I’ve been coming to this place sense I was 8 years old. But no long go it’s been 2 months and will never go there again. Every one that works there is very rude, I’ve learned Chinese and I have hard what they say about there customers and what they do with the food. I don’t get how anyone would give them a tip, they have a tip jar, you know what my tip for there jar is treat people with respect greet them and don’t talk about them. the food nothing that’s great it’s basic it is cheap that’s all.

A nice little hole in the wall Chinese place. They serve it quick and for the price you really can’t go wrong. I definitely recommend going during busy hours so all the food is fresh. The Grand egg rolls are massive and quite delicious. If you’re looking for a quick nosh for lunch or whatever, jias wok is a great place to go.

This place is absolutely gross. Rice was hard like it wasn’t cooked. Chow mein was bland. Orange chicken was just bread and sour. Don’t even bother with the kung pao chicken. You are better off taking your services to Panda Express(never thought I’d say that). I don’t know how they can serve the food they make and expect people to eat it. I doubt they even try their own food.

Wow! I had no idea what this place was before going in and I was so surprised! A girl I work with suggested I try her favorite Chinese food in town, «Jia’s Wok! Oh my gosh, it’s so good!» She said. I had to try it! Sitting inside a parking lot I have always overlooked, I was happy to find that this little restaurant isn’t more than 5 minutes from my house which is nice. I had an idea of what I wanted, chow mein, of some kind, however walking inside completely caught me off guard… It looked like a Panda Express inside or like one of the places inside the mall… only better… way better! Chicken chow mein, pork fried rice, and then an awesome selection of entrees! What caught my eye was the salt and pepper prawns! For $ 7.80…no joke that cheap! I got half chow mein, half rice, salt and pepper prawns that were huge! And beef broccoli which had just come out fresh! I couldn’t believe I got all that, including the prawns for that price! I got my food to go and drove home, the smell from the bag making my stomach begin to rumble. I planned on sharing the food with my mom, and the whole plate easily stretched between the two of us! The prawns were amazing! The best flavor I have had on prawns for a fast Chinese place like this hands down. The broccoli was fresh and cooked perfectly, not soggy still had a crunch. The chow mein wasn’t too greasy for me and the rice was great too… Still, both my mom and I… and my dad who got to ry one too… agree that the prawns were the best! Close by, great tasting fast Chinese food with prawns that taste like that??? My new fav. Place for this!

Went to Jia’s Wok last night for takeout and I was very unimpressed to say the least. I got the combo #1 plate which was around $ 6. I got the orange chicken, general’s chicken, and fried rice. Both chicken dishes had the exact same bland, fake orange-ish flavor and the general’s chicken was not spicy at all like it should be. They were also covered in way too much breading, way too much thick sauce, and barely any chicken which was very overcooked and very dry on the inside. The fried rice wasn’t too bad, just slightly overcooked. The woman who served us had a frown on her face the whole time and obviously looked like she didn’t want to be there. I did not enjoy the food and I did not feel welcome so I will not be going back anytime soon.

Had a horrible experience all round. Orange chicken was mostly bread. Was equal to Panda Express prices but not as good. BBQ wings were some weird texture. Stopped eating it ¼ the way through. Try it yourself? They may need to try all new recipes.

My brother and I stopped by here because it was just up the street from where we lived. We figured, «Well we’ve passed by here a thousand times, we need to try it.» Worst decision of that month. We got a combo plate with our usual favorites and sat down to eat. The rice that they have here is probably some of the best rice that I’ve ever eaten! But everything else was horrid. My brother and I agreed that our General’s chicken tasted like it had been made with ketchup. Now I’m a little hesitant to give Jia’s Wok a bad rating because I can tell that the family that owns this restaurant are real pleasant people. In fact when we went there I saw what I assumed to be the owners’ grandchildren there doing homework with their mom or aunt. This place is a real family owned store, which is nice compared to a lot of franchised places. Overall, it seems like nice folks work here and own this place, but the term«Jia’s Wok» has now become synonymous with bad food for me and my brother.

The tap water here is great. It’s free, they give you an 6oz cup, and it’s impossible to get a refill, unless you’re willing to get water out of the bathroom tap. When my pug gets his weekly urine tests, he pees enough to fill one of these tiny cups up twice. Seriously, I left a 20% tip. At least dish out the extra 2.4 cents and give me a cup that I don’t need to refill 50 times. The food was pretty much disgusting. The shrimp isn’t even shelled or deveined. But it’s deepfried in a tempura-like batter. So yeah, the shrimp is literally sh**ty. Figuratively speaking as well, don’t get me wrong. I can deal with the shell. But please scoop the shrimp crap out before you feed me this. Good riddance. The sesame chicken is just horrible. I’ve never had an artificial-plum flavored jolly rancher, but I bet that is how it would taste. Just add in a quart of 20 weight motor oil and a bottle of high fructose corn syrup, and there you have Jia’s secret formula. Yeah, it sounds like some redneck trucker guy’s credo«I like my women like I like my Jia’s Wok, greasy, sweet, and tastin’ like fake plums». But I digress. If you respect your body, don’t eat here.

