A gallery that shows a high end collection of local artists while supporting art in the South Bay — this gallery is a hidden gem in Redondo Beach. I sought out a place to teach my workshops a year ago and have found gallery owner Kevin Holladay to be supportive of individual artists and their success as much as he is interested in the gallery success. I have found an amazing place to teach and share my work while being inspired by other amazing artists. The openings are tasteful and attract hundreds of South Bay residents as well as others. The reputation as one of the best galleries in the South Bay is well earned.

A brand new gallery in South Bay! And thanks to a big article in local paper Easy Reader, I went to their first show tonight. Eighteen artists from eleven countries displayed their work in this absolutely beautiful space. The current show runs for only this weekend as I understand, but gallery owner Kevin Holladay told me there will be more shows to come as well as art on the walls at all times. And more: 608 North prints custom t-shirts in addition to selling antique furniture. Based on what I saw tonight, I think 608 North will do just splendidly as an art gallery. The colorful show included artists from the U.S., Mexico, Africa, Germany, Belgium, Hungary, England, Ireland, Iran, and Japan… working in a variety of mediums from painting to installation to graphics to sculpture to photography. Whew. The show title, «Around The World In A Day», was accurate indeed. I was compelled to take a bunch of photos, and yeah I ended up buying a little painting. 608 North is next to Cannery Row gallery, at Francisca & Catalina. Although the current show will be a tough act to follow, I can’t wait to see what’s next…
