The Lovejoy Foundation team truly treats their animals like children. They greatly care for each and every animal with love. The process of adopting a kitten was easy and thorough. I received explicit instructions to ensure that she was exposed to the best food and care. I bring Cali (Diva) back to clip her toe nails where she is recognized and adored. I highly recommend adopting a pet from this team.

A week after adopting Daisy, I noticed her litter mate had not been adopted. At the time I was adopting, a family was there discussing adopting him and filling out paper work. I grabbed my wife and said we’re going down there tomorrow morning and we’re getting him if he is there. My wife was uncertain even when I promised two puppies are easier to care for than one (some of you may disagree).
We went the next day. He was there. I marched right up to the young lady holding him and said, «I have his sister. I need him. May I please have him?» She looked at me and I guess she decided I was worthy because she handed him over. I handed him to my wife and 0.02 seconds later she said, «Fill out the papers.» She was instantly in love. Me too.
And, that is how we got our second puppy and my wife named him Barkley. The joy displayed by Daisy and Barkley when reunited at our home was probably one of the greatest thrills of my life (maybe I should get out more?). They are an inseparable dynamic duo of destruction! My wife and I just couldn’t imagine our lives without Daisy and Barkley.
Even better, our 4 year old minpin/​chi mix named Nacho, absolutely adores them. He’s never been much into playing with other dogs, but that changed with these two. They play all the time and he’s really blossomed as well. Even our cat, The Guy, gets in on the action and plays with the puppies. He’s so gentle and playful with them.
The remainder of our process with Lovejoy has been fantastic. We have had great follow through and communication via email. In fact, I’ve been back several times to Global Pet as they have now become my preferred food supplier. We can’t heap enough praise on Lovejoy. I hope the foundation carries on for many years to come and continues to unite people and pets.

Love joy foundation has the right name When you rescue a dog there. Erin and her crew adopts your whole family too. They taught me to introduce a new animal to my two older animals in neutral territory. it worked and we brought our teeny weeny chaweenie Pumpkin seed now renamed Rosie. The dogs totally love her now. She brought youth and joy to our dog family. Go visit Lovejoy foundation and come visit one the weekend in person. some friends got dogs there now.
And they help the feline family too the love the care the heart. It’s all there.

I went to this rescue today, was there exactly at 11 am with my dog to meet another dog to see if there is a match but the dog was not there yet and I was told since I have a dog I can’t walk inside and I followed that policy and waited outside, after 45 minutes the dogs arrived and a lady who just walked inside took the dog that I was waiting to see for 45 minutes under the sun and I was told I am next, i was shocked I came first but I am next, I think the lady Erin is very unprofessional she totally ignored me and I had to keep getting attention of other workers and then she said the dog I waited for was in someone else’s arms, nothing bothered me but her uncaring behavior, did not give shit that I waited 45 minutes to see this dog and she gave the priority to the other woman, I hope the dog gets a good home but this was worst rescue group ever

The Lovejoy Foundation is a incredible rescue. They give chances to those who wouldn’t have one anywhere else. I have seen dogs coming off the street into Erin’s hands to prevent them from going into the shelters and she and her crew love those dogs with all there hearts and bring up their confidence and heal their hearts so that they can find amazing forever homes. The Lovejoy Foundation though is not just for the dogs it is for all creatures big or small, the rescue takes all volunteers over 13 no questions asked (other than do you need something signed and are you going to come back you are a large help) and supports them to help them learn responsibility, and leadership. I love the Lovejoy Foundation!

Be careful of the Lovejoy foundation, I adopted a dog from them and was charged ALOT of money. I was told by Erin
That I could take my dog home and they would do a home check in 3 days. No home check and the dog was sick with kennel cough, not socialized or even housebroken. When I finally got an answer on email several months later, I at least managed to get them to do the spay/​neuter surgery, which was a bad experience, I met Erin in a parking lot
Where she had a van full of caged dogs, and she took my dog away for the day, when I got him back he was crying to go to the bathroom. I also never received any training that I was promised. I love my dog and have worked with him over the years, he is now happy, healthy and the joy of my life. It just seems a shame that I had to rescue my dog from the rescuer. I have also heard from several other people that had bad experiences with Lovejoy, but they can tell their own story if they wish, I just pray that my experience is not the norm, I can’t stand to see animals mistreated and sold and that’s basically what happened, I waited this long because I was afraid they’d take the dog back, because they did threaten that the day I adopted him. I am not telling anyone not to adopt a rescue, just do your homework first and stand up for your rights. As for me I fell in love with a little dog sitting in a cage in a parking lot, and he has been the joy & comfort of my life since.

