Closed? Got introduced to this place by a fellow Kiwanis board member for our monthly meeting/social events early last year. Place was great for an informal hangout with plenty of table space for board games fun. I enjoyed their iced coffee drinks as well. No minimum order needed to hang out here. Too bad this will no longer be an available option for future socials. =/

They have been evicted and are CLOSED! Eviction notice in the window. We were there 15 min ago on 9−28−14.

As of September 2014, much like their location on the Redondo Beach Pier, this location had a notice on the front door regarding some sort of «eviction» I speculate the business is not faring well in today’s economy. It’s a shame to see such a nice neighborhood boutique coffee shop go away and business owners dreams turn to nightmares. From the reviews of friends(I don’t drink coffee), it was a good place that rivaled or at least was on par with their chain contemporaries like Starbucks, Peets, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, etc. This location used to be Smoothie spot, so I’d be curious to see who moves into this location next…

This coffeehouse is good, but the ambiance is a little weird. However, if the table outside is available, it can be nice to sit out there when traffic isn’t too loud on Artesia. The drinks are tasty, but nothing special and I’ve gotten a breakfast sandwich here too. It was dry, but still tasted ok. I would recommend this place for coffee and tea, but it doesn’t feel like a neighborhood coffeehouse. It lacks personality and it can be hard to find a seat because of people on their laptops. Despite these comments, I’ll keep going there because it’s the only coffeehouse in the area.

Just stopped by my neighborhood coffee spot and the place was closed! There was a Notice of Eviction posted on their window which had today’s date… And the place was ghost. What happened???

if i can give more than 5 stars, i would! sadden by the sudden news they are closed down … hopefully, momentarily! — over the past year and half this place has been my go-to for studying, meeting up with girlfriends, and decompressing! They have the best espresso in the South Bay. best americano and ice americano ever! the staff are super friendly! everyone is so nice and willing to make my complicated but simple americano! i don’t know where i can find a gem like this again. – Please reopen soon! I totally love your shop! Thank you to Phil who always make sure that I get the best cup of Americano ever & his awesome staff. Friendliest group of baristas I’ve encountered! Take care and good luck with your business venture!!!

Neighborhood Grinds serves great coffee and yummy food/pastries! What’s not to love?!(EXCEPT… I wasn’t a huge fan of the strawberry/blueberry scone… but that was the only pastry I didn’t like… hehe) My sister and I usually go here to kill time or study. They do have free wifi and it’s pretty fast so that’s a big plus for us(bc ain’t no body got time for slow wifi)… Unfortunately, space is kind of limited so calling in before just to check if there are any open tables would be best! I’m not a huge fan of lattes in general but my sister loves their vanilla latte and cappuccino. I tend to stick with the boring iced black coffee or americano which tastes awesome! NOTBURNTATALL! WOOHOO. The staff are super friendly and informative! I will continue coming here when I’m back at home for the weekends!

I usually am a tea drinker but read about the dark chocolate mocha and it is amazing! Topped with the home made chocolate whip, pretty dam delicious. I got the small and it’s perfect for someone like me who isn’t an avid coffee drinker(and they gave us the extra micha left over in a small cup, pretty sweet :)) Plus, such a cute lil coffee shop and love this chill ambiance with their bg music. Will prob be coming more often!

I normally don’t rate places so highly, but this coffee shop has now become my go-to spot for two main reasons: 1) The dark chocolate mocha. I mean… I am absolutely obsessed with that drink. OBSESSED. The whip cream on top is ridiculously light and creamy, and when it mixes with the coffee below– wow. Perfection. It’s always a challenge whenever I need to stop myself from buying more than 1 cup whenever I visit.(Summary: try the damn drink already!) 2) Great atmosphere for catching up with friends or studying. Very spacious inside and outside. I always see people either on their laptops or burying their noses into textbooks whenever I walk inside. However, that shouldn’t prevent you from coming here to chat it up with a friend. The café’s vibe is very calm and relaxing, and from what I’ve seen during all my visits, everyone is just absorbed in their own world. I’ve never been disturbed by an employee or customer here. Other: plenty of parking in the lot beside the café, great customer service, clean environment, unique-to-socal interior decorations. Although the dark choco mocha is a must, don’t hesitate to try the rest of their menu as well!

This place is simply amazing. I ordered several different paninis because I heard they were good. People were wrong they are not good… they are GREAT!!! I would recommend getting the prosciutto panini if it is your first time here. To make it ever better the owner is the coolest person in the world. Service is excellent here. Their wifi is super fast. Great place to study, eat, drink, and just simply hangout. Forget all the coffees shops in torrance/redondo beach. Neighborhood grinds is all you need.

Dopest coffee shop in the South Bay. Great coffee. Very kind and helpful staff. Ask for Phil’s special coldbrew, it’ll wreck your coffee world.

Tiny coffeeshop, feels mom and poppy(not so much your super branded hipster coffee joint). The coffee was unremarkable. The space feels naked, and it’s difficult to hang out with someone here for a quick coffee date. To boot, there was a crazy Christian lady guarding the door. Private lot parking makes it easy to get to Neighborhood Grinds. But I won’t be coming back for my caffeine fix.

