Lunchbox Lab

Lunchbox Lab is a fast food version of Lunchbox Laboratory located on the second floor of The Commons Mixer building on the Microsoft West Campus in Redmond. You will need to work at Microsoft or know someone who does to gain access to visit this eatery.
This restaurant replaced Quincy’s as the burger place at this corporate mall complex. The restaurant’s dining area here is designed like a 60’s diner. The menu at Lunchbox Lab is a limited version of the offerings at Lunchbox Laboratory. There are six burgers on the menu priced from $ 6.99 to $ 7.99 which is considerably less than you would pay at the Lunchbox Laboratory restaurants in SLU and Bellevue.
The burgers do not come with fries, so you will need to order them as sides. But they give you the option to order a small or large size of them. If you get the small size, it is just $ 1. In additon to fries, tater tots and onion rings, they also offer a couple appetizers and shakes. There is a happy hour deal from 2 to 4 pm daily on the shakes which are BOGO during that time period.
For my meal, I ordered the James West burger ($ 7.99) with a small side order of tater tots ($ 1). The patty used for this burger is a mix of American style Kobe beef and pork. As the west in the burger name indicates, this is a Western burger so it had bacon, barbecue sauce and onion rings. But it also had a Guajillo cream cheese spread to add some spice to the burger.
The burger was excellent. It was the best burger that I have had on campus. It is a couple bucks more than the burgers you find at the Microsoft cafes, but I think the burger is worth the price. The accompanying tater tots were also nice. Crispy which is the way I like them.
The only misstep with my meal was with the condiments. There is a self serve condiment station in which I filled up some ketchup and honey mustard sauce from. Unusually, the sauces were chilled. I guess that is better than the alternative of room temperature sauces.
If you are looking for a great burger on the MS campus, I would recommend checking out Lunchbox Lab. One of the best food options at The Commons for sure.