When I started looking for a dog 2 years ago (still have not found one) I immediately choose to go to with a no kill rescue organization. I wanted to support people that were doing good in the world and keeping dogs off the streets and out of government run shelters, saving sick and abandoned dogs, giving them care, holding adoption events to find them homes, seems like a great thing to support.
but after my first experience with The Lovejoy Foundation I left sad, confused and worst of all without a dog. after meeting and falling in love with one of their dogs I was handed a form to fill out,
while still holding on to the dog I had two people that worked there standing over me asking questions rapid fire as I was trying to concentrate on the detailed questions on the form. I hate filling out forms so some of the questions I answered rather vague much to my detriment.
They then demanded to interview 3 people in my family and meet my mom’s dog who I had mentioned on the form. This was when the friendly smiles I was given initially turned to annoyed frowns, this took 5 hours then I left.
I did some research on dog organizations like this one when I got home and was appalled at what I found, story after story of people trying to adopt rescued dogs only to be turned away for a myriad of inane reasons from having a full time job to letting the dog sleep where it wants (don’t they do that anyway?) these people were then forced to buy from puppy mills or breeders instead of rescuing a needy dog.
Most famously Ellen Degeneres was brought to tears on air over the treatment she received from an over zealous rescue organization who took her dog back and never returned it.
I was still was teary eyed over the dog I met so against my better judgement I tried again next weekend. I showed up with a recommendation letter from my vet, pictures of the house and yard the dog would have and even filled out another adoption form with detailed answers and info. I was ignored, told to wait until the director showed up to talk to me.
The director started by telling me they never adopt to any one who lives as far away as I do (about 38 miles away), that they usually only adopt no further than south bay (4 miles away) seems like that would be a good thing to mention on their website which is «under-​construction» or on the other websites they have their dogs on (there is NO information available on adopting the dogs at all only volunteering info). she demanded to see the house in person and then explained that I know nothing about what a dog needs to have a good home (despite having dogs my whole life) and that she was the one with the ability to judge that. I left again confused, insulted and still with no dog.
I still plan on trying to adopt the dog from them one more time, if only to save that sweet animal from the the clutches of these zealots who would rather have a dog live it’s whole life in between foster homes and in a cage on the side of PCH on the weekends then go to a loving home.
I see now that most if not all rescue groups really just turn the suffering of animals into profit for themselves.
I will give a new dog a great home, unfortunately it may have to be one who would have no trouble finding a home instead of a dog that really needs one.

We adopted Pancho 6 weeks ago from the LoveJoy Foundation. We’re forever grateful for helping us find our little Panchito. We wanted a dog who was hypoallergenic and playful with our kids. They make sure it is a good fit. We had a chance to interact with the dogs and walk them. This is a great place if ur looking to adopt. The location is convenient and the staff is friendly.

Erin Lovejoy of the Lovejoy Foundation is a gift from heaven when it comes to knowing dogs and knowing people. She made a tragic situation a very happy new home for my beautiful dog. I am so grateful for her help, her knowledge, her shear knowingness. Within minutes of first meeting her my worries, nerves, emotions were calmed, and I could see my dog felt very safe. I knew I had made the right choice in asking for her help in finding a better, stable, loving home for this beautiful dog I was unable to care for because of life changing events. «Sam» your story doesn’t make sense — why was your dog left out clipped to a fence by himself where absolute strangers could get to him? And on a holiday weekend at that??? Sounds like IF the story isn’t a crock of shit (which it sounds like) then whoever took him was saving him from a negligent owner. Also if you «knew» these people who took him AND have a picture of them to «blow up and put on your business» why not go to the authorities? Why not start there? Why did it take you 8 months to find the dog? So many holes in the story — almost as many grammatical errors in the review too — seems someone doesn’t take extra time or care to make sure things are right. Scary. Might want to make sure that your story actually makes sense before trying to ruin someone’s livelihood. If the story had even an ounce of truth you would’ve had proof that the dog is yours. Bottom line is — she has the dogs best interest at heart, so if you didn’t get a call back from her chances are she didn’t see you a fit owner.
Lovejoy! Where do I start?! AWESOME, AMAZING, SELFLESS, WONDERFUL, DILIGENT, CARING, HONEST, PATIENT, KIND… those are just a few of the many words you could use to describe this organization. We have watched year after year as The Lovejoy Foundation has found homes for tons of animals. We personally know a handful of adoption «parents» and refer anyone looking for an animal to her. Stop by some weekend and take a look at the way she and her volunteers give their all to rehab the animals. We have cried tears of joy watching the dogs each begin to open up and release their fears with them. In all honesty I am very disappointed that there are not more glowing reviews for them — they really are angels and deserve to be recognized. I’ll continue to support and refer to this reputable organization. If you’re looking to adopt, or if you need some puppy love in your life give Erin a call — you won’t be sorry.

