Great conversion from a house to a bar. Tasty craft cocktails and craft brews served. A number of big grills and smokers out front are free to use if you bring the meat, etc.

Holy schnikes! What a fun place! Pignic has great beer(ever changing), BBQ’s for personal use(they only ask you buy a drink or two), plenty of outdoor space with a patio, and is great for events or parties. The grill guys are great, they set everything up for you then bring you a box of grilling and eating utensils. They have some meat & other grill items you can purchase, but it’s cheaper to bring you own. The paper towels, spices, etc. are by the fridge at the end of the bar btw, enjoy!

This is the best concept I’ve seen in Reno in a long long time. It’s well run and the cocktail list is always fresh and new. The best part is picking up a steak from the Co-Op and jumping on a grill while live music is pumping.

So it’s a grill your own meat joint at first blush for me! Since I don’t know how to use a gas grill Pignic is not top of mind for me when going out but wait there’s more. On January 31 I attended my 2ndPOP-UP dinner @ Pignic. OINK is an adventure in all things snouted and curly tailed. Chef Araceli is the manager and catering manager of Wedge Cheese Shop in the Midtown District. (Snack) Chicharones Sampler — No really my thing but the Lime Chili flavor was addictive! (1st) Speck Wrapped Seared Scallops w/Bacon Fat Dijou Aioli. Lardo Crostini w/Cherry Tomato & Spinach. — Perfect bite to start of the meal! Beverage: Dourthe Sauvignon Blanc — I’m not really into whites and I traditionally dislike Sauvignon Blanc but it paired wonderfully with dish. (2nd) Braised Pork Shoulder in a Truffle Butter Sauce and Fried Sage. Served over Tagliatelle. — Hearty & rich … I would’ve enjoyed a veg to cut the richness but since I ate it all short of licking my plate I’m not really complaining. Beverage: Tahoe Mountain Bierre De Guarde — Ok I hate beer but this one could make me a beer drinker! Not that I need another boozy beverage option in my life! (3rd) Seared Pork Belly served over Tartiflette with Pea Shoots and Berry Reduction. Bravo! for serving Pork Belly without it being overly fatty. The potatoes(Tartiflette) were velvety soft. The Berry Reduction cut the richness perfectly creating a complete and well balanced dish! Beverage: Bacon Washed Crater Lake Rye Boysenberry Jam Sour I thought I OD-ed of sours in the 80s but this sours can put sours back on menus! (4th) Cheese & Sweets Flight with Bacon Marmalade & Bacon Chocolate. All the cheeses were lush… I’m not a fan of blue cheese but pair it with the bacon marmalade — it might just be part of my death row meal(aka last meal on earth) but I would also have the Maple Bacon Topped Blonde with manchego(I think that was the cheese) marvelous! The bacon jalapeño bon bon had good taste but the mouth feel didn’t work for me. Not sure what the cheese was but in this case the cheese stood alone and it was good! Beverage: Gotes Del Priorat Bold red not necessarily a dessert wine but a nice way to end the meal. The good: –Pop ups about 5Xs per year & based on the last one it’s reasonably priced: $ 45 Flat(tax + tip are included) –Retro cocktails with a local spirits and seasonal flavors. –Über friendly staff! –During non-pop up times… They have meats on hand or the COOP is just across the street so you can get your grill on. –Varied outdoor seating options(weather permitting) — a deck, a fire pit, porch seating, garden seating, grill viewing seating, etc. –PIGNICPUNCH… that’s all I’m saying!!! –Large chalkboard of beer offerings. –Nice wines. The not so good: –The indoor space is very intimate, at bit small for oversold POPUPS. But foodies are good peeps so we worked it out. -@POPUP keeps your menu handy the servers don’t always have all the details but they are like salmon swimming ups stream – just trying to get the F&B served! They will find out for you but it’s easier on everyone to read the menu. –I don’t know how to grill, the POP UPs are great but I would love a «how to grill 101 lesson»…they may offer this but I don’t know! Hopefully I will get to another POPUP but I will arrive early and score a seat at the bar! I must remember to do cocktails at the fire pit! Maybe one day I’ll be brave enough to grab a pack of hot dogs and figure out the grilling situation! Plus they have an healthy cocktail menu that screams to be explored!

