Being a meat eater, I wasn’t too excited about the prospects of a no meat food truck the first time I had it, but it was the most convenient food choice(they were parked right out front of Chapel Tavern). I gave the cheese«steak» wrap a try and was very pleasantly surprised. More recently, I gave the buffalo«chicken» wrap a try and enjoyed it just as much. They do a great job at letting you forget that you are basically eating rabbit food.

Got a sample of Nom Eats(No Meats) today, actually, more like a mini-meal, got a small burrito, taco, and Philly cheese steak slider. Amazing this was not meat! This was about the closest you can get to eating familiar food with similar texture, mouth feel, etc. but you are eating VEGAN of all things! Good news is the soy was organic, which to me would be a deal breaker if it wasn’t since Soy is almost always GMO if it isn’t organic! They had plenty of sauces on hand, I like the Habanero one best, I think it had Chipolte in it too, kind of smokey. It was tasty and added that extra bit of punch and flavor. The service was awesome, you can tell these people are passionate about what they do. Overall, I still feel full, which is unusual for a Dragon, so BRAVO!

Vroom, vroom — all hail the food truck! 20 years ago, a food truck was referred to as a «roach coach» and they went out to remote work sites and served workers that forgot sack lunches that day. It filled you up if you could keep it down. Fast forward to now, and the food truck culture is some sort of cult. For the most part, I still think of a food truck meal as something that you do out of necessity, not choice; but if you’re going to eat out of one, you might as well try to find a good one and Nom Eats is quite delish. No Meats(get it?) serves up some good vegan fare and the buffalo chicken burrito tasted like… buffalo chicken wrapped up as a burrito! No disappointment here. The service was friendly, if not quite a bit slow the evening that I ordered — to their credit, the slow service was because of a stove malfunction, so I hope this isn’t a regular occurrence. If you find yourself having to fill up at a food truck rally, check out this one!

I am not a vegan by any chance because I LOVE food. But who’s to say that I am not aloud to eat vegan food. My cousin was in town last week from San Diego and she’s «vegan-ish». I have heard about Nom Eats from Food Truck Fridays but have not had the chance to try it. My cousin, my brother and myself was looking for a place to eat around 10:30pm. My brother mentioned that Nom Eats is at Reno Public House that night. So off we go to Reno Public House. We got great parking being this was in Midtown, and started to get closer and closer to Nom Eats food truck. There was not a lot of people around so that was nice because we didn’t really have to wait very long to order or to get our food. My brother and myself ordered the Taco Sampler, that comes with«chicken», beans, and«steak», tacos, which is fairly priced at $ 7. Out of the three, the crispy«chicken» was the best. Although it didn’t taste anything like a real chicken to me, the flavors and the crispness was perfection. The steak also had really good flavors, if I remember correctly, I believe it was a chipotle type sauce. The bean taco was the least favorite only because of the thick consistency but I still devoured it. We also grabbed some of the free chips which I am sure was homemade but it tasted like Lay’s chips. Overall a great experience between the friendly service and the great food. I do want to try everything on their menu so I’m sure I’ll be back. I have always found vegan food to be creative for the fact that it copies the taste of meat without having to use the real thing. Using tempeh, tofu or seit

I have had a special«The last dose» burrito which I think was beans, rice, «chicken», and jalapeño cilantro sauce. I have heard nothing but good thing about this food, and that it does not seem«vegan»… its closet vegan food you could say. I also had one single taco(I had sushi earlier in the day), and it was the best seller, the deep fried soy curd with jalapeño cilantro sauce again. It looks kind of plain, but everything comes together for me. The sauce really perks up the soy curds. The«meat» used is reminiscent of peanut flavor, so I get a very asian vibe from the food here. Reminds me of the fried tofu I get in pad thai. I will be back, I think the owner is a stellar guy, so I may be biased, but seriously, even if you aren’t a vegan food person, you will still enjoy and even crave this food. And what isn’t a healthier option when having multiple pints of beer? Oh, and the portions are huge for amazing prices… you really can’t go wrong here, even if you are a hardcore carnivore, like myself.

I’m happy to say this is not the first #vegan experience in The #BiggestLittleCity to knock my socks off! Nope, that title belongs to the Electric Blue Elephant. But I’m happy because that means that: 1) There is more than one vegetarian/vegan option in town! 2) Restauranteurs like Nom Eats are stepping up their game and showing us what vegan cuisine can be by bashing all our preconceived notions! 3) Vegan food can be just as craveable and downright delicious as anything else we’ve got to offer! Nom Eats is putting kooky and creative vegan twists to familiar favorites, and keeping it fresh and funky with an eclectic ever changing menu of specials too! The day I stopped by I was immediately torn between the«Chicken Salad Club» which had something called coconut bacon on it, and the Buffalo Burrito, stuffed with crispy buffalo«chicken», creamy coleslaw, and Mac n cheez. But the menu features salad options as well as some very tantalizing taco offerings as well, which I think I’d like to try on my next visit. Honestly I don’t think I could’ve made a bad choice here, but I went with the burrito because it sounded large and in charge. The crispy buffalo chicken offered that classic buffalo spice with just enough of that crispness to make you think you were eating something fried. The creamy coleslaw also added a nice crunch as well, while the Mac was a soft and tender compliment to it all. I think my one criticism was that I’d wished the«chicken» were in larger pieces and the Mac n cheez was a bit bland. But all that said, the awesome array of specialty hot sauces offered at this truck fixed all of that in a jiffy! I wished I’d remembered the one I tried because it was damn good, but all I could remember was owner Ian telling me it was a former member of a rock band who created it! Overall, I’m super excited to have Nom Eats on scene and they will definitely be a truck I seek out when given the opportunity. In the meantime, I might have to catch them at Under a The Rose for food truck night or at one of the upcoming summer time food truck rallies! While I hope they have a huge line all season long, part of me hopes vegan food is still intimidating to some people so I can get my hands on some of their yummy grub again soon!
