Our bachelorette party group of 12 tried to get into Whiskey beach’s sister restaurant, Nalu, but our wait was 3 hours. Whiskey beach was around the corner and they sat us right away! Our waitress was incredibly helpful and friendly, considering how large of a group she was serving. Our group started with sangria pitchers, two red and one white. The white was tart and not as sweet as the red. Both were refreshing and more than satisfied our large group. We didn’t have any appetizers and placed our food order within the first 20 minutes. 30 minutes after that, the waitress informed us that there was a glitch in their computer system. Our food orders never made it to the kitchen so she had to place them manually. In total, we waited for a little over an hour for our food. Our waitress did bring us free cornbread to hold us over. The food itself was basic but flavorful. Unfortunately, very over priced but that’s a common theme with beach town restaurants. They had a decent variety and everyone in our party was happy with their choice. Due to the delay, the kitchen staff was rushed so we had to send a few incorrect dishes back to the kitchen. This was my experience: I got a blackened tilapia wrap in the gluten free wrap that they offered with a side of potato wedges. When one of the food runners brought out my dish, I double checked to make sure the wrap was gluten free and she said«I’m almost positive but let me check» Sure enough, it was not correct. The kitchen was too rushed to notice and they had to make my meal again. The manager brought my corrected meal out and said that the potato wedges on my plate were not gluten free because they coat them in flour! She did offer to bring my corn chips and salsa(I accepted & they were tasty) but what an oversight by the kitchen. If a gluten free meal is placed, a side item with gluten should be automatically excluded. At the end of the meal, the manager came around to our table to apologize again for the delay and let us know we were getting a discount on our meal. Let me preface this by adding that our 3 pitchers of sangria were $ 90 total. That’s a very steep price for sangria. I was pleased to hear we were getting a discount only to find out that we got 10% off. Most of our party saved a dollar and change. Considering the size of our group, the money we spent on drinks, the long wait and the incorrect orders, our experience and their attempt to make it right was overall, a disappointment. This place has potential because the food is decent and our waitress was really great, I hope they get their glitch fixed and make better amends with disgruntled customers.

I never review, only use the app to find restaurants. But since our meal on Friday was so spectacularly bad, I felt compelled. Party of 7 and not one meal was finished due to the food being almost inedible. Chowder was composed of a solid glob of indeterminable pieces of chewy things… That vague. Steamed Clams may or may not have given me mild food poisoning. They even messed up a pulled pork sandwich. That’s impressive. There are better options. If unsure, just order a pizza and save yourself the money.

The food eh. The service however was excellent! We came here because Nalu was wayyy too crowded. We figured we would give a shot and we weren’t the only ones who thought this. Several tables sat down at the same time with only one waitress. This would normally be an issue, but our waitress was very upfront saying that several groups just sat down and that she is going to be as attentive as possible, but feel free to flag her down. It was so nice! We ordered our first round of drinks and food and while we waited she brought out the most delicious cornbread muffins with a cinnamon sugar butter. HOLYMOLY. Those were fantastic. We all felt like we were eating cupcakes… My sweet tooth was in heaven! Since quite a few orders of food were placed at the same time our waitress made sure to refill our cornbread and our drinks while we were waiting. I was impressed at the level of attentiveness. When it came to main courses I had the mahi grilled sandwich and fries. Honestly nothing special. The mahi was a tiny portion compared to the bread(the bread was very croissant like, which was tasty). I also didn’t get many fries. The whole plate just seemed lacking, which was sad and I ended up eating some of my friends left over fish and chips(which was an overwhelmingly large portion). I think the first line of my review basically says it all. I would probably come back now that I have a better understanding of the menu. ALSOTIP: They have shuffle board! Great activity after a few drinks and to stir up some friendly competition!

Awesome food and great service. I had the salmon with collards and Mac n cheese. The salmon and Mac n cheese were great but collards just ok. The table also shared the nachos with pulled pork which was amazeballs. Only complaint is their food lacked originality from nalu next door. Both have great food and service but are clearly same kitchen and lack originality.

