Our First time here, great place to dine. Flyin Fin is right on Catalina street clean with basic setting and décor. The restaurant is pretty easy to find for causal dinning this place is a plus. For groups in my option call ahead for reservation the dinning area is pretty narrow. The attire is causal, family friendly kid friendly atmosphere. The parking is mostly street parking with meters which after 6pm is Free! Our experience was just okay I have them three stars since the host had us standing in from of the restaurant for setting for at least 10 – 15 not acknowledging us. We were a little upset since it was 5:35 and happy hour was about to end. We than were seated and the waitress took another 5 – 10 to approach us. It felt a little frustrating when we had to explain ourself and our waitress was hesitant about honoring our request. I guess is what to expect when you arrive at peck hours! Food was delicious we had Munchy Chruncky just perfectly prepared and 100 degrees yup a little spicy for me. Food timing was great. Drinks were general white red wine and sparkly wine and beers. We paid about $ 30 for two rolls and to white wines on happy hour prices.

Have mixed feelings about the place. The sushi bar counter is cluttered with wraps, nori containers you cannot have a conversation with the Chef without stretching around. I like to have conversation not blocked by messy items. Some of the sushi I had was«fishy» and not in the way you want it to taste. They would not allow me to order 1 pc had to be 2 pc… you’d sell more if you did 1 pc! Ordered the HH Sesame Chicken $ 5 was tasty large portion for HH and the batter was light did not overwhelm the chicken Orion Beer, $ 4.95HH price Salmon Trio Sampler $ 22 [Norwegian, Scottish & White] the white salmon was super fishy the Scottish was nice however the Norwegian was the best of the 3 certainly not worth $ 22 White Fish Trio Sampler $ 22 [Red Snapper, Golden Eye Snapper & Halibut] wasn’t a fan of the Golden Eye, don’t like my fish seared and I wasn’t asked. Again very pricey at $ 22 The Trio Samplers could have been purchased individually for less, not cool!

I mean do they have a roll called the«Pornado»??? Yes. Yes they do. For those interested — it’s spicy tuna, krab, avo, onion — all delicately dunked in the fryer, topped with regrets and shredded potato — a far cry away from my normal sush order of yellowtail/scallion, or, if feeling really buck wild, a medai sashimi — but, I placed my trust in my lovely Redondo guide, DS, who assured me that it was all effing unreal. And, reader, it was. Place was full but not cray — able to snag two stools at the bar at 7ish on a Friday — warmly greeted by the chefs — and before I knew it spicy edamame(garlic, hot sauce), blisteringly hot, was plunked in front of us and the games began. We started the the aforementioned soy glories as well as the seaweed salad(standard) — our neighbor had the coco poke(tuna, onion, sunomono, seaweed, truffle oil, and my side eye), which she thoroughly enjoyed — from the looks of it, the tempura is a win as is the fire cracker(spicy tuna, jalapeño, rice) — I pushed for the salmon skin salad as it looked crispy and divine, but my dining mate was less than thrilled with the idea, so sadly it was passed — if you want greens, they also do a cuc salad and a mixes leaves. Frisky. Their sashimi list is fairly real — the snapper(brushed with yuzu and love) was mouthmeltingly yum — regretted not hitting the halibut, salmon, yellowtail, and like pretty much everything else. Proportion of rice to fish, on point. If you want your tongue to smack you and ask what just happened, go for a special roll — the Meat Up! is steak stuffed w krab, spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, avo, cuc, jalapeño, salad, wrapped in soy paper, sin arroz — you know, totally what geishas have been feasting on your millennia. Or, try the Mega Omega 3 — salmon, spicy tina, salmon tempura, avo — or the Flying Fin — white fish, crab(not with a k), spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, cuc, avo, jalapeño). At D’s request, we did the 100 Degree(spicy tuna, jalapeño, cuc, avo, hot cihil oil, unagi sauces) — it’s a roll. I mean, it’s all good — but there is so much going on that it’s kind of a wonderful mouth cluster eff of flavors. Fresh fish though, rolls well assembled. If fish on fish on fish is your jam, this section of the menu won’t disappoint. Again. A roll is named Pornado. We got a surprise happy ending of albacore collar — nice, fresh — and if you’re not going with ppl into raw things, the black cod and garlic scallops are supposed to be aces. Service relatively attentive — though for the win, sit at the bar and buy the chefs drinks. Let the goods times roll. Starters clock in at $ 3.95−14.95, depending on how much fish is involved, sush will run you $ 6-MP, sashimi $ 14-MP, gringo AF rolls hit $ 10.95−15.95. Per D, strong lunch specials and a killer happy hour(basic rolls, $ 3 – 6, etc). Overall, though the menu may be based more in SoCal than Sakura, Seiyo, or Sakai, the fish is truly lovely — will return. Often.

