Seriously some of the best food in town. Prices are fair. Food is delicious. Everything a dive is supposed to be. The same people working here every day of the week. Friendly. The place has character.

Great food, great service, and atmosphere. While waiting for the rest of our party I overhead someone else state that«the best prime rib» was here, so I tried it. Yup, certainly was! Also, my daughter and I shared some steamed clams, the only ones I’ve ever had that even came close to my Dad’s. I love this place, will dine here at every opportunity.

This place is awesome! The Bloody Mary was fabulous. We had the chicken fried steak and the eggs Benedict. Delicious! We’ve already recommended this place to our friends.

Big Ed’s isn’t much to look at from the outside. In fact we almost didn’t go inside, but I’m glad we did. The place has an old time country saloon look and feel. It’s very basic, but really comfortable and the people were very nice. The food was really good and better than expected. My wife had the Eggs Benedict and was surprising pleased. She’s a poached egg fan and most places can’t do them properly. Big Ed’s did it perfectly. We will definitely come back if we are ever in the area again.

So today 03/25/2016 I go in there to pick up my breakfast and the girls where so nice and friendly especially I think her name was Sally she’s a redhead that wears glasses and the cook made me feel so uncomfortable that I almost didn’t pick up my breakfast he made me want to turn around and walk. He gives such dirty looks to the point where you want to ask him how unhappy is he really? If it weren’t for the two lady servers I wouldn’t have picked up my food…

I went here when I was desperate for Eggs Benedict at 3 in the afternoon. Everything was closed except for Ed’s. I’d never been here and wasn’t sure what to expect, but this place really delivered! I got the eggs bene with chorizo instead of ham plus potatoes, and my friend got eggs and potatoes. All of it was delicious. The chorizo was some of the best I’ve EVER had. The hollandaise sauce was really yummy, and they kept the sauce from making the chorizo soggy, somehow! Everything about the meal was perfect. I love how there is so much booth seating, and I would love to take a group of friends here for a special occasion. We sat at a window booth and had a really relaxing meal. The service was fantastic. We were greeted with a smile. I would love to come back again.

Had the big Eds Benedict with ham. It was tasty. The Hollandaise had a little strange taste to it. More like an Alfredo. I’m preferable to the lighter lemony Hollandaise. The home fries were excellent.

Ordered my burger medium well and it was perfect. Cooked all the way through and the chips yummo. Not too salty crisp and lots of them. People were so friendly and it’s close to work. I will be back

I enjoyed the food from Big Ed’s Alley Inn. It was not breathtaking, but above average with good flavor.

Good food, good ppl. And an added benefit — I was able to watch football — the real thing, not American football. Good place — check it out :) #LiveLOUDer

The phrase, «don’t judge a book by its cover,» comes to mind when visiting Big Ed’s Alley Inn. Sharing a building with the dive bar next door, its large windows provide a generous view of the strip club across the street. The room sports a funky mix of seating with booths, bar stools, and mismatched tables. Despite the location, the place attracts diners from all walks of life, including entire families for Sunday breakfast. Though I’m well-familiar with their great chicken-fried steak, Big Ed’s has been hiding a secret from me in plain sight: a dinner menu served Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. My wife and I joined another couple for a meal on a Friday night, and my first impression was how different the vibe is without sunlight streaming through the windows. The lighting is quite low, reminding me of steakhouses I took dates to in the ‘80s. Once our eyes adjusted, the menu revealed a surprising number of seafood options, a few chicken dishes, steaks, prime rib, and the lamb chops of which I’d heard rumors. A man of basic tastes, my buddy ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries from the lunch menu($ 9.95, also available with housemade potato chips). The fresh-cut fries were not quite as crisp as I’d prefer, but the flavor was quite good. A cheese-covered, pound patty of aptly-seasoned hamburger was cooked to medium doneness, though ordered medium rare. A sesame-seeded bun, two strips of crispy bacon, and the usual veggies completed the dish. Dinners are served in classic American style with a choice of soup or salad, a side of baked beans and a baked potato. A basket full of warm, sliced baguette got things off to a crusty, chewy start. The salads had plenty of fresh greens, onion, tomato, cheese, and housemade dressings. My cup of chicken vegetable soup had a hearty broth and noodles that looked like they might have been made fresh. What better on a cold evening than a good housemade soup? Big Ed’s beans were very good, with a fair amount of onion, a touch of smoke, and a bit of a spicy kick amongst the sweet brown sugar flavor. Unfortunately – though tasty – they were served lukewarm. Making up for the bean’s low temperature, some of the biggest baked potatoes I’ve ever seen filled out each plate with fluffy, steaming, spuddy goodness. My wife went all-in with butter, sour cream, and fresh chive that actually looked big enough to be scallion. Teriyaki top sirloin was my wife’s choice($ 17.95, 12oz). The sauce wasn’t overly sweet and the meat’s flavor was good, but the steak was cooked to medium-well despite having been ordered medium. Based on the burger and then the steak, the chef’s notion of «doneness» differs from mine when it comes to cooking beef. Our friend’s order of perfectly-fried, beer-battered prawns was served with lemon wedges, cocktail and tartar sauces($ 19.95). The cocktail sauce was average, but the tartar had the same spicy kick on the back end as the beans. I liked it best among the two; I prefer cocktail sauce to have more horseradish than this example. Thankfully, my rack of lamb was cooked a perfect medium rare, served with an excellent mushroom rosemary sauce($ 22.95). The rack was sliced into eight chops, served standing up with the meaty ends still connected. Each chop came away from its neighbor with ease, and I chose to hold the frenched end and dip them in the sauce like a meat pop. If I were dining in fancier digs I might have remembered my table manners and employed fork and knife, but in these surroundings I hoped no one would mind. The chops were every bit as good as I’d been told, and our overall experience was memorable. It’s probably just as well there is no dessert menu; I couldn’t have eaten another delicious bite.

