−−16÷100 reviews for 2016– I believe I deserve the title of «The Shrimp Lover» because I really do believe I am. Haha but in other news, you MUST try this restaurant. They offer a good selection of seafood/Thai food/Cajun. For a beautiful view of the ocean this restaurant has to offer, you would think the food was very expensive! But little did you know, it’s the opposite! That’s what makes this place a hidden gem. Not too many people know about this restaurant because it is quiet hidden upstairs above the parking garage. Hehe. I love that it rarely gets crowded like it does at other seafood spots on the pier. The flavors are much like Boiling Crab. Their version of the«Whole Shabang» is quiet up there. Right now 1lb. Shrimp is $ 12.99 not too bad for a place that has a nice ocean view! The whole staff is very friendly and attentive. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in need of a seafood fix(without having to drive all the way out to Boiling Crab in LA, Rowland Heights, or the OC). – Next time I have to make space to try out some of their dessert items. They all look and sound delicious!

I came in here on a Sunday night around 6. They had a sign in sheet by the door. 20 minutes went by and NOBODY had came to check the sign in sheet… I was beginning to wonder if there was anyone working at all! So I went over to the dining area to look for someone and I acted dumb and asked«oh do I tell you how many or sign in over there?» She said«how many?» I told her«2» and she said«follow me.» …what the f***! There was a group of 6 that had been there before us and they looked as if they had been waiting a long time! So whatever, they take our order, brought our food, and NEVER came back to check on us… I wanted water, I wanted lemon, I wanted some of those claw pincher things. Ordered crawfish, got a few bad was with disgusting funky smell lol now my stomach hurts like hell lol I don’t recommend. HORRIBLE customer service and seafood not fresh.

It’s like boiling crab without the two hour wait. I was pretty surprised how good the shrimp boil is. It’s close to home. Very nice people who work there.

My friends and I came here for a birthday dinner & we ordered a many different types of dishes/appetizers. When they brought my wings i was so excited to take a bite that i couldn’t wait so thats what i did, but after my first bite i spotted a piece of hair ! It was definitely not mines. It was long & super curly! My hair is no where near curly. So i called the waiter over & told her about the situation & she ask me to placed it ON her hand… LITERALLY. um ok? she looked at it & said«ill replace it for you, im sorry.» As she left back to the kitchen, she went over to the manager to say something about our table & since then they’ve been giving us weird looks. 5 minutes later the«one piece» of chicken came back to our table. Then guess what happened? ITWASTHESAMEFUCKINPIECEOFCHICKENTHAT I BITEARLIER. After that they’ve been checking up on us like every chance they get, trying to give us A1 service because they knew what they did was wrong. So overall we only tipped her $ 3& she had the audacity to come after us to ask if there was something wrong with the service? Then thats when i told her to be smart next time & check the piece of chicken if it was bitten or not before you try to refry the same one and give it back to a customer. THEWORSTEXPERIENCEEVER!

Since it’s cold outside this place is amazing you are able to get seafood and enjoy it at a warm place with a nice view of the pier.

No wait. Ocean view. Not too crowded. And mmm, that medley sauce is garlicky divine. The price is a dollar or two pricier than Boiling Crab but it’s like you’re paying more for the ocean view and peace of mind. I like that you can order garlic bread because I love dunking their garlic bread into the medley sauce. I always get their 1 lb of shrimp with medley sauce! They use andouille sausage that has a little kick. The fried catfish has a pretty good batter and comes in a basket with fries. Interestingly, they also have Thai food on the menu — pad thai, pad see ew, all that! I can’t say if it’s good or not. I simply cannot get myself to order anything else besides the shrimp. However, on the menu, it states that they charge a dollar extra for the Thai entrees after dinner. Why? I do not know. There’s also gratuity included in the bill if you dine with a group of 6+. I liked that they were able to split our bill onto three credit cards! Saves us the headache! All in all, I give this place two thumbs up. So many pros, so very little cons!

Amazing flavor and options here. Very nice staff and the food is really fresh! The menu has so much to offer between Thai and Creole and the mix of the two was amazing. I will be back no doubt!

