I’m seriously bummed to find out this Ruby’s is closed now. I was thrilled to discover this chain was so close when I first moved to the PNW; I really thought it was a mostly only southern CA chain and it was a special treat whenever I went and visited down there… For the most part this Ruby’s was very consistent. One time the clam chowder looked a little strange though unfortunately(and maybe fortunately I wasn’t the one in my party who ordered it). I always(ALWAYS!) order the turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce… love the bread they serve it on and it always is consistently good. My husband had trouble finding something to LOVE on their menu, but my love of the«Thanksgiving sandwich»(as I call it) allowed us to frequent this location. I guess when I visit CA, I’ll need to be sure to get my Ruby’s fix now that the WA locations are gone =/

Not a place I recommend. Every time I’ve been(the few times) the food has disappointed me. It’s either some questionably chewy chicken, a bland burger or some subpar fries. The place gets a little bump cause of its atmosphere and its relatively cheap prices, but I never leave a meal satisfied and wonder why I come back the next time

Ruby’s was ok, some of the dishes were great, some Meh, but it hardly matters anymore, we went there to have a late lunch after a friends graduation from the U of W and the windows are papered over and the signs are boarded over. they’re gone. there’s no ruby’s diner left in WA, the Woodinville location closed a few months ago.

I used to work next door to this place, and I only came here for the shakes. They weren’t that good and were ridiculously pricey…

This Ruby’s leaves me kinda meh. We eat there periodically because the location is good, the toddler likes the overhead trains, and it’s not super-expensive. Also, it’s quieter than Red Robin, especially RR’s Redmond location which is less than a mile away(that one seems especially loud to me). Last night, my whole-wheat turkey cheddar burger was OK except for the lettuce. Some was properly shredded, but most of it was in a single chunk of the core of the head, about half the size of my fist. That was not edible! When we pointed it out to our waitress, she was completely flustered, had no idea what to say, and finally said she’d be right back. She brought the manager over. The manager was nice enough and said she’d go talk to the folks in the kitchen. However, nobody apologized. Our bill was NOT adjusted, even a little bit. Free dessert was not offered. Replacement burger was not offered(more lettuce was, however). My son’s turkey corn dog was nearly burned and the stick was broken. That’s no fun for a kid. My husband’s corned beef hash and eggs over easy was something I could have made at home from a can and a few eggs, and it would have been less greasy. I was really underwhelmed. The lettuce and corn dog both represent seriously shitty quality control. It was not busy, either… I can tolerate these sorts of errors a little bit more if the place is packed and the kitchen is flying, but it was nowhere near that level last night. We might go again… location and trains… but I do not expect anything great or even that good from them. Bummer.

Ruby’s is a restaurant in which there’s a friendly atmosphere. The theme is good, being classic with Coca Cola and all. The service is good, with friendly waiters. The food, however, is more on the expensive side. I found the breakfasts to be more on the greasy side. The eggs I had at the time were oily to the taste and touch. The burgers I thought were OK, nothing too special. Overall, A good, average restaurant(food wise) and a great place for a family meal.

Compared to Red Robin, I do not know which one is better. Ruby’s has a great milkshake and malt selection as well as American Kobe beef but they have a smaller selection of burgers than Red Robin. I’m not a huge fan of the fries here because they’re thin, like McDonalds and I prefer the thicker wedges. The decfor was fun and reminded me of a 50’s diner as well as the outfits on the waiters. The place is definitely family friendly but not my top choice for a burger.

Ruby’s was an interesting place with a 50’s décor. My burger was below average. The fries were not good. But the atmosphere was colorful. Reminded me of Johnny Rockets with a little bit of Red Robin on the side. Perhaps the breakfast menu is better…

Best STRAWBERRYSHAKE in the galaxy, assuming the server makes it according to protocol. Fresh strawberries blended(not too much blending is best) with vanilla homemade-like ice cream. No whip cream needed.

What can I say that hasn’t already been said? This Ruby’s Diner has a fun atmosphere, in a pseudo-throwback-to-the-fifties sort of way, and it’s clean, and the kids like the trains chug chugging along on the tracks suspended from the ceilings. The Cokes from the fountain with real cherry syrup is good(I’m addicted to Diet Cokes, so it’s sometimes fun to jazz ‘em up). The kids’ menu is good. But for me, for the price, I’d way rather go to Red Robin where the portions are bigger and the salads, fresher and more varied.