Best. Ask for Chef special. Everything is good and fresh. Actually fresh. Good rotation of inventory and a busy place keeps the sushi awesome. If only it wasn’t so pricey for good sushi, I’d eat here everyday.

Favorite sushi place in Redondo Beach! They have a great lunch special. Their prices are reasonable and their quality is the best. All the rolls are great. Their albacore sushi is my favorite. You won’t be disappointed!

If I had visitors from out of town wanting sushi, this would be where I’d bring them. Inside is small, but they are very efficient. They rotate people through very quickly, mainly because the food comes out so quick, and the service is great! Started with the soft shell crab, and poke. Then, moved on to the Jaw Drop, 100 Degree, and Madness Medusa rolls. All were awesome, but the 100 degree was probably my favorite. The poke was some of the best I’ve had outside of Hawaii. I highly recommend trying it out. To break it down, the food is spectacular, the service is on-point, cleanliness would pass a white glove inspection, the atmosphere is exciting & fun, the location is great(lots of shopping, entertainment, desserts, and nightlife around), and not ridiculously expensive. The value for my experience was hard to beat. Come early, and write your name in the book just inside the door. This gets you on the waiting list(if there is a wait).

I eat here once a week, the sushi is fresh and the best! Jackie is an awesome sushi chef! If you can definitely eat at the sushi bar, it makes your visit so much funner. The Meat up is great if your cutting carbs or staying away from rice, it definitely hits the spot, so many flavors! The jalapeño bomb is delicious, a spicy kick but it does not take away from the flavor.

Our first time here and will not be the last. My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves! We ordered the coco poke, pornado, garden salad, mixed tempura, geisha roll, and scallop roll. Everything was delicious. The environment was cozy and the restaurant was very clean. We recommend this place to anyone craving sushi near the beach.

This has become our go-to for Sushi in the last couple years in the Southbay. Their fish is constantly fresh, even on the days you shouldn’t eat sushi. They have a great lunch menu and happy hour. On the weekends they can get busy and they unfortunately don’t take reservations. But if there was anytime we had to wait, it wasn’t any longer than 10min. Either way, the wait is worth it. No parking lot, only meter street parking but in redondo after 6, you don’t have to feed the meter.

Nice looking place on a quiet street. I was here for an early dinner before heading to a late night at work. Checked Unilocal!reviews & it sounded good. I got here in time for Happy Hour. I sat at the sushi bar & was immediately greeted by Alberto who took care of my order. There was only one other couple & I was waited on right away. There were quite a few choices-then I realized there was a back side. It’s has tons of choices! I got a sunomo salad to start-which was very good. I had already ordered a California roll & Crunch roll. The California roll was good. Clean, simple & no sauces. I planned to take it to go for lunch tomorrow but I ate enough to be just full & had 3 of each roll to go. Not the best I’ve ever had but really good, great price & fast & friendly service. I will be back.

Flyin Fin is a great casual sushi place in Riviera Village that is super clean and has SUPERAWESOME service. Parking is a challenge… I finally parked in the mass o meters about a block and a half away… but there was plenty of seating available for lunch on Saturday. The décor is pretty basic — sushi bar with about 152– and 4-top tables that can be combined to accommodate larger parties. Art is negligible — the art is the fish and the attentive service. I brought myself for lunch and savored: Seaweed Salad($ 4.95) — always an expensive choice but a must order for me. I love the chewy seaweed that is marinated and topped with sesame seeds. You get about 2⁄3 of a cup, and I devoured it. A little tip: add pickled ginger, if you are a fan. It is delicious. Mega Omega 3 Roll($ 12.95) — OMG. A thin layer of rice around soy paper filled with lots of spicy tuna and some salmon tempura and avocado that are topped with salmon sashimi and(per my request for an add) minced green onions with a tangy wasabi sauce and a sweet yuzu sauce. All of the fish was INCREDIBLY fresh, and the roll was easy to eat(in a couple of bites) rather than falling apart the instant that you take a bite. It was perfectly crafted with wonderful flavors. They have an extensive menu of yummy rolls. The servers are incredibly friendly and warm. The chef accommodates special requests. I cannot wait to come here again to try some more!