My Mom had not been here in like 20 years. She said she could wait 20 more before she came back! And I agree. First it was a chilly mid morning and the AC was blowing so hard I had to go get a coat from my car.(At least four people left their coats on, 10 there) Second the service was meh not bad but not friendly either. We walked in no one said a word. We didn’t know do we wait to be seated, do we seat ourself??? Hello any one work here so… we sat ourselves. Lastly the food, we both ordered Ed’s Benedict. When it came to the table I told the waitress the one she gave my mom was the one I ordered, she played along even told a cute story therefor 1STAR! Our food was terrible«home-fries» burnt and cold, the Benedict well lets just say lunchmeat ham and hollandaise from a big can… GROSS!!! Another part of the 1star egg had a runny yolk!

Big Ed’s hits the spot with a hearty meal! We were coming straight from burning man and starving for some hearty food. Big Ed’s was right where we needed it to be, with large servings, filling dishes, and a decent variety of options, including breakfast all day. We got the meatloaf and cheese sandwich and a pastrami on rye. Both were reasonably good eats. The meatloaf tasted freshly made in house. Service was good, without missing filling our waters or otherwise meeting our needs. Parking was simple with easy access around the corner of the storefront.

Today was our 1st time here! It was delicious!!! We had Chicken Fried Steak w/3eggs over medium, country potatoes and English muffin! Eggs were cooked perfectly, chicken fried steak was amazingly good! Tender enough to cut with a fork yet nice crunchy crust around it. Just the right amount of gravy a top n bottom as well. Potatoes were also good. Nice texture and cooked! I will have it again after I try the Ed’s Benedict next visit tho. Also had the bay shrimp/crab omelette w/potatoes n English muffin. It was great! The bar/restraunt isn’t huge but they did well with the layout to keep it comfortable & enjoyable! Service was good n friendly and the food was awesome! We will go here again!

Most of the reviews for this place are for breakfast, but I went for dinner. We were looking for a steak at a place that was close and moderately priced. As there are no draft taps in the house, I chose a bottle of bud light. It was good and cold when they brought it out. For appetizers we chose steamed clams and fried calamari. The calamari came out piping hot, and served with a white sauce and a red sauce; both were good. The batter was crisp and light so it complimented the mild calamari flavor. The steamed clams were perfect! I have eaten steamed clams in a lot of places, these were as good as I have had anywhere. The broth was so good for dipping the hot buttered baguette. The broth made the dish, and was so good that when the clams were gone I poured it into my empty beer glass and drank the last of it. My wife and I split the rib eye steak. There was a $ 4.00 fee for splitting a meal but they gave you 2 full baked wa Aaapotatoes, 2 sides of beans and 2 salads for the split fee. I thought it was a good deal. The steak was delicious and ours was cooked just right. As for location, well, the location probably has alot to do with the reviews all being about breakfast. It might be intimidating for some to come down after dark. The owners have done a great job fixing this place up and the staff working the night we went were the nicest most accommodating people. Their good service really added to my enjoying a great dining experience.

Have been coming here since they opened in the early 80’s. You can always count on great greasy breakfast ! The Ed’s Benedict is oozing with a fried egg and smooth hollandaise sauce, home fries are always flavored and filling. Can’t go wrong with the breakfast sandwich. Grab with both hands and bite. Spicy Bloody Mary with horseradish makes tops off the breakfast craving.

I actually sent a coworker to go pick up an order I placed over the phone. I ordered the chicken burrito. I’ve been on a mexican food crave for like a month now. Earlier this week I had macho tequila’s man this place blew tequila’s out of the water! I could taste all of the flavors that authentic Mexican cuisine has. My craving has been officially satisfied! About 9 bucks will get you a huge burrito and a side of french fries. I really shouldn’t have finished the whole thing, but it was so damn good! I will definitely be in to try their breakfast one of these days :)
