I’ve had their pumpkin spice and banana nut cupcakes and I couldn’t believe how tasty and moist such a cute little cupcake can be. It tickled me the second I grabbed for one. First off, it felt almost… chubby, hahaha, with moisture. It’s packed with flavor. Real flavor. None of the artificial box mix some cupcake places whip up and top with something cute. Nope. You order banana nut cupcakes, you’re gonna get, bananas and nuts in the cupcakes. To top it off, the frosting. That creamy, oh so creamy frosting. Oh man. I’m actually not a fan of frosting, at all. But what won me over is the fact that the frosting is creamy and stays creamy. I’m no baker, but something that’s always bugged me about cupcakes from larger chains, is that the frosting tends to get crusty? You know what I mean? Like, sugary crust. Ya, I love how the frosting was creamy, creamy. You can tell they take pride in what they bake. From the quality of each cupcake to the packaging. Also, love the simplicity of the brown box, twine and logo. Nothing flashy. But, a box full of cupcakes that taste, real. And, I just saw their bourbon toffee and piña colada cupcakes on their fb page. Omg… I’m in trouble.

I had two different deliveries of Swirl Cupcakes to my office recently. I was so happy to hear that they were willing to deliver and to come at a specific time so we could surprise a colleague. Everyone loved the little cupcakes. We probably should have ordered twice as many! We ordered Red Velvet. I honestly didn’t even consider any other flavors since that one is my favorite. I didn’t even think to ask my co-workers which flavor they would like… Swirl Cakery was handing out samples in front of my office this week and I had a bourbon toffee cupcake. I like bourbon and I like toffee, so it made perfect sense that the bourbon toffee cupcakes would be a favorite of mine too. Yes, it was really good, but I still like red velvet the best. Once I find something I’m in love with, I tend to stick with it. It’s nice that they’re the mini sized cupcakes… kind of a one-bite-wonder. I love that they’re a cupcake start-up. In a community of high tech start-ups, it’s good to remember that start-ups aren’t always technology.