This place is a solid 3.5 stars but a little pricey in my opinion for what you can get elsewhere for cheaper. My hubby and I stopped in here this last weekend while we were out shopping in the Village. We had noticed the great reviews and stopped in for a quick bite. Service was friendly and quick. We ordered the following: Spicy Edamame: Good, garlicy, salty, not super spicy. Finger licking good. But $ 6? Coco Poke: Really good cut of fish. Comes in a cute coconut shell with a seaweed and cucumber salad.(Under the poke.) There’s a side of coconut water that you drink after. Honestly, I’m not sure now these flavors compliment each other. An odd combo that’s not necessarily a good one. $ 15 for a small serving… So many places you can get triple the poke for the same price. Pornado: I looooove fried stuff. And crunchy stuff. This was overkill. Really good flavors but it was surprisingly too much potato. Also, the size of the roll was too big! I needed to eat in 3 bites. I feel like when you have to take bites, you miss the compliments of the flavors together. All together, about $ 50 and that was without drinks and we weren’t stuffed… personally I think there are better places you can get more for your money with comparable food. I prefer Japonica for specialty rolls and Jus Poke for poke. Good if you are craving sushi and are in the area but I probably won’t be returning.

I’m a major sushi fan from Ohio, and I wanted to get some in LA while visiting my brother. Unilocal led us to Flyin Fin and we had an amazing and delicious sushi feast. I prefer nigiri and sashimi, while my brother prefers sushi with cooked fish, and they had something delicious for both of us. I enjoyed Santa Barbara uni, bluefin maguro and Toro, and flying fish nigiri with the pickled cucumber salad. My brother had golden-eye snapper nigiri and the«baked» and«omega 3» special rolls. The waitress and sushi chefs were friendly and accommodating and the price of our feast, plus a 750ml of sake was surprisingly low for the area. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in town.

Very good! I’ll have to come back and try more things before giving this place 5 stars, but for one visit I’m pretty happy. I came to this place around 8pm on a Thursday night after work. It’s nestled in the back of Riviera Village(ish) in Redondo. I was already parked in the area for something else, so I walked over and found it no problem. I ordered the Absolutely Amazing(with a name like that, how could I not) and an Unagi Roll. My only complaint about absolutely amazing was the light creamy salad dressing like sauce, which to me didn’t go with the rest of the flavor profile. Otherwise, it was very multiple dimensional, not like some sushi roll places where there is only an overwhelming taste of fake crab and mayo. Unagi roll was actually the star of the show. The unagi was fresh, almost like what I had in Japan. It was not overly sauced, but instead presented very simply with cucumber only. Absolutely Amazing was 13.95, and unagi roll 7.95. So for one person, it ran me 27 bucks after tip, but good sushi is not cheap I guess. Overall, I’d come back to try the rest of the menu.

When it comes down to beyond your ordinary sushi roll, this place will introduce you to a whole new line of sushi rolls. This place is small and is very popular. The food is very fresh and that is what keeps people coming back. I recommend making a reservation or calling ahead just in case to avoid waiting to be seated. Anyways onto the food: I’ve come mainly to see the variety of rolls. Pornado 7⁄10. The roll is tasty but, not anything that stimulates the taste buds. The presentation was the best of all the rolls. Madness Medusa 6⁄10. The blend of flavors is quite unique from the other rolls served here. I love the taste except I wasn’t too fond of the ponzu sauce. It gave the sushi more of a tangy flavor which was uncommon. Flyin Fin 10⁄10. This is a MUSTORDER. The combination of seafood and fish are excellent together. You can taste a little bit of everything in each bite. Oh crab! 10⁄10. The soft shell crab rolls have never disappointed me. This roll has a nice crunch to it from the deep fried soft shell crab. I will be back to try the other flavors.

