We went to JJ Mahoney’s to watch a game the US National soccer team was playing. Even though it’s an Irish bar(which for soccer fans normally means if there’s games on it’ll be on) my wife called ahead of time to make sure they’d have it, which we were assured they would have. When we got to the bar, not a single TV had the game in, when we asked to change it to the game, they flipped through multiple channels and said they couldn’t find it… We told them it was on ESPN2, to which we were given a snarky answer. After ten minutes we called three lions pub, who answered we asked if they had the game on, «Of course». We left and. Enjoyed the game there which WAS on ESPN2. I can’t comment on the food, but the service was atrocious!

Favorite bar in Redmond. Food is always consistently good every time I come. Everyone needs to try the breakfast and Bloody Mary bar on the weekends! Over the last year I’ve seen such an amazing improvement to the service and overall quality of the food and drinks. Perfect venue for meeting friends after work, or even bringing the family for dinner. Love the cushioned couches by the fire place. Gives you a relaxed atmosphere. Definitely will be back!

My husband and I love this place. Never had any real issues in the past aside from the occasional slow service but that’s something I’m generally willing to forgive and look past. However we went on Saturday, Jan 23 for dinner and our experience was less than stellar. The food as always was wonderful but our waitress was awful. She was attentive enough as far as that went but man, was she grumpy. Not one smile. Not one! I understand having a bad day but don’t take it out on your customers. Don’t slam my cup down on the table. Had we not been in a rush I would have found the manager but unfortunately, we had to get home quickly. Our waitress that night had dark hair, and was about average height. She serviced the side closest to the door. I don’t know her name as she never told us! I still plan to return because this is not a typical experience but if I have this server again, I will likely change seats. Update: Paul, the owner contacted me and I really, really appreciate that. It made me value this establishment even more. That alone makes me update my rating to four stars. When the owners take time out of their busy days to do whatever they can to make things right, it’s a great thing in my book. Again, I must reiterate that as a whole, we LOVE this place. My husband especially loves the creative drinks that the bar comes up with(I forget the name but it involved whiskey and pickle juice which sounds gross but my husband enjoyed it!). I’m more of a traditional drink kinda girl… cosmopolitans, long islands, etc so I will never try anything extremely adventurous when it comes to drinks. Every time we come in, we love the food. If we ever decided we didn’t like something on the menu, it wasn’t due to the restaurant but due to our personal tastes. If you don’t like beer, it’s obviously not the bar’s fault if you choose to order it and then not like it. :)

The Establishment: JJ Mahoney’s is a family pub of sorts found alongside fine purveyors of business such as Xfinity, MOD pizza, and the cinemas. The restaurant tries its best to look like a traditional«Irish pub» but falls short of most expectations. The cheap and tacky décor seems to be an effort to offend any person of Irish ancestry. The Food: While the Irish aren’t known for their culinary prowess, the food tastes much like the décor: tacky. While nothing is terrible, nothing is really good either. Bland tasting with seemingly low quality ingredients. Think Denny’s but with twice the ticket price. While always fully cooked, food is usually lukewarm by the time it arrives(which can be upwards of 55 minutes after ordering, with 4 other tables occupied). The Drink: For a bar I don’t expect watered down drinks and such few spirit options. Beer has always seemed somewhat watered down as well, wasn’t aware that was a thing until dining at JJ’s a couple times. The Service: JJ’s does have kind, hard working staff waiting tables. Although, 25 minutes for the water to come to the table is an atrocity. The slow inconsistent kitchen staff further compromises the quality of service. The Big Picture: Truly bamboozled that a family«pub» such as JJs can survive in Redmond. The waitresses are plenty friendly but it breaks my heart to see their good intentions soiled by the completely amateur kitchen and bar staff. I would avoid, Redmond has a myriad of much finer dining options at the same price point with a much higher quality of service and food/drinks.

Great place to watch a game, relax with some friends over drinks or just enjoy some comfort food. Its also a great place to grab some grub before a movie as its next to Bella Bottega and they sell discounted movie tickets if you come for a meal. The Irish poutine and chicken pot pie were excellent. The beers were cold and the liquor selection was excellent. Our service was also really great. I will be back!

We have been coming to JJ’s for years but the last two trips second today the service totally sucks. Have never seen so many airhead waitresses in one establishment. The first experience a couple of weeks ago to top off the empty glass period finally got one of them to bring our check and sat 15 minutes waiting for change for the tip and walked out. There were others waking out after waiting for their food. It is not like we are hiding out in the back we always sit right by the kitchen door.

We came in at lunch time, there is a sign saying if you don’t get lunch in 15 minutes it is free. Our lunch took 21 minutes. It was not very busy for the four people that were working. Service: disorganized. Very disorganized. Slow. And poorly managed. Food: I had their soup of the day. It was fish and veggie, and it was flavorful because of salt and red pepper I think. Still good. My husband had the stew, it was cold and tasteless, totally regretted it but used to love their stew. Cleanliness: napkins not stocked, bathrooms a mess. Drinks: we ordered two Smithwicks. I had to go up to the bar/server who took our order and ask after 10 minutes of waiting if he had gotten our drink order in. They weren’t sitting on the bar, and apparently got forgotten. He then managed to tip quite a bit out on his way to our table, my husband saw him spill it all over the floor. Needless to say, we used to frequent this place a while ago… Quite a lot and we loved the people and atmosphere. Since Bryan has left the place has gone down hill. The service is clearly haphazardly managed. While we were waiting the 10 minutes for beer I saw the«manager» chatting away and not actually helping the coworkers. Get it together JJs. You’re in a great location and have so much room to improve. Go back to being that pub we loved.