A great place to get some work done. Very quiet inside. Chill music and ambiance. About 10 tables inside and 5 outside. I like going to coffee bean, but the 3pm high school kid rush is deadly. This is a nice change of pace. Their coffee is good. As are their smoothies. And I recommend the turkey/cranberry sandwich too. It took them forever to make it, but every ingredient tasted super fresh. They get a lot of their stuff from the market across the street and make multiple trips per day. The staff is not all fake-smiley like the chain coffee stores, but I appreciate their lack of BS. Just take my order, make me a good drink/sandwich and let me work in peace! All in all, fair prices, good quality and a good atmosphere to focus. *Update* Quiet place to get work done… unless a Tinder date couple walks in and the chick is louder than an intercom. Ugh.

Cute little spot in a strip mall, but they definitely need to have more people working behind the counter. One person to take orders and one person to make them just isn’t enough. We waited a good 15 to 20 minutes for a coffee, smoothie, and 2 bagel sandwiches. All in after tip we were nearing $ 30 for 2 people, so it really wasn’t very cheap either. The bagel was a bit small and I knew I’d be starving in a bit(which I was), but it was good. The smoothie was great. I didn’t know about the secret of texting your order before arriving, but I bet that just slows things down even further for the people waiting. Really nice, friendly staff and I like that it’s a neighborhood spot, but there wasn’t really anything special about it to me.

It’s probably a good coffee store in the neighborhood, but I didn’t like my coffee that much. I came in and ordered a latte. The guy behind the counter didn’t ask me what milk that I wanted, and I just totally forgot until he started to prepare it. That just totally ruined my mood already. And when I tried the latte, it was super super HOT!!! It almost burnt my tongue! Is it a latte or boiled milk? I can’t believe that a coffee shop can make such mistake. The drink just totally didn’t work for me at all. Consider I used their wifi for a while, I give it 3 stars.

The perfect latte! It is smooth, delicious and requires no sugar for me to enjoy. It’s always lovely with an artful design in the foam. It has none of that burnt taste that I dislike from Starbucks. The service here is fantastic. You can text your order prior to arriving. I asked for a tiny bit of milk for my son, so he would not covet my latte. They gave him a whole cup. I was shocked. Unfortunately, I poured almost all of it out… But I appreciate the thought. This is the perfect neighborhood spot.

Still good after 3 years of my first discovery. I have to warn you that it does take a while to get your coffee. Be patient, sometimes there are only two people working. It’s worth the wait. Neighborhood Grinds has invested in Redondo Beach and I thank them! Mocha is a must, you won’t be disappointed. So deliciously and perfectly sweet. You won’t get that at Starbucks! Ha!

Best little non-mainstream coffee shop/study spot in the area! I’ve never been here to study, but I definitely will be coming back during the school year. I searched for a juice shop after a bike ride in Hermosa and found the Brazilian place next door, but since it was closed I decided to come here instead. Best accidental discovery ever! The shop is clean and the drinks are good. It would be nice if there are more seats, but it wasn’t too crowded when I last went. * Iced Chai Tea Latte(5⁄5) So good! Probably the best I’ve had in a while. It was my boyfriend’s first time having chai tea(he is super picky with his food) but he loved it. * Strawberry Banana Smoothie(4⁄5) Apparently they were out of a lot of ingredients the last time I went, so the barista used real bananas instead of a powder. The smoothie ended up being pretty tasty. A little bit more sour than I had expected, but it was refreshing. In terms of drinks and cleanliness, this place is definitely better than Starbucks or Coffee Bean.

I’ve been coming to this place for a year now, I live down the street, and it was part of my routine(24 times to be exact). And unfortunately, this place is just getting worse and worse, so my time has come to find a better option. Even Starbucks is a better option. 1. Don’t waste your time with their ‘curbside’. Today I sat there for 20 minutes, getting ugly looks from people who needed to get their cars past me. And I didn’t get a single employee come out, say Hi, or bring a drink out to me while the sandwich was being made. And yet I saw people walk in, grab their drinks and leave, yet I’m still there waiting. 2. Don’t order a sandwich from them, unless you like eating bread with a side of meat. I ordered a Prosciutto sandwich with extra meat. What do I get? What you see posted on my profile. Ridiculous! And then it used to come with a side salad, so as they are packing it, they informed me of the change, instead of saying something to me prior, especially considering I’ve order this many times before. I originally gave them a great review, and thought it was a promising store, but this place has the worst customer service for a coffee shop I’ve ever been to. So take it from me, someone who has been here many times, there are better options for your money and this place just doesn’t have consistency. The sandwiches are barely packing any meat, and for the price you pay, it should be loaded!

Not sure what the hype is all about… maybe I didn’t get the latte that wow’d me or I had high expectations because everyone is raving about this coffee shop. Came here to have a chat with my friend and we ordered a latte and shared a cupcake. The drinks and the cupcake were decent. I think this place is a good place to get coffee if you live close by.
