Very authentic, the owners are Japanese, and so were most of the patrons when I visited. Very friendly service.

Great Food. Slow Service. Please hire more staff! 1 sushi chef and 1 waitstaff doesn’t work.

Great fish but bad atmosphere. The quality of the fish was very high and refined but the experience was terrible :( We ordered omakase, and sadly although the selection was a great lineup of fish, in my experience, omakase is a tailored experience that specifically caters individually to the ordering patron. This chef rushed us through our experience and gave us a standard combo meal experience. I’d go back if the chef would respect the meaning of omakase and give us a unique individually-based experience. Hate to state the obvious, but there were 4 other Japanese girls in there who received significantly different treatment

Wow. Surprise, surprise! Upon a recommendation of one their current patrons, I went with a slight bit of hesitation as I am Japanese and know what good sushi tastes like. I constantly have friends who recommend various local sushi bars claiming they are«the best» but unfortunately I am typically disappointed… until now. Kurisaki has the taste and feel of a true Japanese sushi restaurant. If you like the typical«California style» sushi, which drowns the flavor of the fish in some mystery sauce and crunchy crap, this is not the place for you.(FYI, they typically do that so they can get away with buying cheap fish). Kurisaki is a very traditional sushi bar and worth every penny you spend. The quality speaks for itself… you get what you pay for. Do not compare these prices to the«other» local restaurants because it’s not comparing apples to apples. I had the salmon, albacore, crispy rice spicy tuna, shrimp tempura roll, yellowtail with serrano peppers, and the spring roll. Add some beer in between and you have just had a meal that makes you feel like you have died and gone to heaven. Next time, I am going to let the the chef make his recommendations and take complete control of my meal. I think it’s a good way to explore foods outside of my comfort zone. If I could give Kurisaki more than five stars I would. Thank you to all the staff and chef for making my first experience a memorable one. As Arnold said in The Terminator, «I’ll be back!»

Living in South Bay, I hate driving to east side. Then I found kurisaki. So creative and fresh and 10 min from my house!!! Try his omakase!

I love this place. I found it on Unilocal and all the reviews are true. The fish is so fresh and high quality. The service is great, and the food is just delicious. I love the spicy tuna roll, and the fresh albacore sushi both are amazing. If you are looking for a quality sushi place you have look no further Kurisaki is it!

Too slow! Only one chef — it doesn’t make sense !! It took 30 min to get my two pieces of sushi. I prefer other sushi place next to liquor store!

i feel compelled to write another(!) review of this place. since its opening i’ve been here for no less than 6 – 7 times. every time the sushi was nothing short of exquisite. in this review, i would like to point out that the owner and his team really do care about customers’ experience. they do in fact read Unilocal reviews and make an effort to identify the customers so they can continue to improve. recall my somewhat embarrassing gripe about the small cod size last june(when they first opened). they’ve since upgraded the size with the same delicious taste(which i tried again). the owner even personally thanked me as a reason for their improvement, which made this an even more humbling experience for me.

I am sad that this is my rating for this place. I agree that this is probably the best sushi spot in South Bay in terms of quality of fish. I took my friend there so that we can both have a few hours to ourselves after the first three months of taking care of newborns. The initial experience was great, very authentically Japanese. The food on the menu was also very authentic. All great stuff. The problem was the timing and the pace. We got there are 7pm and at 9:45pm we still hadn’t received all of our food. We ordered a total of 6 items or so. We were happy to chat but it didn’t look like any more food was coming. We had to go home to get some sleep and be ready for 4−5am wakes up from our babies. Maybe if we weren’t moms, we could have waited but it was way too long. The rice, the food, the fish were all fantastic quality but when the sushi chef has to go into the kitchen to wash dishes, something is wrong with the management of the restaurant. Plus, having an upset stomach the next morning didn’t give me great confidence in the quality. In all honesty, I would like to try this place again but my expectation will be much longer and I’ll be sure to set aside 4 hours for this meal.

Went back as 2nd time to have a dinner to celebrate a special occasion. This is my favorite sushi restaurant in South Bay. I ordered chef’s special as last time, and It was amazing as last time. I also like family atmosphere and very kind service. Every piece of sushi including today’s special toro tobanyaki(omg. It melts in your mouth!!!) was amazing and was prepared just perfect as you wish. At the end they gave me a holiday card which is super sweet, but when I got home I realized I forgot to take it with me. Hope it didn’t hurt their feeling. I really appreciate their kindness. I will for sure go back again to get chef’ special.