Ate here for dinner tonight and service was great. Food was great(I had the shepards pie dish that I guess they call Cottage Pie sorry I wasn’t more specific on name but it’s basically the same) You might be asking why I gave 2 stars then. I am gluten free and get really sick if I eat wheat — within two hours after the meal I am raging sick. I don’t know if it’s gluten or the food wasn’t cooked properly but either way — it is not okay. Work on being more clear about what is gluten free as it seemed like the girl who helped us was confused about what was/wasn’t. The owner responded below which I appreciate, but there was something wrong with the food so should be more apologenic. Probably cross contamination of wheat or it directly in the food then(see owners attached link). Definitely won’t be back and hopefully this sickness is short term.

I have lived in Redmond for 30 years and I don’t know why I never discovered JJ Mahoney’s. But now that we are retired we eat out much more frequently. Someone recommended that we try JJ Mahoney’s so we did. Oh my gosh have we really been missing out. Honestly they have the very best hamburgers in all of Redmond. I couldn’t even contain the hmmm’ s and yum’ s as we were eating. Also the service by waiter Dante was excellent. The next time we went in the manager, Paul, came over and welcomed us. AND Dante remembered our names. They really make you feel at home. They have a varied menu with lots of choices. They also have the Pac12 network for you football fans. See you there. Our new favorite restaurant. Mark and Sue Mitchell

Came in for trivia night. Will definitely be back. I had a Reuben which was really good. Hubby had fish and chips which were also good. Son had grilled cheese. Solid pub food. Beer was good. Nice clean atmosphere and fun trivia! Only negative may be the slightly slow service but our server was very pleasant. This may become a regular Tues. night hang out.

Well… came in for the Sounders game. We just moved from California, so we are getting used to the area. This place seemed awesome but the service was beyond horrible(it wasn’t that busy either). We had no one check on us, I had to go to the bar and ask for everything we wanted. The two stars is because the four is pretty good(do not get the bacon shrimp, not good).

I had a great time here last night! Went with a group! Our server was sweet, food was good… Yay! I’ll be back :) This is a place I’ve always seen but never tried. I’m so glad we went here! :) I had steak and potatoes, with a spinach salad.

I don’t get here often enough. Great service, amazing food and great selection of beers and wine. Love to hang out with friends or have a date night dinner and get discounted movie tickets. Also fun to come here. Love the feel of the place and the remodel is much needed because it’s great for a big groups now

Someone please find me a zero star. Went there today with my son who has a tic and needs to watch his food and hence he had some food that we know won’t flare up his tic. Asked the waitress if he could eat his stuff while I ordered my food and she was nice enough to say ok(thank you nice lady). Some macho wanna be, Mac Daddy wanna be bartender then came out and overruled the waitress and ruthlessly said«it beats the purpose of us being a restaurant if we allow outside food» I said I was ok with him charging extra since I had already ordered a drink. He would not buzz, but then again, fool is me who sought some wisdom; some humanity; some courteousness; some politeness; some gentlemaness from an arrogant bartender who probably felt great that he could impress his fellow waitress by imposing his will on me. I really did not need this bartender to tell me what beats the purpose of a restaurant since I own 3 in Seattle. At mine we practice cordialness, we take whatever it takes to create a smile on our guests and boy do we go out of our way to accommodate parents with young children. The bartender without a doubt got his sense of I’m the man moment. Sadly though he pawned his humanness to get that. He sold his employers goodwill to achieve that and he cost some business for his employer for failing to have a little heart which every real men have. I feel sorry for the parents that raised him to be a jerk. I feel more sorry that a business establishment fell victim of their employee who values his crookedness and his arrogance more than generating revenue for a restaurant that cuts his paycheck. Lastly, to the bartender that felt his ego was important than than a father and son moment(especially since we were returning from raising some money for the poor earthquake victims in Nepal), I’m damn sure you would not have treated us the way you did we if our skin color was same as yours. May you find some wisdom and go on to live a life of a human being one day. Trust me, it’s rewarding and it’s worth it.

I always have a great time at JJ Mahoney’s. They have great selection of beer and cider, with rotators as well so there is always something new to try. The Irish Grilled Cheese and the Sausage Rolls are my favorite dishes. I would say the food is Americanized Irish food, more pub food than traditional Irish cuisine. Most of the staff is lovely, but they have a waitress who has never smiled the three times she has been my server. It has a great atmosphere and is fun for groups, dates, and families.

This place is O.K. A tad over priced for what it is, but hey, this is Redmond. What I enjoy most about this place is the portions of food are generous and the food has been quick to arrive the 4 or 5 times I’ve been here. The service is average of most restaurants, I’ve never had a great waiter or waitress here, but I’ve never had a bad one either. Lots of tvs for viewing various games and the atmosphere is cool. A solid 4 star rating.

3 stars for being a good sports bar in Redmond, but 2 stars for the food, which is average at best. The menu has some interesting Irish-themed options(steak and guinness pie, bangers and mash), but quality is just OK. Portion sizes are pretty large though. A good, easy choice if you’re planning a group outing for drinks and food.

I used to live 5 minutes walking from this place, and during that time this was our(me and my husband) favorite point. Every Sunday night we used to meet there to eat and drink. Now that I live a little farther, we still like to go there, but not as often. I can only point positive points to the place: it’s clean, the staff is friendly, the food is as good as it gets, they have my favorite wine(J Lhor), the music is great, the place is never crowded(although it’s always busy, I’ve never had problems on getting a table)… What else can we ask? I definitely recommend the place!
