Excellent! Sweet atmosphere, great service, friendly people and the food is out of this world DELICIOUS! One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time(and I eat well). If I lived here, I’d be a regular. Fantastic!

I was impressed with this charming little place. All of the entrees on the menu sounded delicious. I decided to go with the Porcini Dusted & Seared Sea Scallops and it. They had a great wine selection. I probably had one too many. Thank you for the great service!

This place is delicious. We had a reservation at 6 pm and it was a perfect time to come in. We had my toddler with us so we wanted to make sure to be respectful to other diners. She’s well behaved but a toddler and gets impatient. They were very respectful and super professional. They brought the all the drinks and dishes out in a timely manner. We weren’t waiting too long for anything. ALL of the food they brought out was amazing. So delicious. I mean eat it for every meal of the day amazing. I’d gladly go back. Maybe with a babysitter next time lol.

I am sure the food is wonderful at this establishment, unfortunately we did not get the chance to enjoy it. I had just flown in to town for my mother’s birthday, I had previously made reservations and checked the website. We were pleased to see that the restaurant was dog friendly, as my mother has a small 6lb dog. When we arrived, we were greeted by a women who seemed to be the manager or host. She said«Whats with the Dog?» thats all. I understand a pet policy in a restaurant and would be happy to make alternative arrangements for our pet but I do not like being treated badly. There are ways to express policy without being rude. Instead of a $ 600++ dinner here we opted to head home to Incline. Thanks but no thanks!

4th Street Bistro is our go to for special occasions. We had a late Valentine’s Day celebration, and 4th Street did not disappoint! The duck was fantastic, the wine pairing was perfect, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Check out this little gem!

Came to Reno for a weekend getaway for my 21st birthday and my boyfriends 22nd birthday in 2014. His birthday is the day after mine. We went all out on my birthday as it was our first night there. For his birthday we wanted to take it easy and find a restaurant that wasn’t on the strip or part of the hotels. We were steered here and were told it was THE place to go! We were told to dress very nice and bring a lot for a tip. We were both really nervous, as we are not usually ones to go places like that. But it was his birthday so we said why not? We drove a few miles down the road here and was shocked to see it was a home as a restaurant! It’s a medium sized white home with tons of parking and easy to get in and out of, though it’s on a hill. It was dinner time so it was dark out already. There were white Christmas lights all around the windows and walk way and tons of vines and trees, it was breath taking! We went inside with our hearts racing and were taken completely away again! The eating area is gorgeous! Elegant tables for 2 and up to 6 were spread out, the lighting was dim but still enough to see. There was beautiful wood flooring and white curtains with tons of photo décor on the walls. This place is extraordinary! When we were seated, we received our menus and had no clue what we wanted to eat or drink! We had a lovely waitress, who we believe owned the restaurant, and she helped us figure out what alcoholic beverage and meal was best for us. I got a decadent white cheese pasta with tons of elegant fixings. My boyfriend got the filet mignon dinner with homemade potatoes Au Gratin. It was about $ 34 for my plate and $ 40ish for his. We were really not sure what to expect because we have never in our lives spent that much on dinner before! When our food arrived to our table and we took our first bite… Life changing moment. 1,000%. I have never consumed such a delicious meal before and have yet to since! Probably the greatest experience I have had in all of my trips to Reno. If you can get past the prices, come here at least once! My birthday is coming up and I’m hoping to be back finally!

You find yourself set in a cozy and somewhat dim environment that can easily make one feel that they’re on vacation having an excellent meal while overlooking the scenery that can be seen from the window. This is a great place to have a romantic dinner, not to mention one of Reno’s top restaurants. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a special evening to spend with their significant other or to simply have some amazing food. The staff immediately accommodating to your needs and never forgets to smile. We were at ease immediately and felt as if we were the only ones being catered to. Pork tenderloin was delicious and the duck confit was even more so. I only wish I had sampled more of what they have to offer, maybe someday in the future I shall return! If you’re contemplating a visit, please do, you wont regret it.

Enjoying a leisurely, relaxing dinner at 4th Street Bistro is without a doubt the best aspect of traveling to Reno on business… Should you be dining on a Thursday night, strongly consider the«Burger Thursday» special(perfectly grilled(to medium, as suggested by staff) burgers made from the kitchen’s trimmings of Niman Ranch filet mignon). Suggestion: Enjoy the heirloom tomatoes, house-made pickle, onion, etc. which accompany the burger as a veggie«side». The utterly simplistic, yet heavenly, quartet of filet mignon burger, white cheddar(w/Hatch chiles in my case) and delicate bun was a perfectly primal and delicious experience. Enjoy a cheese platter for dessert… This is an absolute little oasis of civility and wonderful dining outside the hustle-and-bustle of downtown Reno. Can’t wait to return!

