We absolutely love this place. Friendly employees and great food and drinks! We have tried several different Mexican restaurants in the Reno area and this is by far the best! Love their salsa, guacamole, carnitas, chicken burritos, steak nachos and amazing raspberry margaritas! They keep it nice and cool and very clean! They have a nice patio area you can dine in and an area for big parties! I highly recommend this great place.

I used to order here all the time when my wife worked across the street. Although the food is pricey, it’s pretty good, at least what we order. I usually get the Ahi Tuna salad. It’s a weird salad as it doesn’t feel Mexican but I don’t care because it taste great lol. It’s like a Caesar salad with ahi tuna. My wife always go for the fish tacos and rice. She loves that with the chip and salsa. Unlike other places, the salsa here has a kick and flavor. Sometimes it’s hard to find a place that can do both. Sometimes the wait here is ridiculous even though I place the order way ahead. So if you’re looking for decent Mexican food and don’t mind the wait, this place is for you.

Our Sunday night family outing. Great food and service. The Birria is the best. Enjoy inside or outside a hidden gem in south Reno

I’ve been here a couple of times since they opened. It’s pretty much middle of the road bland Mexican food. The chips and salsa are best part of a meal.

Food was just ok. Nothing to write home about. Thought it would be better, but it wasn’t.

Let me start by saying we came to this place because it was the first Mexican restaurant, after calling several others, that said they made Queso… and knew what I meant when I asked if they had queso. Well, let me state that the queso they brought to our table was nothing like I expected. If you have never had queso, let me tell you it is not the melted shredded Colby Jack cheese that this place serves as queso. I don’t want to say that I know Mexican food better than anyone else, but I have spent several years in Texas where true Mexican food is. And let me say this place was as Mexican as Taco Bell. I ordered the chimichanga and I am pretty sure the shredded chicken was just cut up pieces of soft rubber. My wife ordered the nachos and what came out was grease soaked corn chips smothered in beans and chicken that had sat in some kind of red sauce. The only redeeming quality to this place is that they were very polite and the service was great. But if you like Mexican food then you need to avoid this place!

They close at 10:00pm on this weekday. I called to place an order, the man who answered stated, «sorry we’re closed.»

Service is worse than ever! Usually it’s tolerable, tonight adding an Attitude! Ordered a Fajita Meat Burrito. Inside Greasy, sloppy, fatty Meat in some type of red sauce, Onions, Green Peppers, Cheese, substance of Sloppy Joes. Returned for Shrimp Taco’s and Whole Beans. No flavor! I could have used Salt and Pepper, of course none on the Table in a Restaurant I asked for the Owner(sure miss Abel) he said he was Sorry. Myself and Friends have been going there since it opened putting up w horrible service, it was the last time tonight! Brings dripping drinks to the table, have to ask for a napkin. Walking by looking @ empty glass’s, just keeps on going. Empty bowl of Chips, looks and keeps going. If the waitress is irritated with people asking for things, don’t walk by and do nothing. Many years ago when I was in the Restaurant business, we never left a table with out picking up @ least one thing, asking if you would like a refill, need more chips? Not here!

Do yourself a favor — stop in before 6pm for happy hour! The $ 2 special carnitas or steak tacos are amazing, especially with the green salsa… and $ 5 margaritas were the best I’ve ever had. This coming from someone who isn’t even a fan of margaritas. The warm chips and red salsa are also excellent!

Favorite Mexican cuisine in Reno by far! I go here weekly for some delicious Margaritas, enchiladas and bomb chips and salsa. Such deliciousness!

I organized a Breakthrough business mixer here with over 120 people in attendance. We mostly used the patio and the inside bar area. Jose did a fantastic job with providing excellent food and drinks for a packed house. The Chimichanga’s and the ceviche are incredibly good. The pomegranate margaritas are tasty too!

This place is great. The couple times I have been there they were not crowded and our waitress greeted us right away. The feel is as if it is family owned and operated. They seem to really care about how and when their customers are served. The chips and salsa(which are wonderful) are served immediately with water when you arrive. I had a carnitas plate which was to die for. The chile verde green sauce and guacamole that was served with it were flavorful and kind of chunky. The rice and beans were also very good. My husband had the carne asada plate which was fabulous. I am a huge fan of carne asada so I order it almost every time when going to Mexican places and this one is hands down one of the best. It was tender and marinated very well, the thickness just right. We were attended to promptly but not too much. Over all it was a very nice experience. I like that we were one of the three tables that were filled, but we were surprised why they aren’t busier on a Saturday night. It will definitely be our go to place when craving Mexican.