Went to Ruby’s for lunch on a weekday. Gotta admit I love the atmosphere of this place. Like others have said, its a throwback to an old fashion diner. The place was spotless and not too crowded. Our waiter was not overly excited but she was attentive and refilled my diet coke without me asking so I can’t complain. This was my first time at a Ruby’s so I can only comment on what I ordered that day, which was a grilled cheese sandwhich. What can I say, I like the classics :) The cheese was thick and melty, my bread perfectly toasted, and my fries nice and crispy. Obviously not earth shattering because, let’s face it, it’s grilled cheese. But definitely a quality sandwhich and fairly priced. I wouldn’t go here expecting to be blown away but it’s worth a stop in if you are in the neighborhood and in the mood for a burger.

This is the best breakfast in Redmond. Which is a combination of Ruby’s having a reasonable, basic breakfast, and the rest of Redmond being a loss.

Greasy. Expensive. Too Many Kids. Not the best burger I’ve ever had… Won’t go back!

This is your standard 50’s burger joint replica. They have good burgers and I really liked the addition of the Kobe options. On the other hand, all of their Kobe burgers were rather exotic for my tastes that night. I just wanted a good burger and would have liked a straight Kobe cheeseburger. I ended up having the standard cheeseburger with Swiss. I must say, I think the sauce was really good. The waitstaff was fast, responsive and friendly.

The food is pretty good most of the time, but it’s pretty expensive for what it is.

Discovered Ruby’s Diner in Irvine, CA. Have visited the Redmond location a few times. The food is good. It’s not spectacular, but it’s predictable. At this point in my life and with children, that’s what I want. A menu that appeals to everyone and delivers consistent quality. When I want fine dining, I pay for it(usually without the children or extended members of my family). As a person of color, I have received very good service at this location.

I visited Ruby’s Diner by reference. The service was ok but we ordered some appetizers and just when I was going to have a bite… my food was already on the table. I would of really enjoyed by meal if I would have first finished enjoying the appetizers!!!

Came here today. Ordered 2 appetizers. Onion rings without sauce were almost cold. The zucchini was hot with sauce. Bathrooms were clean. Beautiful inside. Waiter was nice and happy. Asked her for my burger to be cut in half, she said of course, came and it was not cut. Asked the waiter that served it to bring me a knife as I requested it cut in half and it was not. Brought me the same silverware I had in my table with butter knife. No major issue but will not return. I have tasted better! The food did not have taste at all only the Coke we ordered and the milkshake.

When Lisa is my server, I always have a great experience. I haven’t been in for awhile, but when I do, I request her. They have an amazing parmesan-bread — when I feel like a sandwich, I get a patty melt with that bread rather than the default rye. I’d be embarrassed to work in a uniform like that, so I give the servers a lot of credit. I don’t really care about the décor or whathaveyou, I just care that my patty melt is delicious and my milkshake is thick. However, after reading the addition to Julia’s review, which mentioned their health code violations… I was thrown off. I will definitely not be ordering anything like a salad until I see a better health department assessment.

Impressive atmosphere branding of 1950’s style idealised americana. Coca-cola posters, 50’s style architecture, décor and values — white, family, male domain. I visited the diner at 11am on Sunday and ordered an eggs benedict. The food was good and reasonably priced. The place was busy with all sorts of people, families, single people like me. The décor was high quality eye-candy making for an excellent atmosphere. I loved the low-bar, the staff dress, the train running around a track suspended from the ceiling. The staff were personable. Another single lady sat at the bar chatted with me. all goodness. The lady next to me asked for a newspaper, they didnt have one. They don’t really cater for the single person passing the time. The staff wore a psuedo 1950’s uniform without the figure-distorting pointy-bra or foot-contorting high-healed CFM* shoes. The posters on the wall all advertised ‘coca-cola’ showing white people living the white-person;s dream. The only ‘people of color’(UK = Black) in the place were the serving staff. The clinicalness of this living museum to 1950’s prejudice that commoditises females as servers and sexual objects and hides the existances of black people as people was highly distasteful. I could see the kitchen staff, they all looked hispanic, unlike the customers. Come and see the 1950’s in all its shameful glory and design stylisim in this diner. or don’t. hmmmmm… I wont be going again. once is enough * cum f*** me