Not a big Unilocaler, however, this experience needs to be told. I HAD a Full Bread AKC Certified Pedigree German Shepherd who I received from a good friend of mine which happens to be a narcotics detective in OC. I say this because his patrol dog is the Sire (father) of the one given to me. Approximately 8 (EIGHT is an important #) months ago on the weekend of St. Patrick’s Day someone came to my business in the middle of the night, clipped the chain link fence and took him. I had an inclination who the individuals responsible were — unfortunately, he was not chipped. The persons in which who finally admitted taking him told me that they were scared because I had initially told them he was chipped and it was a matter of time until they found him. Back to the time frame of «8» months ago, this individual who admitted taking him panicked and ends up dropping him off in MANHATTAN BEACH, Approximately 6 mins from my business just 2 DAYS AFTER STEALING him. After reaching The Lovejoy Foundation and explaining the situation I agreed to stop what I was doing that day and drive to the Inglewood location they had him to see him — only to find him locked up in cage about 35 lbs under weight and a cut up nose — around no other dogs or people. When I questioned that — She told me it was because «he doesn’t get along with people especially other dogs» (which on the classified ad it said just the opposite), then back pedaling once I told her what the ad read. When I went to see him he was the Same friendly family dog I knew with the same black spot on the left side of his tongue (which she claimed that was a common trait on German shepherds so that doesn’t matter). She finally calls me back A WEEK AND A HALF LATER and says he couldn’t be mine because «he was actually picked up 11 months ago not 8» which she initially stated. After the visit and her not returning my calls or texts whether she believed he was mine or not — I let her know I would adopt him and pay All and any fees occurred. Long story short, after numerous attempts I have yet to hear back from her or her agency. I never new Pet Adoption agencies were like this. I was under the impression their goal was to find good homes and at least get them back to their Rightful owner! It’s obvious that these places, or at least this one, receives money based on the shelter having them in their possession. Maybe she’s not wanting to give him up knowing that he’s a licensed, full bread police dog that she can make money off of — or who just may want to keep for her own selfish cruel reasons. I will soon have a picture (blown up) of the individual who took him posted in front of my shop.

I’m so grateful to have found The Lovejoy Foundation!
In June, my boyfriend and I decided to adopt a puppy. I knew Zoom Room in Redondo Beach held adoptions on the weekend and it was hosted by The Lovejoy Foundation. They didn’t have puppies at this location but on the same day, they were also at Global Pet in Redondo Beach with more dogs and puppies for adoption.
The litter of puppies I was drawn to had the saddest story. The mom, Spirit, and her pups were rescued in Tijuana. They were found inside a trash can with the lid being weighed down by rocks. Who would in their right mind do such I thing!!! Out of the three puppies was one male and I was smitten from the start.
My boyfriend and I talked with Erin and went through the application and interview process right away. She wanted to make sure that we were able to handle taking care of an 8 week puppy because they need a lot of attention. Erin went through all the details included in the adoption fee (deflea, deworm, all vaccinations, microchip and neutering). Also we were given two private training sessions with their dog trainer, Jessica.
After a couple of days we took our puppy, Pinto, home with us. We had no problems with him until a couple weeks later. We noticed he was itching a lot. We notified Erin because she had mentioned to let her know if there’s any problems. We found out that his siblings were also having itch problems and found out it was mange. Erin provided medication for all three of them, no charge.
This was sort of a blessing in disguise because I was able to get in contact with the people who adopted Pinto’s siblings. So far we have had two playdates and will continue to have them.

Our experience with lovejoy foundation has been great. We adopted a puppy a month ago and we couldn’t be happier. Erin is a joy to work with-​she is always available to help us and answer our questions day and night.
We are first time dog owners, so Erin’s help is invaluable. She helped us get proper medication for a good price and made sure we had everything we need to raise a healthy puppy.
Overall, I would highly recommend Erin’s wonderful foundation!

I have volunteered at LoveJoy Foundation for over a year now and it has been one of the best experience I can ask for.
They are an amazing community. They would go out of their way to rescue dogs from high-​killed shelters. I notice that there are some dogs staying with them for years because no one wants to adopt them :(The foundation take care of the dogs and bring them back to life. They proactively reach out to people and find foster home for the dogs. It’s amazing how many lives they have touched!

I heard so any wonderful things about this foundation, but was very disappointed when I visited the pet adoption this weekend I was treated poorly, talked down to, reprimanded for rules that I was not told.
It seemed there were a lot of volunteers there (5) and that they were not new, but they seemed more interested in staying in the shade than helping the people that showed up for there event.
Example: I just got back from walking one of the dogs up for adoption, and was kneeling next to, with hand on collar, with leash still attacked, letting the dog cool down and drink some water. When this person said loudly not to water dog in this area, dogs must be water here. And moved the watering bowls away to another area. Dogs must stay at least 8 feet apart and must yield until they can pass with 8 feet.
I have no problem following rules, but please let me know them before publicly scolding me.
