After repeatedly calling 5 times and being put on hold at 3pm for a reservation and reading how poorly their service is I have moved on. VERYNOT impressed.

Great place on Redondo Beach! The food yummy and the drinks strong with a lovely view of the waterfront. Things that weren’t so great: they took my phone number to text me when our table was ready. They didn’t text but luckily we came back and they gave us the next table. It was freezing cold in the restaurant! Every time the door to the patio opened(which was constantly as the wait staff go in & out all the time) it would blow a draft right at us. There are patio doors everywhere so it seems hard to avoid this.

So first Wednesday is all you can eat snowcrab so totally couldn’t pass that up. It wasn’t packed so that was nice. Wait staff was friendly. We did wait a bit of time for someone to come but once they came the service was good. I recommend the Chesapeake flavor of crab. Also, try the shark bite drink. My only problem is wish they’d bring more crabs out when the give the refills. Pretty good experience.

Well I normally go to the Ventura Joe’s but it’s now closed. It will be missed. I call to make a reservation and got a text reply. Thinking I am good. They lost it. It was not busy. So got a good table. The place is nothing like the Ventura place. This place was dead. No music and The staff did not look happy. Took over 20 min Before they came to take my drink order. So we Placed our order. We where not ask what flavor For our crab pot. We told him. Just dropping off The crab stuff with no fan fair like the other tables. When or food came no condiments had to ask a Few times. And still had to ask for butter and Lemon. You think if you get crab you would get that. The crab was bland and cold. Crab cakes Where dry. It’s a shame such a beautiful location Is wasted on a place that’s boring and bland. I may never go to another Joe’s. It was that bad.

Place is average. Other locations are better by far. Food was okay. underseasoned and uneven temperature. my mussels were so far overcooked they disintegrated in my mouth. Gross! Scallops were tasty but only three and tiny. The service was friendly and nice; our order was miscommunicated and they rectified it quickly with no fuss. Willow, our server, was great. Food needs improvement along with the bathrooms. Ambience is fine minus a few consecutive babies(obviously not under their control)

I will never go here again — Food poisoning! My group of five(three adults and two 16 month old children) all went to eat lunch. Within hours all 3 adults got long lasting diarrhea and nausea and one child got diarrhea/nausea/fever/vomiting. But one child didn’t get sick, but oh, that was just the child which REFUSED to eat any of the food there. That’s not a coincidence. I’m both embarrassed and sorry that I’m «that guy» because for the first time I filed a formal health complaint with the city. I talked to a couple other friends of mine today who’ve eaten there and they immediately started sharing their experience about getting food poisoning also. If this wasn’t enough to deter me from returning the service is. Our table was rarely checked on and our order was messed up. Over half the restaurant was open but they sat us at the table with the sun directly blaring into our face. I don’t really feel like paying $ 90 again to feel like crap for the next few days. The food isn’t even that good.

Joe’s Crab Shack has a very unique and fun environment. When you walk in, you feel like you’ve just pulled into a restaurant on the beach. Joe’s offers a patio area to sit in front of the refreshing view of the ocean. The restaurant specializes on different recipes of crabs(dungeness, snow, and king). They do serve up some of the juiciest and tastiest crabs served in casual dining experience. There’s also plenty for those who aren’t feeling crabby — including salads, sandwiches, chicken and steaks. The food is decent depending on what you order and the service is somewhat cheerful. Joe’s is always a solid place to get some quick seafood if you’re around the Redondo Beach area.

Place ain’t too shabby. I think for what you get it’s pretty reasonably priced. I didn’t mess around with any of the fried stuff or non-crab dishes. Honestly, you could probably do better elsewhere. BUT! I don’t think you’ll find a better deal on the big steamed pot thingies. I got the Cajun Special, which was filling. I mean, it’s not out of this world, but you’re also not paying out of this world prices. Too bad they charge you $ 4 for parking even though you’re eating there. Kind of a ripoff. Also, our service was pretty bad. I’d say it was our individual guy, but even at the end no one was helping up. This is despite numerous servers doing other stuff like getting ready for closing. Oh well.

My boyfriend loves this place. Well in fact I do also. He got the Samuel Adams Steam Pot and was very happy with it. I usually get the King Crab Bucket, but this time I thought I’d try the fish, shrimp and chips. We’ll it was very tasty. The shrimp was made to perfection. The fish was very tasty but very difficult to eat. It fell apart when you tried to pick it up with your fork or hands. So instead of dipping it I had to pour the sauce over it and the scoop it up to eat it. Otherwise it was very good.