The Shrimp Lover participated in this year’s Taste of the Pier event so we stopped in to try. We walked in and the first thing we were asked was if we’re there for the Taste of the Pier. We replied yes and immediately got a disgusted look from a woman who seemed to be a server there. Along with that, another gentlemen asked her if we were there for Taste of the Pier and he had the disgusted look after he found out too! Not sure what the problem was. We weren’t there to beg or ask for a freebie. The tickets used to redeem tastings were paid for. So I don’t get it. Just FYI, the shrimp, clam and mussels were all over cooked! It was chewy and shrimp was mushy! This place left us on a sour note. I will NEVER be back.

I was hesitant to try this place because they had a «B» stamp on their window. I take risks from time to time. Risk versus reward. My favorite author says, Be brave. Take risks. Nothing can substitute experience. Damn right. I can write all about it, you can read all about it, but you have to try it to witness the power of this amazing food. Bucket of shrimp is better than boiling crab. And their 2 lb lobsters are a joy to devour.

I was very surprised with The Shrimp Lover! A pleasant surprise! Located on the Redondo Beach right above the parking lot. In the evening, this business seems like the only business open on the 2nd floor. Windows line the front of The Shrimp Lover. Breath-taking views of Redondo Beach can be seen. The sun was just about to set. It was beautiful. We ordered shrimp and crab legs in cajun sauce(several different sauces you can choose from), garlic bread and a fried seafood platter. Everything came out relatively fast. Shrimp and crab legs came out in plastic bags that were still tied up. Once you open the bags, the lovely aroma of cajun seasoning hits you. The sauce is magical! Pair this with garlic bread, that’s it. Visit the The Shrimp Lover when you’re in Redondo Beach. You won’t be disappointed.

Don’t want to wait three hours for a table at The Boiling Crab or a similar knockoff? Go here. I swear, their«medley» sauce is exactly the same as the«whole shebang» sauce at TBC. I ordered a pound of shrimp, with a corn cob, sausage, and potatoes in the Medley sauce, mild spice. Even the mild spice had a good amount of heat in it. This was the perfect amount of food, if not a little too much. I used a mountain of paper towels and my plastic bib was soaked with splashes of the sauce. The table next to us ordered crabs and they looked incredible. My boyfriend isn’t into the work that comes along with peeling seafood, so he got a variety of fried seafood with Cajun fries. OMGTHECAJUNFRIES. The seasoning is the same as the kind you will find on BBQ potato chips. Bomb. Anyway, for two full meals and four beers, we spent about $ 50. I would recommend this place because similar restaurants usually have an insane wait time. Only complaint is that it was really hot in there! To be fair, today was incredibly hot out, but at least crank those two window unit air conditioners all the way! We will return on a cooler day, and I will try the crab! They are located on the Redondo Pier, near the parking lot by Kincaids, at the end of Torrance Blvd.

Right on the pier and the interior is nothing spectacular. We were a large group of 11 with children. They have 1 option on the«kids menu». Chicken nuggets with mozzarella sticks and fries. Well, ok. The kids seemed happy but some other options would have been nice. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant so we had no view. The menu had a lot of Thai influences. I ordered the fried Pompano. OMG. Amazing. That’s all I can say. It was SOOOO good. Our table ordered crab, shrimp, blue crab, with a variety of sauces in those bucket bag things. Everyone was very happy with their food. Mine took a lot longer than I would have liked but again, it was all very good. My husband had the spare ribs with thai fried rice and got horrible indigestion after, so I knocked a star off for that. He just didn’t enjoy it at all(should have had seafood like the rest of us)!! Our server was attentive and they did add the gratuity to our bill since we had a large group.

Their shrimp I think is good especially if I want shrimp boil and want my craving satisfied now. Now this base is sweeter than complaring it to boiling crab, claws… And I’m ok with sweet heat. Prices are similar and diff types of seafood. What I like also is they have Thai food also. another favorite if mine. Satisfy both cravings! My tummy is so happy. They have beer and great for large parties. Parking can suck if it’s busy times since they are located at the Redondo pier.

I remember going to the Hollywood location when it was still called Boiling Shrimp. That was my first experience with this chain, and it was a pleasant one. This place is Thai influenced, so you’ll find a lot of Thai dishes along with the standard menu items you’d find at say, the Boiling Crab. This location is not exception, the food here is good and you have a view of the Redondo Beach Pier. If you want to have a similar experience to Boiling Crab in Torrance, I recommend this place as a substitute. It will save you the hassle of waiting in line to eat a place that serves nearly the same food. I’ve been here a handful of times with parties bigger than 5 and we’ve never had to wait on seating. I usually order 1lb shrimp bag with a mix of all the spices(melody, I think) without the Indian spices. The bag of the hot link sausages are good too, but make sure to tell them to throw in a few more potatoes, it’s really worth a few extra to fill up on.