4th Street Bistro is by far one of the best experiences in Reno. Yes I called it an experience because when you eat here that is what you will have. An amazing experience. The setting is modern and cozy. The patio is beautiful and you can tell that they take great care and love with the outside area. Carol and Natalie are some of the best in town when it comes to cuisine. I have been here several times and every time I leave completely satisfied. Everything is so fresh and tasty. The servers are excellent. Heidi is my favorite and Kim is also a great server. They both make sure you have everything you need to enjoy your meal. Their wine list is extensive and Carol really knows her stuff when it comes to providing a great pairing for the night. The other night she recommended Maple Manhattans to go with the pork belly appetizer and it married perfectly. The heirloom tomato salad was the best I have ever had and I didn’t realize how refreshing an extremely fresh mozzarella could be. Makes all the difference. The scallops were large and so fresh. They were awesome. I can never come here without finishing with the chocolate torte. It is to die for. If you haven’t been to 4th Street Bistro yet you are missing out on one of the best places in Reno. Be sure to check it out.

By far the BEST restaurant experience in Reno! We had the opportunity to have dinner here last weekend with some excellent friends. The service and food was excellent. Here are the details: We all were celebrating my wife’s birthday and wanted to kick things off with an amazing bottle of wine. Enter their reserve wine list. They have an AMAZING wine list from entry level to OMG car payment level. We landed on one of the best Syrahs in the world IMHO.(2011 Shafer«Relentless» Napa Valley Syrah) Our waiter brought it out with a smile, offered to decant it, and poured us all a taste. Next we moved on to salads and mains.(We passed on apps, but mainly due to us pregaming at Whispering Vine) Each of us decided to order something different from the menu. I had the opportunity to try their heirloom tomato salad w/burratta. The tomatoes were at the peak of freshness and the burratta was some of the creamiest i’ve ever enjoyed. The seasoning was spot on and needed nothing. Then they were offering lamb chops(topped with an olive tapenade) over a creamy polenta and a Mediterranean ratatouille. That was an excellent, well thought out dish, that I enjoyed every bite of. Then at the end of the dinner we labored over picking a dessert to share and landed on two. The first is a MUST if you or your lady is a chocolate lover — TCHO Organic Bittersweet Chocolate(GF) — Ganache Torte with a Pecan Crust & Caramel Sauce and the other was a special offering — Fresh Pluot Upside-Down Cake with Housemade Vanilla Ice Cream. Gotta say i’m glad we decided on two desserts that were so different. They were both beautifully done and the plates were almost licked clean.

Had a wonderful experience here on our date night beginning with our server thanking us for being«dressed-up», I’ll come back to later in this review… she also asked us if we had plans after dinner so she and the kitchen could accommodate any time constraints we may have, we did and they accommodated perfectly. This pleasant and refreshing exchange in todays restaurant experience was the opening to a great two hour relationship as first time patrons at the Bistro… We ordered two appetizers that were fantastic, not going into detail here because our tastes may be different from yours, and two single pours of wine, a.k.a. «by the glass» to enjoy while we decided on our entrées which took some time as there were many choices… The server also provided my wife with gluten free options in place of the bread that was served, more for me… The server and the rest of the wait staff were very attentive throughout the dinner ensuring our time spent with them was. Entrees were ordered along with two more glasses of wine and an off menu cold melon soup that sounded too interesting to pass up, the latter worked great as a pallet cleanser between the rich appetizers and main coarse. All in all a great experience and a coscsiensious staff that met all or needs serving great food! Now back to that opening comment… I actually had to think for a bit why the server thanked us for dressing up… as I looked around the room there was a mix from cargo shorts and ball caps to dresses and ties… the bistro itself is an old bungalow style house converted with an upscale french country feel on the inside and the service is far from lowbrow… I realized that the server respected our choice of clothing that fit their desired ambiance and in kind showed us respect with outstanding service… So my takeaway on this is just because a restaurant doesn’t have a dress code, which many don’t in this economy, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t dress appropriately…

