Heh heh… The price of our dinner must have been outrageous! We came as a family ~ kids at the kid table, adults doing their own thing.(Yeah, even if we’re in our 20’s we get seated at the kid’s table) We just ordered the P.B. roll, Shrimp Tempura roll, dragon roll, crazy roll, California roll, spicy tuna roll, and salmon roll. We peeked over at the adult table and snagged some crab, spicy seafood soup, and seaweed salad from them. No worries, we offered to share our rolls too. Grandpa agreed with us that the P.B. roll was a home run ~ We ordered more! Like I said, the check must have been outrageous kekeke. Especially with the naughty kids just ordering anything and everything. You can see the menu here:

So I went fishing for a few hours and what do I decide to do afterward? Buy fish… go figure. I just wanted a few pieces of sashimi to tie me over until dinner so I went to Redondo Sushi and sat in the corner on account of my fishy fragrance and fashionable fishing attire. Appetizing, huh? The lady comes over to me with a smile as always and asks me what I would like. I just said, «Sashimi». They must know I dont like salmon by now as she came back with a plate of tuna, lots of halibut(my fav) with a decent portion of engawa( ), which is arguably the best part of halibut as it’s rarely ever on a menu in my experience, and what I assume to be escolar, yet unsure even to this day due to a language barrier. Hey I was shipped here when I was 1 yr old. I digress. I debated asking for more escolar but one must be careful when eating escolar( ). Instead I ordered abalone sashimi. Yum. I was tempted to order more but I maintained a bit of self control, in fear of getting the shits from the escolar. Tuna was ok, halibut was extremely fresh, escolar was slightly frozen but delicious, and abalone was live and in the tank. Please take into consideration that I fish avidly and heavily scrutinize freshness of fish almost to a fault and rarely buy fish. Thanks for ruining my dinner that night, Redondo Sushi. It was worth it.

uhh… i came here with a group of 5 for dinner… interior was nice, clean, spacious. service was pretty good. food was not that great… was expensive… portions were small… we ordered a side of mixed tempura and a large combo sashimi thing… which came with: salad, spicy squid salad, seasnails, edamame, abalone porridge, oden soup, a caterpillar roll, plate of sashimi, small plate of abalone and sea squirt, 2 crabs(we asked for a bottle of soju instead of one of the crabs. so 1 crab), seafood soup. sounds like a lot of food. uhh…but not really. well…they brought out little plates of food for us to eat before the fish. after we ate it all. we were still hungry. then came the oden soup and mixed tempura… uhh not filling… then the roll… ok something that could partially fill our stomachs. but we could only get one/two pieces each. then finally the sashimi plate we were waiting for… along with the abalone+sea squirt. uh.wait…is that all? the plate was so small… and they didnt even give us much fish. it was pretty sad actually… we started picking at the food to eat, and then there was nothing left. ok… but wait! we still have 1 crab and the seafood soup left! they came… and our stomachs were still not full… the pot of soup was small… and went around just enough for one small bowl for each of us. we were hungry, adn they knew it… so they gave us service. fried fish. thank you! but it was the size of my hand… still hungry, the offered us anothe pot of oden soup… ok…not exactly filling. then they specially… thats what they said. SPECIALLY offered us nooroongji(boiled rice with water)…WOW…really? youre REALLY gonna give US nooroongji as a special? WOOHOO! yea…so if we hadnt ordered a side of tempura, we probably would have been even more hungry… and we basically paid about $ 200 and left after filling our tummies with rice, rice, some more rice, and some soup. not worth it, not going back. there are so many more places that give you so much more of better quality for that price. no thank you.

I effin love sushi rolls! A Mexican eating sushi? Believe me, I’ve see much weirder things like the time I saw a… well I won’t go there. My mom, brother and I came here for Easter dinner. None of us had ever been here let alone known this place existed! We just ordered a ton of different rolls and of course I had to indulge in a couple Cali Cones! Have I mentioned that I love Cali Cones? Everything was really good and I liked the way they cut the rolls real thin. Everything tasted fresh and presentation was nice. The servers were nice and funny(I like when there is a language barrier.) There is so much of a variety of food you can’t help but to want something. The only thing I didn’t like was that it smelled really fishy but what can you expect when it’s on the pier. Will I again… Yes but I like to try new places so it might be a while. Tutalu!

Went here for my bday with my wife and ordered the combo #1. It’s $ 75, but you get sooooo much. It was like a course meal, I was so stuffed by the end of the meal. Good quality meal. You get salad, sashimi plate, whole crab, two different soups, and many small sides. Nice view as well.

A cool dining experience, mainly for the variety of items. This is a Korean owned restaurant, even if the tagline on their logo says Japanese cuisine. We ordered the combo meal for four, with the live sashimi. Meal started off with Korean side dishes(banchan) and these tiny little snails. They were probably about a cubic centimeter each, and served with toothpicks. Apparently, you use the toothpick to pick off the little protective covering, then stab into the snail shell and pull out the little critter from inside. You get a tiny little morsel of tasty snail for all that work. I think after that they brought out four large oysters. I love oysters, and the one I had was delicious. I had it unadulterated, though they did provide Tabasco and lemon if desired. Next came the sashimi — a large plateful of fish that had apparently been alive earlier in the evening, though I don’t remember the type of fish. There was also a smaller platter of abalone and I think sea urchin? Note that while wasabi is provided, the traditional Korean items are there as well — lettuce wraps, soybean paste, red pepper paste, tec. Next came the crabs — two whole crabs that had been quartered and wooden mallets. Fun! The drawn butter they provide is so rich and thick — heart attack waiting to happen. I don’t remember the rest of the meal — there was some soup, some rice, and some spicy stew, but the 5 of us were definitely stuffed at that point. Definitely not cheap, but a very cool experience.