VERDICT: Without having to leave the South Bay for the Boiling Crab like fix. Tasty flavor alternative too! QUALIFIER: Parking gets hectic weekend afternoons FOOD: By far, the best is shrimp. Bucket of clams is also good. Serve the sauce over a order if white rice, and then you’ll be in garlic heaven! The fried rice plate taste just like the sauce over rice except you get other meats and greens. The bucket of beer is a good deal. SERVICE: Always attentive servers, automatic gratuity in larger parties. The owner is actually in the kitchen, at least I think that was the guy in the apron doing an interview with a potential waitress

Same concept as boiling crab, craw daddy, kickin crab, rays crabshack etc but its right by hermosa beach you could have a window seating and get an ocean view. but unfortunately we didn’t get that. 1lb portion just seemed small compared to all the shrimp eating places I’ve been to. Cajun fried were thick cut but didn’t taste like the cajun fries I’m use to. Not sure if theres a difference from them here and the bay area. Its cool that you can buy a bundle of beer in a bucket($ 15) My visit was ok, I dont like having to keep asking for things because they skimp you out and give you 3 sliced lemons when theres 4 people eating. Atmospere is fun, don’t remember if there was music playing? I guess if you’re from this area I would recommend. But i give it an ok

The Shrimp Lover is located on the upper level of the Redondo Beach parking structure. It has a Thai atmosphere. I would give this 5 stars if it furnished disposable gloves as Hot & Juicy. I am impressed that the lobster came pre-cut, which made it easy to eat. We ordered the spicy level. I liked the flavor.

I really enjoyed this place. It’s on the pier with a nice ocean view. Its a «seafood in a bag» restaurant without the ghetto, ratchet crowds that The Boiling Crab and Hot & Juicy tend to attract. They also offer some Thai entrees, which I have yet to try and probably won’t. Nothing against them serving Thai food as well, but I come here for the seafood(King Crab legs in particular). Good food, good service and no crowds. Thumbs up. I’m gonna be here as often as I can afford it. Seafood is expensive!

So glad that Shrimp Lover is in the South Bay! This is where I go when I’m too lazy to drive to boiling crab. Honestly, I am a creature of habit so I always get the same thing: fried calamari and 1 lb of shrimp. The fried calamari is BOMB! So good. It comes in a small basket; half calamari, half seasoned fries. I wish we can get all calamari… But no. The shrimp. I get it with a medium spice and garlic butter. Add potatoes and corn, and you’re good to go. Instead of garlic butter, I used to get everything(equivalent to «the whole shabang») but it wasn’t that great. Not much flavor. After I converted to garlic butter, my life is complete! Service is friendly; they don’t check up on you often but they refill your water and give you what you ask for. That’s all I need. Parking is easy, if you don’t mind paying a dollar or two. There’s a structure for the redondo beach pier. Very convenient. In my opinion, everything is yummy. But I think it can be a little overpriced. It’s not overwhelmingly expensive, but a little more than what other places offer. I can’t decide if the shrimp lover is better than BC or not… But I don’t miss BC, so I think that says something.

This is my favorite«seafood in a bag» place. Great views of the pier, good food, never have to wait long, nice big eating area. And you can go walk around afterwards if you haven’t seen enough seafood. Recommend getting the medley of flavors, the seasonings run spicy, so I usually just get mild. I’ve tried the shrimp, king crab and mussels, love it all! My sister had the Pad See Ew, which was a rookie mistake. Don’t get the thai food. Just stick to fried seafood or fried potatoes or seafood in the bags. OK other than the fact that they serve good food at a good location, here are other reasons why I like this place. 1. They show their prices on a big board in the front. I like that, I hate when people get sketchy about their prices. 2. The waitress repeated the order back to us. A little time consuming but the order was perfect. 3. She taught us how to use the paper towels so we don’t get a paper towel and seafood bag disaster. 4. The hilarious phrases around the restaurant: for example they say Soda(Refill) and Thai Iced Tea(Unrefill). Also«please do not throw things at the toilet». Please visit and explore to find all other funny phrases. My only negative is that at Boiling Crab they give free corn and potato, which this place doesn’t. Also where were the wet wipes? Oh well, I’ll still come here.