This place is really good spot to get a fix your sushi cravings. We showed up for lunch and they had a cool special, buy one sushi roll and get the other one 50%. Why not right? We ordered the Madness Medusa and the jaw drop. One thing to expect is this spot isn’t your classic sushi spot. They have a more modern or expressive take on sushi. Atleast the rolls we ordered lol. Jaw drop was lightly fried and came with a hot sauce. Pretty heavy probably because it was deep fried. Medusa roll was not bad. The only thing that I didn’t like was the crispy onion topping. Overall I would eat here again for a quick fix, I wouldn’t come back though if I was craving your classic sushi dishes. This spot is more innovative than classic. Next time I’m coming back to try the Uni Oyster shots or the Amazing roll

Heard about the Flyin Fin through a friend, and was pleasantly surprised. This is going to be my new local spot for fresh fish! I ordered a few rolls, but loved the yellowtail sashimi and the Medusa Madness! I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the rolls, but I wished I had more sashimi! The service made me feel at home with the sushi chef Alberto who was funny and welcoming! Definitely will be back!

Flyin Fin is a small sushi restaurant located in Redondo Beach. They definitely have a creative take on sushi in the sense that they use ingredients not typical in sushi rolls. For some of their special rolls at least. We were greeted by a not so happy looking server. She seemed the type that would bite someone’s face off but luckily she didn’t do that. She brought us to a table near the back and then we proceeded looking at the menu. Their menu includes appetizers, soups, salads, special rolls, nigiri, and sashimi. They have a lunch special menu and a dinner special menu. They also have happy hour which is Monday through Friday 3 to 6pm. I ordered one of the special rolls called the Absolute Amazing. It’s stuffed with real crab meat and topped with tuna, salmon, shrimp, and avocado. The crab meat was pretty flavorful. However, there were instances where I felt the crab was a bit crunchy. I realized I was chewing into bits of crab shells. Yikes. The rice portion of the sushi was soft and the seaweed was easy to bite into. They also put some kind of special sauce making the top of the rolls saucy sweet. Overall, the roll was pretty good but they really need to be careful with how they prepare the crab meat. Because of the crab shell bits, I couldn’t finish my set of sushi rolls. So no, it was not Absolute Amazing but more like Crunchy Crab. I also ordered California Rolls. They stuffed a lot of imitation crab in the center. The imitation crab mixture was pretty good, the rice was soft, and the seaweed here was easy bite into as well. Out of nowhere, one of the cooks offered us the Top Secret Special Roll for free. That was a nice gesture. The menu doesn’t say what it has like for the description it literally says«???» for the ingredients. However, from the looks of it, I was able to guess that it does have spicy tuna, tempura, topped with baked salmon. Maybe there’s more ingredients but that’s what I know it has so far. This was a good sushi roll. We also ordered other sushi rolls as well as sashimi. Everyone enjoyed the sushi rolls and sashimi. I did try the salmon sashimi. It was good and was fresh. But I’ve had better elsewhere. Food arrived promptly and the service was pretty good even with the feisty looking server. They came by a few times and asked us if we needed anything. Overall, they have decent sushi and sashimi. The reviews made it seem over the top like it’s the best place ever but it isn’t. And getting some crab shell bits in the sushi rolls is a bit of a hazard. I may be back to try more rolls but I just wouldn’t order any sushi rolls with real crab meat!

Amazing! Hands down the best sushi place I’ve been to in awhile. We tried the Coco poke which was served in a coconut with coconut juice over rice. The poke was plentiful and covered in truffle oil and sesame seeds over green seaweed salad and cucumbers. It was fresh and delightful Salmon sashimi — 6 pieces… a classic in my book and tasty. Blue fin tuna-6 pieces and oh so fresh! It practically melted in my mouth. I wanted more. Albacore-6 pieces and same story… super fresh. Was going to have it seared and the waitress said please don’t do that its so fresh and yummy and it was. Halibut-sushi size but only halibut because we were getting full. Very high quality and almost translucent topped with lemon sea salt. Oyster shooters-also great definitely try them Monkey scallop –my favorite thing. We ended up w two orders because they were amazing & I was afraid I may never taste anything as fresh again. It was topped w lemon sea salt and tasted like what I think sunshine would taste like. The other great thing is the wait staff… very attentive. y