Ate here tonight with a party of 8. Amazing service and great food. Must try the brisket nachos!!! It’s a little off the beaten path but well worth the walk! Also try the 2 foot long ultimate burrito

Not so good… Had the clam strips that had obviously come out of the freezer. Tasteless and rubber. Pulled pork sandwich was much the same as the clam strips. Won’t be back!

Worst meal ever in Dewey and we have been coming to town for almost 30 years. Bring back Ponos!

I came here on a recommendation from a family member. She frequently travels to Dewey Beach, owning a condo in town. I made sure to stop by between 4pm and 6pm during the happy hour. Half-off the raw bar, cannot complain about that! I came alone, ordered a wedge salad and crab legs. There was nothing to complain about. The restaurant was not busy, I was able to get a table all to myself! Normally, while dining solo, staff tries their best to push me into sitting at the bar. The wedge salad was alright. I have had better and worse. The crab legs were great. It came with no sides, you could pay extra to get sides. I did not order drinks. I was a pretty boring diner for that night. The staff was very friendly. They seemed a little boring with the lack of business in the late afternoon. I will have to come back to Whisky Beach BBQ and try more of their menu. The amount of low star reviews was a little harsh when you compare the amount of reviews to the neighboring restraunts.

We came here during a recent vacation because we found it on the«Best of Delaware» 2014 award-winners list. There wasn’t a wait and the AC was in full effect. The food was great. We started with the bruschetta, and followed up with two entrees. 1. Pulled Pork Shoulder Plate with side salad and Mac & Cheese: Great serving size. The mac & cheese was actually bigger than the pulled pork. The mac & cheese is good, not great. The pulled pork was luke warm, if not cold, but in comparison to the piping hot mac & cheese, everything seemed cold. 2. Brisket Burrito with chips & salsa: The salsa is worth mentioning; sooo good! The burrito is very small. VERY small. And for a hungry guy, it wasn’t enough. It was good nonetheless. You’ve been warned. We tried the 100oz margarita tower since we got there at the tail end of happy hour. NOTWORTHIT. IT’s not expensive, sure, but it was 90% sour mix. It was rough at the end, and the two of us couldn’t get through it, no matter how diluted it got.

Everywhere else in Dewey Beach was too crowded, so we ended up at this off-shoot of Nalu, next door. It’s a fine place to go when everywhere else is too crowded, but definitely not a destination of anyone. Staff was overwhelmed with our party of 10 — we sat down and ordered 2 giant margaritas, a bunch of oyster shooters, and waters for the table, and our waitress(maybe reasonably so) had a heck of a time catching up. The margaritas come in 100 oz «Towers,» so that was lots of fun. Getting a refill of water in my tiny, plastic cup seemed laughably difficult. Food wasn’t awful, but overall pretty below-par. I got the brisket plate, which came with a small amount of meat that was bland and low-quality. The BBQ pork plates looked unappetizing as well, though the chicken received higher marks. The food is pretty cheap(brisket plate was $ 13 and comes with 2 sides — and the sides are pretty good), so I guess you get what you pay for. Considered going with 3 stars, since 2 feels a bit harsh to me… but«Meh, I’ve experienced better» is too good of an encapsulation of Whiskey Beach BBQ. Tie-breaker could’ve been the atmosphere, which erases any memory that you’re at the beach.

I just ate here over this past weekend. The servers were incredibly nice, and were attentive to all our needs. I had the burger and it was cooked perfectly. The selection of different BBQ sauces are excellent. Everyone at our table had a great experience and loved their food. This was my fourth experience eating here, and I will be going back next weekend for Labor Day.

Horrible service. Food took forever to come out and was not correct when it did. Waitress had an awful attitude and was very rude. Food wasn’t all that impressive either. We’ll never be going back and hope that it closes soon so something better can open in its place.
