If you cannot visit Louisiana, the Ragin Cajun in Redondo Beach is the next best thing. Since 1974, this family-run restaurant has offered Cajun food to Houston locals including Boudin(sausage), Po-boys(sandwiches), gumbo, catfish, bread pudding and boiled crawfish. The atmosphere at the Ragin Cajun is casual as diners share long tables covered with red and white calico tablecloths. Buckets of boiled crawfish line the tables as diners come in to peel them and enjoy it their corn and potatoes. Tables are lined with bottles of Tabasco sauce and there is even a spice cabinet in the corner for diners wanting extra seasoning. Zydeco music(which is Louisiana Creole music performed on an accordion) plays in the background and it almost feels like a bar on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. You almost forget you’re not in Louisiana. Expect to pay roughly $ 7 to $ 9 for a Po-boy while boiled crawfish will be based on the market price. Other menu options are in the $ 10 to $ 15 range. It’s hard to find good Cajun food outside Louisiana, but luckily, Redondo Beach has a decent option. It’s definitely worth the visit if you’re from Louisiana and missing some good olé Cajun food.

Great place. Super clean inside and out. Food is outstanding. Just like mama would make if she were a Cajun. Prices are reasonable. Atmosphere is really good. Great location, close to the pier and not far from Hermosa Beach.

This is down home cooking & you can order spicy. Homemade Cajun recipes from Lafayette, Louisiana. My husband & I ordered the red beans & rice with grilled catfish, seasoned veggies & Cajun kool aid. Wonderful service! Check them out for Super Bowl Sunday but get there early! Theresa & Larry

If I could pick my favorite thing about my last visit, it’s gumbolaya! It is fantastic! I enjoyed coming here with friends, the service was great and not to mention their music choice was spot on. I will definitely be coming back here.

Very disappointed… Second time here and there service was super slow and we couldn’t order our happy hour in time even though it wasn’t not our fault. I even talked to management regarding my issue they seem to not help makes me not enjoy the beginning of the experience here. I am a huge Unilocaler and have a problem with this. It’s my family first time here and set the tone off bad. Toss up if I will come back. Please know make sure you order on time your«happy hour» we were putting in order at 5:57 really ???

Do you remember the Ragin Cajun restaurant in Hermosa Beach? Well it is in Redondo Beach now and it is better than ever. Everything here is wonderful. The menu has something for everyone. I love the pork chops. My husband loves the combo plate called Gumbolaya with jambalaya, red beans, rice, and crawfish. The variety of food is excellent and is very authentic. They have a full bar which is something the Hermosa site did not have. Their drinks are great. They have two Happy Hours, one from 3 to 6 Monday through Friday. They even have a late night one from 9 to close, Sunday through Thursday. Service here is excellent. When you leave the restaurant, you feel like your server is your friend because they are so attentive. Corey was our last server and he will take good care of you. Try Ragin Cajun, it will not disappoint.

This is our first time at the Ragin Cajun, really like the southern style décor and atmosphere. Sampled the pumpkin ale and started with the fried okra… good stuff! Spacious enough for large groups and quaint enough for couples. Full bar a pus!!! Nice welcoming and good service immediately as we entered! Ally is a great waitress, sit in her area!

So a most wonderful, handsome and sexy waiter Corey mentioned for a Unilocal reviewer we could get free beignets… so of course I’m in! But don’t think that will sway my opinion… here’s my honest review! We came tonight because my roommate is obsessed with Cajun food! This place has been open a few months but I have yet to try it. So glad we came! We shared the Cajun Fried Chicken, Cajun combo including Gumbolaya(Jambalaya with Gumbo poured on top… yes), Bayou Bisque(chicken/sausage corn bisque) and & Red Beans/Rice & peal/eat shrimp. Bayou Bisque was by far the best dish. Fried chicken was tender and delicious. Shrimp was also yummy. Bacon cheese corn bread was a bit disappointing. Overall the food was good. My roommate who lived in NOLA thought it was pretty on par. She’s been looking for good Cajun since moving to LA… she’s found it! Now the beignet… it was only ok, but we compared it to Café Du Monde. Really you can’t duplicate that so for LA it’s fine. I’m ready to come back to try a Poor Boy and get more Bisque! And of course for the stellar service from Corey!

Wow is all I can say. This place is incredible. They have a custom Bloody Mary bar on Sunday’s for a price you cannot beat. They also have crab eggs Benedict… UHHHHSOLD! Their prices are so reasonable, especially because their seafood is so fresh and prepared so well. They also give you free samples of their soup if you need it with no hesitation. They sold me on their soup so I ate all of my friends. They gave me sooooo much food I couldn’t finish it. The service was great, the waiter kept our waters full and checked on us every 10 – 15 minutes. The restaurant is also really cute and reminds me of New Orleans. They also have a cute private parking lot you can park in! I will be back :)

A group of 6 of us decided last minute to try this place an hour before their closing time. We entered and were greeted and seated promptly. The interior is spacious and vivid. I love restaurants that put in effort into their décor. Shelby, our waitress, was very friendly and checked up on us frequently. My group came to this place with the intention of trying alligator for the first time and we did. We ordered the fried alligator appetizer and it was delicious. It has a fishy taste to it with a very slight texture of chicken. It’s a must try if you go! Food wise you cannot go wrong with anything that you order. I’d never tried Cajun food before and I loved it. Now to the best part! My group loves a good drink and this place has plenty of options. And of course we went for something called the Blue Voodoo which is huge and meant for 4+ people. They give you separate mason jars and you pour yourself the amazing concoction from a glass skull. The staff was so amazed because apparently we were the first people to ever order this and they took pictures of us with the drink. It was funny. We stayed until we finished the Blue Voodoo which was after closing time and after most of the staff had left. We weren’t rushed or told that we had to leave by a certain time. Thank you Shelby and everyone else who attended us! We will definitely be visiting again soon.

Kris had noticed Rajun Cajun in his neighborhood and we decided to give it a try. He knows that Cajun food has been«my thing» lately– I have no idea where it really came from but I’ve been adoring all things Cajun. We came on a Tuesday and were promptly greeted by the(really nice!) hostess. We had mentioned that it was our first time and she had given us several recommendations on what to try. She also let us know about their happy hour menu($ 5 moonshine drinks). Service was fast, efficient and friendly throughout by both her and our main server. For our meal we split an order of fried pickles. Kris ordered the salmon meal and I had the chicken and sausage gumbo. We were also served a side of fresh bread, which I mixed with the 3 hot sauces on the table(the garlic being my favorite!) The fried pickles were delicious, and some of the thickest fried pickles that we both had ever had. Kris salmon was also delicious — he practically licked the plate clean and he loved the perfectly seasoned vegetables that came with it. My gumbo was also delicious and extremely filling– it wasn’t too spicy and I was able to customize my spice levels with the aforementioned hot sauces. So why the three stars? Well, that Tuesday was kind of a celebration and we decided to order some drinks to go with our happy attitude. We ordered a blue voodoo($ 13), as well as several of the $ 5 drink specials. The amount we spent on alcohol superseded the amount we spent on food. Besides one, all of the drinks were rather lackluster. They were too syrupy, too sweet, and didn’t really taste like much alcohol was present in them(case in point the blue voodoo was overly coconut syrupy and didn’t have a «kick to it). Although we were happy with our meal, we were disappointed in our drink selection. Would we be back? Judging by the way my boy licked his plate clean I think it’s pretty safe to say we would be– however next time I’ll be sticking to the Cajun kool aid…
