Tully’s Coffee

hmmm… what happened? i used to love getting coffee here but lately, it’s been awful.
one barista seemed annoyed when i came in to get a latte 15min before they were closing. she kept telling me they were closing… ummm, ok, but i can still get a latte can’t i? there were still people sitting in chairs drinking…
i went back another time and ordered an iced latte.
as i was sipping it, i get a clump of something in my mouth. i spit it out on my finger and it was a clump of espresso grains. how’d that get in there?
anyway, i don’t think i’ll be back for a while.

Somehow i am a fan of this place. Nice coffee. a good fireplace comfy seats. Just feels so right. Doesnt stay very busy.
i like it. good place to study with almost no disturbance.

They used to have problems with the wifi, but it seems like that’s all been cleared up, it’s working fine now! Definitely my favorite coffee shop/​study spot in Redmond.

This place is a perfect blend of predictable coffee shop (it’s a Tully’s) and comfortable but bustling atmosphere. It has a fireplace and a bunch of comfortable seats scattered around. There are also a few big tables for large groups to meet at, which they do regularly.
There is also some outside seating which is great when we finally get some sun.
Best of all, the baristas are super friendly and always make a point of remembering your name and saying hi to you whenever you come in. Feels like home away from home.

Sadly the change police live here. If the bill comes to $ 2.02 they pile 98 cents into your pocket. No penny plate. No help from the staff. Rather they make you go to your car to get change to avoid the coin avalanche. Very Poor form. And besides $ 2.02 for a small tea its highway robbery. To many penny pinchers at the cash register. Give it a pass.

Although the menu items are similar (You can get coffee here!), this Tully’s probably is worth a mention. It’s part of the outdoor mall in this part of Redmond but it has some outdoor seating and a surprisingly spacious interior with wide windows looking out. Granted you’re looking out at the parking lot, but during the summer it’s nice to at least see some sunlight. There’s also a fair assortment of games and books for the little ones.
As for the service and food, I’d call it par for the course. I’ve never been served anything awful, but nothing really stands out. The baristas have neither been snooty nor friendly; just basic service here (and thus 3 stars).

Meh is right. The employees were friendly and they do have nice outdoor seating but that’s about it.
I am probably being too persnickety but their iced tea process is terrible. Any coffee shop these days that isn’t crazy busy is going to have a small staff, so you’re going to have to wait to place your order. I don’t have a problem with this. When you then have to wait 4 minutes while they individually brew your iced tea, that’s annoying. I imagine the baristas hate having to do this, I know it was super annoying when I worked for a certain coffee chain that decided they had to «shake» their iced teas. Not only do you have to wait longer than necessary but dumping hot tea over ice makes for luke warm bitter iced tea. Bleh.
The pastry and prepared food options are also meh, nothing looks very exciting and they even have some really unappetizing things like a big cup of cottage cheese with pineapple preserves on top.
I’ll stick to certain other coffee chains for my buckets o iced tea with a cheese plate.

I really dig Tully’s. Not only is their coffee better than the competition, but it’s just an overall more comfortable atmosphere and place to be. It does get quite crowded on weekends, but that’s expected I suppose.
They also give free refills on coffee and tea sometimes!

Cozy place to hang, drink coffee and bust out the schoolwork/​laptop. It tends to get crowded during the weekends now, especially since people seem to use it for a role-​playing hotspot what with it being relatively close to Games & Gizmos.
I’ve always found the people working pretty enjoyable and friendly.

I have gone here once a week to meet a friend for the past 3 years, but today might have been the last time. Yes, I love the atmosphere here, with the curvilinear window wall and the fireplace. They unfortunately got rid of the «throne chairs» that were recessed in one corner on high, but they still have some comfortable upholstered chairs by the fire. I prefer the coffee here to Starbucks (although I don’t often have coffee). That said, the staff here has had a 100% turn-​around lately, and now the new employees here are NOT accommodating to people’s wishes/​orders they way the old staff used to be. Just today, they barrista refused to honor my friend’s request to use her coupon for a «grande mocha or larger» towards a medium-​sized mocha. And my friend has gone to this Tully’s a minimum of three times every week for the past four or five years! She and I could not believe it. All the barristas and staff in the past wouldn’t have batted an eye to honor her coupons. Now, they will not — not her requests, or other regular customers. Less important quasi-​complaints: the place is way too air-​conditioned in the late summer/​early fall; and, the women’s bathroom leaves much to be desired (it’s sometimes dirty, and often, one of the two stall’s toilets doesn’t flush).
My friend and I agreed that we may have to start meeting at Victor’s Coffee from here on in…