Although I’ve only been dating my man friend for a little bit, so far he has smoked every man I’ve ever dated. I have a hectic schedule at times and I was going to come home late. Earlier in the day, I tagged him a picture of a shashimi platter I found with caviar on it. So, he takes it upon himself to buy me 2 different kind of bottles of Pinot noir and he ordered take out for me. He asked the sushi chef if he could recreate the photo I had tagged him in earlier, and he did. Almost nailed it. He brought home 5 platters for me to eat from. I adore him. Can’t wait to be back to try this place in person.

Arguably the best sushi spot in the South Bay. Don’t come here and expect fancy rolls with trendy names. This is a place that uses top quality fish, perfectly crafted rice and traditional cuts and preparations. The toro and salmon here are my favorite. As much as I want to keep this place a hidden gem I also want to make sure it stays open and thrives for a very long time. It’s that good.

This place is absolutely fantastic! Chef, Mr. Kurisaki worked in Matsuhisa for 19years and I LOVED all the dishes and sushi he has created for us. So happy that he is in our neighborhood! クリサキシェフが作る美味しくて繊細なお寿司や前菜!オススメですよー!

I liked this location when it was Naka but this is a major upgrade. As a former resident of Japan and self-proclaimed Japanese food lover, I’m a bit of a sushi snob and I say Kurisaki rules! Incredibly delicious and perfect sushi and sashimi. As a former chef at Matsuhisa, he’s learned his craft well and I’m delighted he’s chosen Redondo Beach for his restaurant. I no longer need to go far for world-class sushi, it’s right here. I’ve raved about the sushi and sashimi, but I also enjoyed the octopus appetizer and the«mini sukiyaki with wagyu(Japanese beef)». Lastly, nice ambiance with jazz music playing and nice décor.

What a great find on a Sunday night. Husband and I were in the area and decided to give this place a try. They have parking in back. Walked in and it was like stepping back in time to an old sushi joint; minimalist décor(perfect). We sat at the table by the front window. They were playing Jazz(awesome) and there were only 2 other couples there(both sitting at the sushi bar), so a great little date spot. Drinks: Sapporo beer for my husband Nigori Sake for me Food: Sashimi platter of the Day-Good. Toro, salmon(husband loved this) mackerel, octopus,(one more, can’t remember) Yellowtail yuzu soy sauce starter-Very Good, but unoriginal. Toro w/Yellow Pickle Roll-Excellent. Spicy Tuna Roll– Very Good. Sukiyaki wagyu w/quail egg-Excellent. Good presentation and good sushi. The standouts for me were the Toro w/Yellow Pickle Roll & Sukiyaki Wagyu; really enjoyed these. Further, service was excellent and the pacing of the food was perfect. I wish they were located closer to me.

I saw good reviews on Unilocal and immediately bookmarked this place. I was eager and excited to try Kurisaki when we made plans to have dinner there last week. Although the service was very good and extremely attentive, we found the sushi and food rather humdrum. Hand rolls and nigiri were average and shrimp/chicken skewers were dry. Granted, part of our order did include some abalone nigiri, the bill was $ 160 for the both of us. I don’t mind spending money on good sushi, but I thought that was quite steep for an average meal. For that amount I feel I’ve definitely had better.

Kurisaki serves GREAT sushi, albeit expensive. You definitely pay for quality here, but the sushi is worth it. I particularly like the salmon skin hand rolls, but the aburi toro sushi and the foie gras & white fish also are great. Service can get a bit slow during peak hours, but the servers are very sweet and professional.

Wow, that is literally the first word that came to mind when I had my first bite at this place. The fish is so fresh and delicious. Before you read the menu, review the specials board, it is full of tasty bites. I started simple with toro sushi, it was amazingly fatty and melted in my mouth. Next I went with a salmon skin hand roll … And then another one because the first one disappeared too fast into my belly. I’m fairly picky when it comes to sushi spots, and I had zero complaints for this place. Everything I tasted was delicious and well portioned. Speaking of portions, this place is more traditional than most generic sushi places in the area, so don’t expect huge over sized portions and massive rolls that fall apart when you pick them up. Rather expect to order several small plates that are appropriately sized. Also, the saki and beer are moderately priced, so don’t plan on doing saki bombs all night. I’m very excited to return to KuriSaki again.

Food was fantastic! Service was excellent! When I go to eat out Sushi, usually go to the best ones that I have been to, or someone recommended. If I’m gonna be in the Redondo Beach area and craving for good Sushi, or even good Sake with snacks, this is the place I will go to. It’s REALLY good :)