Service-3 average service. Food –5 I love their spicy beef noodle soup, very flavorful and unique taste. I also tried spicy bean curd noodle soup as well. All noodle soup dishes were good.

Giving this place a two pains me, but until they start treating customers better it’s going to stay a two. So the first time I went there the braised beef noodle soup was delicious. We were getting weird looks from the staff(because we’re white? No idea.) but the food made up for it. We decided to go back that same week. The lady at the counter looked crestfallen to see us. I was flabbergasted. Why would she be upset that we were back? We weren’t loud or rude and we tipped well. She treated us with disdain the entire time we ordered our food. When we got our braised beef noodle soup, it was full of fat — no meat. It may have been a coincidence, but I believe it was a slight. Since then I haven’t gone back, nor do I intend to. There are plenty of other places around town that serve authentic Chinese food where the employees won’t care that you’re white.

We live in california, read the reviews and had the beef noodle there last week when back from vacation. The food really reminded me the days in Guigang! Highly recommended. I was trying to call the restaurant after coming back to the Bay Area, but the call could not go through. Does anybody know if they are still open?

The beef noodle soup has a distinct authentic flavor. The owner says it is Guiyang style. That explains it has rice noodle. This is an un-common beef noodle soup, even in China. Owner must use the same soup base for a few other noodle soups. I wish I can try them all…

This restaurant was recommended to me by a Chinese friend. So unlike some people possibly, I knew going into the place that it is run by some nice ladies that are from the(Si Chuan) province of China. For all of you that’s a heads up that the place likes it’s spicy food. If you are a spice freak like me, it’s really not all too bad. If not, you can also ask not to add spice. Like any Chinese restaurant, if you want the good food, it’s usually not found on the hot line. Try the soups, get a feel for the local foods that those cooks know best, and you will find yourself a good meal.

Upon recommendation of Unilocal… I headed out to Jai’s Wok. No need for a blow by blow here. It’s «fast chinese food». You know the drill. Place seems clean. Loved the Beef Noodle Soup… spicy. Don’t know everything in it… but it all works together for my pleasure. Thank you John B for this piece of fiery heaven. Also the Su My is great too! Not a big fan of the other stuff… but I don’t really care. Gonna go back for the delightful noodle soup. Would I recommend it to friends? Ummmm. If they like REAL spicy… this is a top notch place to go for soup.

Credit Unilocal with leading me to smash another long-standing assumption about a Reno-area eatery and find good food. I saw Unilocaler John B.‘s list of soup he likes and he listed Jia’s Wok at the top. I knew of Jia’s Wok from both the Park Lane store and the second store that was open a while in Sparks. Neither seemed very good. It seemed to specialize in the Americanized Chinese food. And they make it in advance and serve it to you from the hot tray. I went there today and tried the spicy beef soup. Holy cow it was great and was some of the most authentic Chinese food I’ve found in Reno. This is coming from a gweilo, of course, but I have a friend who is quite knowledgeable about Chinese food and I’ll have him stop by and try it next time he is in Reno. Be forewarned it is really spicy. They ain’t screwing around here. The spice mostly comes from a dried red pepper you stir into the soup. They also have a fresh green pepper that adds some zip. They also add onions and cilantro, slices of meat like you get in Vietnamese phở and cubed beef like you get in stew. The noodles are big and tasty. I can’t say they’re hand pulled but they’re excellent. The soup is a steal for $ 6 a bowl. My lips were numb by the end of the meal. I ended up going to the mini mart next door to get an ice cream bar to ease the heat. The woman I believe is the owner said the recipe for this soup is from her city. She said the name but I couldn’t understand it. She said it is about an eight-hour drive from Sichuan. There’s other soups I want to try as well. The woman I believe is the owner said she served the soups when she was at the Park Lane location, but I never saw anything like this there. I had written off Sinbad’s Hot Dogs because the hot dogs were so bad under a prior owner. Positive Unilocal reviews got me to try them now they’ve got good hot dogs. And a positive Unilocal review led me to authentic Chinese soup here in Reno.

The soup is authentic and delicious. My favorites are the beef noodles soup, bean curd & noodles soup, won ton noodles soup and mushroom chicken noodles soup. It’s a pretty large portion for $ 6.

went here with my friend, where we had lunch packs-to-go. I got sauteed noodles, fried potatoes, and steam vegetables — -they turned out to be SOGOOD, very tasty, with just the right amount of cooking done. Well done! Good, attentive service, too!