Its been a few years since my last review and I’ve revised my opinion upward, mostly because it really is a good meeting spot for groups. I don’t drink the coffee so can’t comment about that and they sometimes mess up my extremely simple drink but if you view this as just a good meeting spot, it works out ok.

This is my favorite Tully’s café.
The coffee and service isn’t especially good in comparison to other Tully’s, but what I love is the atmosphere.
I usually come here to have some quiet time away from work and just relax. If you can get a seat by the fireplace, you’ve scored the best spot in the café and its easy to kick back and get work done or read a good book. The chairs are all comfortable and there is free wifi with no strings attached (unlike Starbucks) which provides a nice study area as well.
This is definitely a good Tully’s location, and is several times nicer than the Starbucks that is literally 50 feet away from it.

I’m not a huge fan of Tully’s beans, but great service, very clean and beautiful facility with great outdoor seating and free WiFi. Very profesional and friendly staff. Their drip isn’t bad. I’m just spoiled.

I often use this Tully’s as an «office» away from my office when conducting interviews, meeting with colleagues, or just needing to get in a new atmosphere. The spacious coffee shop is always bustling with people, but I have never had difficulties setting up camp for a few hours, or an entire day.
The one downfall of this Tully’s is how FREEZING it gets in the back. If you can park yourself next to the fireplace you will stay nice and toasty, but if you are using their conference table in the back make sure to ask for your drink extra hot, and wear an extra layer!
One of my favorite things about Tully’s is that they use rice milk! So I can indulge in a latte, or chai (both of which I can’t do at my more favorable coffee chain Starbucks).
Add in a package of Swedish fish or dried fruits, and you have made me the happiest person in the world Bella Bottega Tully’s…now if only you would turn up the heat!

I went to this Tully’s recently before a movie at the Bella in Redmond, WA. We got our coffee ordered then began looking for a spot to sit for a few minutes before our show… and there wasn’t one! We had to wait for a dad and two little boys to clear out before we swooped in on their seats.
The place was jam packed with people on their laptops (some even had brought their own extention cords so they could run wires all over the store to plug in) — and get this — NEARLY ALL OF THE PEOPLE ON LAPTOPS DIDN’T HAVE A TULLY’S PURCHASE ON THEIR TABLE… so they were simply there to use the free wifi and not buy anything. Crappy in my opinion. We watched two people arrive w/​laptops and NOT BUY A SINGLE THING.
Tully’s absolutely needs to enforce a ‘pay for y our wifi time’ at this location. They could keep the wifi code at the counter — so only people who buy something will be able to sign onto their wifi… it’s ridiculous that their paying customers were unable to enjoy their space because of the people there simply to freeload.

If Starbucks is the Mc Donald’s of coffee, this is certainly the Burger King.
Although I do like them for being consistent, I am getting more and more annoyed at the prices and the fact they are killing all the indie places.
(Extra points if you can look across the street and see how close the starbucks is)

I’m not a huge fan of Tully’s coffee but am learning my way around their menu and will stick with drinks that aren’t too affected by the coffee grinds or go with a straight black coffee with zero fanciness added.
What I do love about this store is the ability to accommodate a larger party. I came in with a group of girls to do pumpkin decorating in October. I called ahead and spoke with a manager and the set off a table for us. This store is GOOD size, cozy with lots of seating options inside, at a table for a meeting or to set up your lap top, by a fireplace, and smaller tables as well as seating outside the store. The staff is friendly and outgoing and the store is clean.
p. s. we love the 2 chairs that are set up higher along the wall like a shoeshine :)