July 22, 2015 Wednesday — 6:30PM for dinner 3 Adults and 2 kids Atmosphere — 4 stars Food — 5 stars Service — 5 stars Background — Time for update, it was my second review. Clearly overdue based on my check in count. Sadly I have only had the smart phone for over a year. I come here sometimes for the bar and other times for dinner. Atmosphere — A strip mall restaurant. Vibrate colors give you that authentic feel. We sat a rounded booth but the table rocked, and not just a little. There was definitely something wrong with the table to leg. Wobbly tables annoy me. Food Drinks — Just water tonight with my meal. Appetizer — Free chips and salsa. We order a side of guacamole dip, it was fresh and tasty. I could have eaten that all night. Actually I had a hard time stopping, and worse I knew that the burrito was going to be big. Dinner — I had the #22 the Burrito Especial with the Chile Verde. Love the ‘Verde’ tomatillo sauce, had a very mild kick which went well with the pork. It was a burrito, and filled me up. Maybe I should have stopped before finishing it. Service — The baskets of free chips never emptied and neither did my water. The waitress was great. Future — Of course I will go back.

I was always curious about this place, as it’s right next to the salon I go to. One day I decided to check it out and I’m glad I did. The restaurant is surprisingly large inside with lots of tables. The service was great, my waiter was very attentive and my food came out very quickly despite it being the lunch hour. I ordered the taco salad and thought it was good. It came in a traditional fried tortilla bowl. Unfortunately it was primarily beans and rice and hardly any lettuce, which was disappointing because I actually was looking forward to a taco salad, not a bean bowl. But I asked for a side of lettuce and they brought it out right away. I also enjoyed their chips and salsa. They seemed to be a type of multi grain chip, and the salsa was thin and delicious. I’m looking forward to stopping in after my next salon appointment to try their enchiladas.

Ok, I’ve been back twice since my last review and I’ve decided it’s time to add a star. Here’s why: –the margaritas are fantastic. –camarones al mojo de ajo I had last time were so good –this time I had a tamale and a chili rellano and they were both good. The tamale may have been a little heavier on the masa than I usually like but at least it was good masa with lots of flavor. The rellano had no heat at all unfortunately but the batter was perfection– light and eggy. –I had black beans with my meal this time and I really liked those. And their rice is really good too, and the beans and rice together could satisfy me as an entire meal. –those chips. They have some of the best chips ever in the whole world. Also, the salsa is good. –I tasted some of my son’s cheeseburger and fries this time and they are both good too.

Birria… a Mexican word describing one of three dishes, a barbecue style goat topped with delicious salsa roja, a Mexican stew with goat meat, or stewed and braised beef in a warmly spiced and savory tomato salsa. At La Posada you’ll find option 3 on the menu, and it’s a dish that I discovered here, and a dish that has been bringing me back here over and over again for the last 7 years. On the surface the dish seems simple, beef, slowly braised until tender in a tomato based salsa with some herbs and spices, but one bite of this stuff and you’ll know that hours of time went into making it so perfect. There are some rich and complex layers of flavor here that come from carefully selecting the right chiles, roasting the spices like cumin and cinnamon, and adding them to the stew at exactly the right time. The dish is magic, and the warm tortillas, onions, cilantro, and guacamole, are the perfect accompaniment. To wash it all down I highly recommend the top shelf margarita. Buyer beware, these drinks are strong, but oh so satisfying. If I don’t feel like tequila I go for an ICECOLD Negra Modelo on draft. La Posada is the best place to get it in town! Jose, his sister, and the entire staff here are incredibly friendly and treat you like family. The service is on point and very fast all the time, and there really isn’t a bad dish on the menu. The reason for 3 stars instead of 4 is because this past visit just wasn’t as good as the others. It kind of sucks to give that rating after being a customer for so long, but something was off. I hope since they opened the new location in Carson this one isn’t sliding. I’m going to go back soon to find out for sure.
