impressions were not good. Although they had officially been open for half an hour, they were still cleaning the restaurant when we came in and it took a while for us to get service at the counter. In the end it turned out to be a very good lunch. First of all, the restaurant is very casual and great for kids. Order at the counter. It also has tons of seating. Not that this was an issue when we went. Menu seemed a little limited relative to other Chaat places I’ve been to but there is still plenty to explore. At first we thought it was overpriced but we soon realized that they had mistakenly added a chaat dish to our order(yes we paid for it). At first we were ticked off but then realized this was the best item of the bunch. Some sort of kabob(vegetarian) chaat. Very fresh, good quality, and well flavored. Also, the portion sizes are large. We ended up taking home another meal’s worth at least. Aside from the chaat, we ordered the gujurati thali, masala dosa, plain dosa, and hakka noodles(not spicy for the kids). The sambaar that came with the dosas was really good, thicker than average. The lentils in it were not completely blended in(we liked this!). We were pleasantly surprised by the hakka noodles. We were expecting something greasy but these were light and healthy, and despite being made non-spicy, very flavorful. Dosas were good as well. Definitely coming back!

I wish I could give better ratings to this place. The server guy is very very very creepy! Now handle the creepy but he is just rude like plane rude. Orders his customers like they are his bonded slaves. We were a group of mummies for lunch there with our tots, trying to adjust all high chairs. I was holding my little one and standing trying to adjust, he said«why r u standing here, blocking the whole way«in Hindi. Wow! I was just shocked. Next he brings chai for my friend litrelly stomps on table in front of me and orders me «pass it on» in Hindi. I complained to the front lady at the end, she was apologetic and wanted to offer something, but seriously I did not complain for free food. I told her I am not coming back there. Food quality is 2 stars.

This place is one of many new Indian places that have opened recently. While I have had good luck with other places, I am afraid this was an exception. They offer variety of selections including snacks all the way to multiple selection meal(Thali). Prices are higher than average but that probably can be explained by convenient downtown location. I ordered three snack items. When we got the food, it was spicy and flavorful but didn’t feel fresh. The last item we tried was Pav Bhaji(bread with veg curry). This was so bad we had to throw away all of it. The bread was not toasted, and gravy was watery. Worst food ever. I am never going back there.

My husband and I are big fans of Chaat and Roll veg restaurant in Redmond that serves snacks. So we were excited to try their veg/non veg restaurant at 161st Av. Here is our experience: As soon as we entered into the restaurant we encountered a long queue right at the door… an indication of good food. Then once we placed our order — one non veg thali and a Chinese combo, we waited for our table to get cleaned… waited for about 8 – 10 min. In the meantime, I requested two people to have the table cleaned. Finally when we reached our table from the waiting area another customer«almost» fought with us claiming she got the table cleaned for herself. Interestingly she also claimed that my purse(thank God I had the presence of mind to put my purse on the seat while we were waiting to be seated) was her friend’s… Hilarious!!! Once we got seated within 5 min an order arrived — mirchi bhaji — and we were told that we ordered it even though we didn’t. Amused as we were we finally convinced her that the dish wasn’t ours. Another five minutes went by and we were served one naan … The server told us that we should start eating while the rest of our order gets prepared. I winked at my husband… One naan … What do you eat it with??? Okay… Finally we got our non veg thali with 3 rotis… hmmmmmm I realized that apparently the naan wasn’t ours after all! But we had already started eating it. So sorry to whoever was waiting for his naan to arrive ;) Remember… we had ordered Chinese combo too… Well somebody came to inform us that they were out of noodles and to ask if it was okay if they substituted it with fried rice. Then we waited another 20 min. Finally my husband had to remind one of the servers that we had placed another order we were waiting for. It was then we were told that there was some confusion — the kitchen staff thought we had replaced our order with fried rice only. This meant that we’d have to wait another 20 min for them to prepare our order. I could take no more. I asked them to make our order to go. So once we walked out of the restaurant we know we are NOT going back!!! Couple thoughts for the owners: Your food is not bad(I do think chicken, naan, daal and raita were very good) but if you are short on help, make your place«self serve» only Please train your staff… They are excellent at messing up placed orders Have a self serve station for water … Once served, no one asked us for water I understand restaurant business is not easy but your competition is fierce… Good luck!

I like Indian food but I have never tried chat or Indian styles street food. I came in on a lunch break to find out that the restaurant has been there only a few weeks. The girl at the counter walked me through what kind of food they had and I ordered some chat and a roll. It was delicious. The chat was an assault of many interesting favors and vegetables fruits and herbs. The roll was as spicy as I had asked for and complimented the chat quite well. Overall a great experience. I would go again and recommend it to others. Could be a bit pricy if picking multiple items. But for something out of the ordinary it was well worth it.

I want to give them more than 5stars! I had a great customer service experience. Since I don’t know anything about Indian food, a guy at the cashier explained about menus, not only that he gave me simples with nice smiles. He was very polite and so as a waiter. This gentleman cares about his business I can tell. Always watching your table what you need. Of cause food was very delicious. I got curry with rice and my husband got something like a thin tortilla with cheese inside.(can’t remember the name.) the taste was great! Easy to eat, I just love it! If you want to get good experience at casual dining, they are the best!

Attempt number 2. — Pani poori is not great. The proportions are all wrong. — Masala Poori suffers from a very confused temperature problem. The pooris are cold, the masala is piping hot and when you put it into your mouth it is just confusion. — Dahi Bhalla is decent — Samosas are over oily — Dahi Poori(from my last review) has dahi that is so cold that it had pieces of ice in it — Chole Bhature are decent except that they give far too less Chole. Overall, I’d go to Chaat House on 20th street. Both in the end are hit and miss :-(.

Great to have them in downtown Redmond but disappointed with the food. They have the same menu that they serve at the other Redmond/Bellevue location. They have done up the place well, we have not experienced the service as we have only done takeout. Expanded menu apparently is coming in a couple weeks. Now for the food — been here twice now since they opened and the quality of the food has deteriorated when compared to their original location. Their staple chole bhature was horrible — chole was watered down and had no flavor and bhature had a sour after taste to it. Bhel we got was decent but again not the same flavors or the quality. I really want them to succeed in this location but it is not a great start unfortunately.