Overpriced, small portions… I don’t think I’ve ever had smaller/thinner portions of sushi anywhere else. So you’re charging me for location? Then why have the lights inside so bright that you can’t even look out to see the scenery? I’m on the pier overlooking the ocean at night… I’d like to see it. Turn down the lights people! Not only was our view nonexistent, but the service was slow, the portions were too small, over priced and for just average bland rolls. To top it off, they got the order wrong for the scallop roll. We said no mushrooms. they bring it with mushrooms and no scallops. Still give us a hard time when we send it back and want it off our bill. They did take it off though. Anyway. I won’t be back.

I am really not sure why there are so many bad reviews. They may not be 5 stars, but they are much better than 1 or 2 stars. Of course the price is expensive, you are overlooking the ocean, eating fresh seafood. They have wonderful combo menus which allow you to try a variety of different seafood without breaking the bank. Ambience– Excellent view of the ocean from the top floor of a two-story building. Cleaner than the two other korean seafood restaurants nearby. Food– Excellent value. You get a bit of everything including a wealth of side dishes, abalone, fresh sashimi, steamed crab, and spicy fish stew as a combo. Can’t remember the price but it was around $ 250 with tip for a family of 5. Service– Attentive and friendly. Not much more you can ask in terms of service. Sure there are a wealth of options for seafood in Redondo Beach, but we’re definitely coming back to this one.

This place is nice. From the $$$$ I had decided to take my wife there for an early Valentines day(why fight the crowds?) I called and made reservations so we would be sure to have a seat. When we arrived, my first sign that we were not in a $$$$ establishment was the fact that the open sign was lit by a surge protector hanging off the ground by a cable that went inside the building through the door. They had been expecting us, when we walked in we were led to a table with a reserved sign on it. It was cute, being that we were the only people in the place. My next sign that this place was not $$$$ was the individually wrapped chopsticks and the spiral bound menu. The food was not very pricey, and we pigged out on quite a bit. The food was decent, the staff was nice(though their English was very rough). The view was also nice, but it would be much more impressive during the day, the very bright lighting inside makes it difficult to see outside at night. All told, we had a nice evening for just under $ 100.

This place is great. Fast service and you get complimentary edamame and salad. They are very friendly. If you get there early or aren’t in there when there is a crowd everyone there is ready to get you anything you need. Sometimes yyou even get complimentary green tea ice cream… yum! Try the crazy roll — delish!

This place is okay, but besides the view, there’s not much to offer. The sushi was decent, but we didn’t care for the tempura — too greasy, weird texture. Lighting was a little too bright, and service was pretty spotty. They were overworked and couldn’t really attend to us. There were several Japanese families here eating crab, which seemed to be a big attraction — since we didn’t try it, can’t comment, but maybe that’s this place’s saving grace. Otherwise, skip it.

My family liked the place. It was little bit of a trek for us(coming from South OC) but why not try something new. The place was little bit difficult to find per my stupid nav. in my car but eventually made it to the parking lot(we parked on the parking lot off W. Torrance on right-hand side). The place was nice and clean. It looked like any other Japanese/Korean eateries. We ordered Combo D dinner(for 4 – 5 people) and the total bill was around $ 200(beers + Soju). I really enjoyed the food — especially the crabs and sashimi. The service was excellent(prompt and friendly) as well as the view. Cheers,

From what I’ve heard from many other people, I heard that the owner here is really mean and rude. It’s very pricy and I was told that they use the same food twice. Meaning, whatever they used for first customers, they use it again for the second customer. Overall, they are really rude and mean. :(

OK. So my 9 year old daughter is a seafood fanatic like me. My uncle took us out for dinner last night to Hwa Ruh(in Korean) or Redondo Sushi as it were. First you see all the seafood in the tanks… crabs, lobsters(both kinds), live prawns… gets you going. So my daughter says, I hope we get«A-C-L-O». That’s Abalone, Crab, Lobster, and Oysters. We didn’t get oysters but we got everything else but. Now I don’t know how much the meal cost but this is what we got: 1) edamame and tiny snails 2) red snapper sashimi 3) Abalone and«mong gae»(not sure what it is in english) sashimi. 3)lobster sashimi(still alive, with gold leaf) 4)crabs steamed(with mallet and all) 5)eel/avocado roll 6)soft shell crab roll 7)Spicy Lobster stew made out of the remains of the lobster sashimi. Oh this was good. The only thing is, don’t try and eat any other part of the lobster sashimi other than the tail which is beautifully presented. I tried to crack and eat the claw, and let’s just say that duelling with a still«alive» lobster claw is bizarre. Leave it so they put it in the stew. I really really loved this meal.

My family and I were in the mood to smack down some crabs on March 23th2008 and headed to the place famous for crabs and seafood — Redondo Beach Pier. We saw an ad in the Korean newspaper for a Grand Opening of a new Sushi place on the pier and decided to go there. The place is called Redondo Sushi where Pacific Edge California Bistro used to be. As with all the seafood restaurants, this place was also packed with people hungry for crabs. After waiting about 30 minutes in the sushi bar we were seated at our table. We had ordered a combo for 4 – 5 people($ 129). The combo came with generous amounts of thick cuts of sashimi. From what I can remember there was salmon, tuna, white tuna, abalone, sea cucumber, and this other fish(forgot the name). It also comes with one eel roll, two steamed crabs, one fish cake soup, one spicy fish soup, and rice. And I know I’m forgetting something but it was plenty of food for all four of us. Everything tasted great and enjoyed the service too. The waitress and waiters were all young but seem to be working very hard. I would recommend this place for a nice evening out with your family.
