This place was great. On Saturdays, they have live music and my band played here over the summer. The drinks were average prices for the beach, I suppose, and the staff was friendly. The crowd was awesome and really in to every band, and they threw down money for merch, too. Over all, this is a decent venue with a decent bar. I had fun and would go back again to see a band if I’m down there, and I’d definitely play there again, as well. Oh, and the owner plays in a band himself, so he’s a musician, which makes it easier to work with.

This summer was a lot of fun there, it’s the only place to dance in Rehoboth and the dance floor is pretty big, cool lasers too. Drink prices are lower than the other two big gay bars in town, so that’s a plus. Some people are put off by the $ 5 cover on Saturday night, but it’s 2015! five bucks isn’t much, it’s about what you’d spend on the parking meters downtown. so I recommend The Double L

It really smelled and was sort of creepy, but the drinks were strong and the other 6 guests seemed harmless!

We usually don’t go here, and I don’t have a reason. But let’s set the stage. Saturday night and a veritable monsoon had descended on Rehoboth Beach. Frustrated vacationers had been fleeing in their Astrovans all day, pale and glum. We had been to a delightful dinner at Summerhouse, and filled with good food and glee(well, strawberry margaritas) we decided to walk over to the Mandance. Now, I am a proper southern gay gentleman of a certain age. This means absolutely nothing. In practical terms, I looked at the rain and realized my Andrew Christians would be soaking wet. On my 5’6″ 145 lb frame that could work to my advantage. But I decided to strip off my shirt and stroll through the rain like Shirley Jones in Easter Parade. I was barely wet when we walked through the door. Based on the looks, whether it was approval or amusement — the shirts stayed off. It was a lighter and slightly damper crowd, and the astonishingly fine jock-clad bartenders served up vodka cranberry to me. Medicinal, of course. Seriously stout fellows in Underarmour shirts jostled past muscle daddies in leather. Husbear was delighted. We ran into a group of men staying at the same B&B. A crowd of young women appeared. This is a phenom I find peculiar. They tell us they enjoy the gay bars because they won’t get groped or hit on. As soon as they’ve knocked back a few — they start groping and hitting on the very men who are most decidedly not interested. Please, god — let this trashy trend of bachelorette parties at gay bars end. We passed the drunken divas, headed to the dance floor and one of the boys I had seen at the B&B was trying to rowdy up the dance floor. He wasn’t bad at all. Soon, two of the hired dancers took over and the floor filled and stayed quit full. Another vodka cranberry and I was enjoying ogling a muscle man about two feet taller than me in leather chaps and nothing else. The deck was incredibly wet and cold, but the boys were all friendly and chatty — the opposite of weather. It was a fun time. As we walked back to our B&B, several of the people waved as they drove off. We commented that unlike DC, it can be much easier to just relax here and dance.

I know that they are trying to upgrade their image and their demographic with the«Man Dances»…I heard that they have done some renovations on the inside… lets hope that it includes a better ventalation system and updated plumbing, because the last time I was there(Sept), it smelled like b.o., poppers, ass and sewage outside and inside the bar. Really Really Gross. When I began to dry heave, I decided it was time to go. But… I have always had a soft spot for this place because it is the most unpretentious gay bar at the beach… I will try again and update my review sometime this summer.