I would give 4.5 stars because the sprouts was so so. But, foie gras is totally 5 stars with their wine pairing(came with dish). Ok, i would say this is a very warm and comfortable place to celebrate any occasions althought outside doesn’t look like a restaurant, but a residential more. My bf made a reservation a couple of weeks before. Once we arrive, the waitress was very nice and let us sit next to the window, with a nice view, very comfortable. The food was so good, especially Foie gras. OMG, it was too delicious(it made me feel, life is good). This is the best foie gras that I have ever had and it was only $ 24 and with two pieces. It is so awesome because that my bf and me got one whole piece! Also, the Duck Confit was very good dish too. I definitely will come back again, especially for the foie gras dish. I think I WANT to order 2 dishes foie gras next time. ^_^

We constantly say we’re going to 4th Street Bistro, but would inevitably talk ourselves out of it. I recently celebrated my birthday and wanted to go somewhere new. Since none of us had been, it was an obvious choice. We started off with cocktails and wine. Two of us had the Hanger 1 Mandarin Blossom Cosmo, which is a nice citrus twist on the classic cosmo. Three of us ended up getting the same dish– Grilled Niman Ranch Pork Tenderloin. Two of the dishes were cooked and presented perfectly, but one of them was obviously under-cooked. When my friend pointed out to the staff that it was not cooked through, she was told it was served correctly. I’m sorry, but pork is not supposed to be red when you serve it. To their credit, they did offer to cook it further. One of us had the lamb chops, and he said they were amazing, and cooked perfectly. My friend notified the wait staff that we were celebrating a birthday, but they must have forgotten. The table next to us was also celebrating a birthday, and got a birthday dessert. We shared the s’more for dessert, and got it with vanilla ice cream instead of coffee — something I recommend, as coffee ice cream doesn’t really go with the other ingredients. The dining room was a bit loud, especially for not being full. Other reviews mention nice ambiance and soft music, but I didn’t hear anything. It was a nice experience, but I don’t know if I’ll be back any time soon.

This is a very warm and comfortable place to celebrate a 37th wedding anniversary. Every single person there looks after you and makes sure you’re taken care of. The Liberty duck leg confite was excellent, very crispy, and the turkey was unlike anything I’ve ever tasted… SO delicious

This review is long overdue! My fiancé and I made a reservation here back in December to celebrate my 24th birthday. 4th St. Bistro was probably the fourth fancy, more upscale restaurant we have visited in the greater Reno/Lake Tahoe area and I was impressed! Overall, the night was a success and I can give them a solid five stars, despite a few minor flaws. First of all, we made a reservation for 7:00 pm. Parking was interesting and packed; I just assumed everyone liked this place. However, upon walking in, we noticed there was some type of business presentation going on that took up the entire left side of the building(at least half). I’m not sure how often something like this happens but it certainly affected the rest of the restaurant. Tables seemed pretty compact and we were squished in one area like sardines. Even though there were only about five other groups, the room was incredibly loud because we were so close together; I could literally hear every tables’ conversations. I know this must have been an odd night, so I didn’t want to deduct stars because of this. It didn’t seem to really bother anyone else; everyone was having a great time, and the servers made it work. To start off, I ordered a Bellini and Kyle ordered the Bulleit Maple Manhattan. Ordering these drinks together was perfect because mine was very light and refreshing while Kyles was smooth, dark, and provided a nice counterpart to the sweetness of mine. Both drinks were fantastic. For an appetizer, we ordered the Maple Glazed Niman Ranch Pork Belly Confit. Compared to other places we have had similar dishes, this one provided a little bit better portion for the price. It was absolutely delicious. I ordered the filet and my fiancé ordered the duck for the main course. Both dishes were flavorful and yummy. With an appetizer, drinks, and main courses, we decided to skip dessert because we were pretty content! Overall, the food was of very high quality, as were the drinks. We will definitely be back for another special occasion. My only minor complaint, besides the parking and seating fiasco described above, was the spotty waiter check-ins. Waiters have a difficult job because if they check on you too often, they become a bother. If they don’t check on you enough, your glasses become empty and things take forever. When our waiter WAS at our table, he made wonderful suggestions and was extremely helpful and courteous. However, there was plenty of staff and I felt like trips to our table were few and far between besides delivering food or taking our orders. With the staff to table ratio, this should not have been an issue at all.

My hubby and I went here for our joint birthday dinner. I was very excited to go here after reading previous reviews and I definitely was not disappointed. It is a quaint old house turned into a romantic restaurant. We were seated in a quiet corner table and the service was excellent. Our server suggested the Christmas cocktail which was a spiced wine cocktail and it did not disappoint. We started with Roast Cauliflower & Crescenza Cheese in Puff Pastry with White Truffle Oil which was delicious. For my main course I had the Scallops with Butternut Squash Risotto. I ordered it because the Risotto sounded so delicious — and it was! It was creamy and luscious. The Scallops were like butter, cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth. Dessert was a shared piece of the Triple Chocolate Gâteau. It was milk chocolate and dark chocolate layers topped with Chantilly cream. If we had not been in such a nice restaurant I would’ve licked the plate it was so good. My hubby and I had decided about half way through the appetizer that we were definitely adding this restaurant to our«special occasion restaurants» rotation. I cannot wait to go back again.

