Nice hot evening, perfect for roof top seating enjoying a refreshing beer with fellow Unilocalers! I had the berry ale tonight. It was light, a touch of sweet but not overly sweet, smooth and oh so refreshing. A great beer! For dinner I had a Roasted Pear and Goat Cheese Salad It is mixed greens with oven roasted Bartlett pears, strawberries, candied almonds and goat cheese with a hefeweizen vinaigrette. A light and flavorful salad perfect for a warm evening. Absolutely love UYE’s and getting the chance to hang with fellow Unilocalers. Another successful UYE for the books — Thanks Paul!

Paul’s Beer Club is as good as it gets. When it comes to the Unilocal gatherings, I have not seen any better. The Silver Peak has always been a favorite of mine even before it was known at Silver Peak back in the 90s, this location has always offered good service and food. This evening was no exception. What I didn’t know about this place was there was an actual brewery on premise! It’s small and the tanks are crammed in there tight, but this place is as clean as any beer brewery should be. I was impressed. A boil was going on when we arrived and the brewery was hot. Really hot! It felt great! Sam, the brew master, did his best to show us around, but PR is not his forte and I thought he did a great job. I actually got to taste a beer that was just one day in the fermenter! It was light, cloudy and sweet. Paul S. noted that it tasted like honey. I think that would be a great light beverage for summer. Not heavy, light in alcohol and sweet. Even though the tour was short, it was good to see a part of the restaurant I have never seen! Service was good. I was asked several times if I wanted another beer, how everything was, how everything tasted. Service was polite and served with a smile! In a large party, it’s difficult for all the food to come out at the same time and served hot. I can only say, they must not get large parties on a regular basis. Parking can be slim. If you come here, do so before the dinner rush. They have parking in front and in the back. The neighborhood is fair mid-town neighborhood. Your car should be safe. I should know, I have family living just a couple blocks away! The Atmosphere on the roof top was interesting. I’ve never eaten up here before and I liked it. Despite the fact that the sun, at times, would blaze through anything standing up there, it was nice and even nicer once the sun was behind the clouds!!! The environment upstairs was pleasant. Once the food arrived, I anxiously awaited for my lamb burger to be delivered to me from the tray. It always, even as an adult, seems to take forever when the food arrives on the serving tray, to be delivered in front of my wanting belly! Though it wasn’t served as hot as I would like it, it was tasty. The goat cheese was creamy and fresh and the patty was cooked med-well to well. The fries were decent and would have been better and enjoyed more if served glistenly hot! But I wasn’t dissapointed. — — — — — — — Bottom Line Paul, you did a good job with this event, as always. It was fun, entertaining and filling! The Silver Peak is a restaurant I would recommend and will patronize again.

This was such a fun evening with delicious food and drinks and wonderful conversation with some great people. This Silver Peak location, also locally loosely known as «Wonder peak» is the original and is my favorite. I especially love the rooftop dining area. Eating/drinking up there is one«must do in the summer» Reno thing especially at sunset time. It was a hot day but it seemed that luck was on our side when the clouds rolled in and provided extra shade. The rooftop has tons of shade covers too. Paul S. put together another great event that included a brewery tour so we could get a little bit of an education while we imbibed. The tour was a bit hot, but it was a hot day and we were inside of a working brewery. I love learning about how these local breweries work and where they distribute. We ordered the berry ale. It’s not a cider so it was sweet but wasn’t too sweet. Nice, light and refreshing on a hot day. Appetizers are always a favorite here. The crispy chicken potstickers and the two different sweet and spicy dipping sauces are among my favorite in town. We also shared onion rings and shrimp cakes. The beer battered onion rings were large, piping hot and seasoned well. The panko shrimp cakes had a yummy basil sauce drizzled over along with the most delicious corn salsa with fresh corn. I could have eaten the garnishes by themselves. Our server Aspen was very sweet and handled two large tables of Unilocalers with expert efficiency and a constant smile. The atmosphere here is tough to beat. Overlooking thriving mid-town Reno with a view of Peavine and Mt Rose it’s an interesting combination of people watching and sunset mountain nature viewing. Bring in some great food, great beer and great people it proves that Paul S. knows how to throw a party. Check out his next UYE beer event if you can! He’s got some really great ones coming up ;)

July 30, 2015 Thursday — 5:30PM for beer and dinner A bunch of Unilocalers Atmosphere — 5 stars Food — 4 ½ stars Service — 5 stars Background — Hosting another UYE Beer Club. Atmosphere — I thought the roof top would be a beautiful location. Okay it is but when I arrived my car said it was 100 degrees. The clouds did roll in to provide some relief. Food Drinks — I had their Minnie PA and the Porter today. But the best part of the beer night was taking beer from the kegs. Sam allowed us to take a sample from the tank. The red was close to being done while the other was only a day into fermentation. I have to say that was a unique experience I have never had. Very carbonation and thick, I want to say beer but it was not beer yet. Dinner — I had the Southwest Salad with Chicken added. The chicken was over cooked but was season well, and it was not hot. I am not a fan of hot food onto of my salad. Service — Aspen our waitress was awesome working both tables. Sam was the brewer that provided the tour. This is a small operation and that room was extremely hot. Standing in one spot you can see the whole operation and most people that is all they needed. So going back to the rooftop was a break from the heat. Future — Oh yeah.