December 16, 2014 Tuesday — 6:00PM Dinner 2 adults Atmosphere — 5 stars Food –5 stars Service — 5 stars Background — Going into this place you expect a five star experience. As you can see above it did not let us down. My wife and I have our birthdays a week apart so we celebrate together with a special dinner. Atmosphere — Weirdest of locations but do not let that deter you from coming here. It is an old house set up a very charming and romantic way. Food Drinks — I had a Dogfish Head Palo Santo Marron. That beer has some bite at 12%. My Meal Appetizer Course — Roast Cauliflower & Crescenza Cheese in Puff Pastry with White Truffle Oil, which was a small cube of puff pastry topped with green cauliflower. It was very good. They also brought out some bread and butter. Main Course — I had the filet mignon, this is my favorite type of steak. Probably the most expensive so I do not order it that often. It was worth every penny. A butter knife could have been used on the succulent piece of beef heaven. Simply put my words would never do it justice, so I will leave it at that. The potatoes were served Potato-Gruyère Gratin. Wow! The potatoes went with the steak like a glove to a hand. Of course there was a vegetable and I ate some like a good boy. It was the first time I had broccolette, which is a hybrid veggie, broccoli and kale and the long stems reminded me of asparagus. As green veggie it is not too bad. Dessert — Can you chocolate goodness, and then you need to say it in French here. Oui! Triple Chocolate Gâteau was like having three separate cakes in on. Each layer of the cake was very unique. Oui Oui! It was amazing. Service — Simply put it was perfection. The host took us to table and looked at the large table near it and said they will be loud and moved us to the other side of the restaurant. Later the group came in, including the former Reno Mayor Cashell. Yeah name dropping. Future — Ummm duh, that would be a yes.

Unilocal to the Rescue! So I find myself in Reno, alone, hungry and not at all oriented on where to go for some good food. Tonight, it was as much about satisfying the soul as filling the belly. And Reno was scaring me a bit with the worn out casinos. A little research and 4th Street Bistro popped up. The mapping program struggled a bit but after a few quick U turns, I found myself in a discrete parking lot behind an older wood frame house turned restaurant. I was met and seated quick by the owner, who allowed me to find a seat suiting a little more privacy. There is a long and in depth wine list. But my needs were simple and I asked for a glass of 3 Saints from Happy Canyon(cuz I simply liked the name). It’s a little easier to randomly pick a wine when a place has so many top names. And it was good, very good. Without having a ravenous appetite, I was lured by a variety of appetizers. First up was an excellent pan seared foie gras accompanied with roasted strawberries and a cordial. Words do not do justice to the party your taste buds enjoy with this perfect plate. Followed with Roasted Squash Blossoms with crafted white cheddar filling and a light tomato sauce. I am not doing any justice to the plate at all. I could have this mouthful everyday of the year. I rounded up the meal with a mixed salad with beets. The only negative mark would be while the dressing was bright and sassy, a little restraint on the amount would have been better. Finally, just when I thought I would slip away, they tempted me with a touch of sweetness. And what sweetness it was. It was called French Cream, but it was a small plate of heaven. I left quietly, content and soul satisfied. I would be going home tomorrow.

Always a great evening at 4th Street Bistro. They have an awesome wine list, something for every budget and by all means ask for pairing suggestions. In 8 or more visits they haven’t missed yet. The chef has been on the locally sourced ingredient program since before it was fashionable and never fails to delight our palates. They have Niman Ranch pork and beef cuts and great seafoods too. Foie gras, pork belly, oysters, all the things to drive your taste buds to ecstasy, and still plenty of lighter and more subtle plates like the wild salmon tartare, and they are happy to accomodate any dietary preferences. We always split an entrée so we can have as many appetizers, soup, salad, dessert as possible! Such delightful flavor combinations. BTW, desserts are sized to share, in my opinion. We usually spend a bit of money when we’re here but it’s totally worth it! Their specialty cocktails are great too. They have a no cell phone policy, that I appreciate. It is a small and intimate dining room and no one wants to listen to someone yelling on their phone. I am surprised that the reviewer who protested that policy hasn’t taken their review down, since their entire $ 600 bill was comped!!!