My friend and I stopped here before we got ready for the Santa Pub Crawl in hopes of having BBQ. We were told that they don’t serve BBQ, but we could order pizza from Noble Pie(same owner for both locations) and have it delivered. I was a little confused based off the Unilocal reviews, but pizza and cocktails sounded good too, so my friend and I decided to stay. I ordered the Fortnight Toddy and the second drink was bartender’s choice. Both were delicious! My friend and I were both glad we came here. The bar itself and the owner are super cool and I will definitely be back the next time I am in Reno

What a fun, comfortable hangout! Not just a bar or a food place. It is a hangout spot! The bar is staffed with knowledgable people that genuinely enjoy their job! Taking with everyone and suggesting something different with no hesitation when asked. The bar has a large draft selection and lots of specialty alcohol. Check out the specialty drinks! Buy your meat there or bring your own to bbque on the grills outside. Tri tip already marinated for only $ 8. A big piece that went fabulous with corn on cob and sausages! Enjoy your friends or make more. Sitting by the fire and roasting marshmallows and making snores is the perfect way to unwind any day!

This place is amazing! We went for the first time tonight to celebrate my sisters birthday and we had the whole family from ages 10 weeks to 60! We brought our own sides, tri tip, Buck and venison and they provided the cooking space, the plates and utensils! They even cleaned up! It really felt like hanging out on the family porch. Jason was one of the staff and was so warming and really made us feel welcome and at home! The drinks were amazing and reasonably priced, if you get a chance to do a shotski its a blast! This will be one of our go to local places hands down!

Here for Chef Sterns pop-up dinner. Dinner was excellent. Only thing that would have made it better is if they could actually have served it hot. A restaurant without a real kitchen is unique and I look forward to going back for BBQ. Also planning to go to Chef Stern’s Restsurant — Centro Besides 20 beers on tap p, bartender and part owner, Trevor, has created a unique menu of mixed drinks. Standard drinks available as well. Plan on going back soon.

I did not know what to think when I initially heard the concept for Pignic. It sounded cool, but I wasn’t sure it would really take off and succeed, especially with Reno-ites being as finicky as they are sometimes. But, I love Trevor, Ryan and all the gang of fun-loving bartenders that make Pignic a super fun place to get a luscious libation! Lots of seating choices… at the bar, the back deck, a community table on the patio, around the firepit, little tables out front, or various tables inside. The variety seems to be no less for the choice of grills, too! Bring your own meat or purchase from the cooler there. They provide all the tools you need, the dishes, and the clean up. You can catch a game on any one of their four tv’s or get your game on playing shuffleboard. Be sure to «like» their Facebook page and stay in the know with all the events and happenings like Champagne & Cinema, Pop-ups, family-friendly festivities, and much more! And come by for their happy hour, too! We can grab a drink and«cheers» this fab venue for hanging out with friends!

Attended another wonderful Pop Up tonight here with Chef Stern from Centro. I love Chef’s sense of humor and the menu of Breakfast for Dinner, so in honor I wore my Jammies to the dinner. Chef Stern and Trevor worked together to create a tasty menu of breakfast treats and drinks. Amuse bouche of deviled quail eggs and steak & eggs(crostini with carpaccio beef and salmon roe) were passed around while everyone arrived. First course was Benedict alaCentro– fluffy egg whites, gnocchi, crispy pancetta and Parmesan hollandaise with salt cured duck yolk shaved on top. Wow and yummy, paired with magpie coffee, bourbon, and salted caramel angostura cream– my favorite drink of the evening. Next was a deconstructed breakfast burrito made from egg stuffed wontons, sage pico and a cranberry bean purée paired with a chili vodka and modelo especial. Third course was not my grandma’s biscuits and gravy– a puff pastry vol au vant topped with a mushroom and basque chorizo gravy. Sorry grandma, it was delish. It was paired with a grand Classico liqueur, blood orange and prosecco. Finally, comes dessert– French toast soufflé, oh yea. There’s just no way to describe all of its yummyness and texture, you should have came. It’s drink companion was chicory coffee liqueur, raspberry liqueur, cold pressed coffee and cream. Wonderful meal as usual Trevor and Ryan. Thanks so much for having all these different chef over to cook outside their box. Shame on you for missing another fabulous event

There’s something about that feeling you get when you’re gearing up to head over to a friends house for a bbq. Prepping the food, grabbing the beer, and loading the car, all in anticipation of the moment you’ll walk in the door and be greeted by your friends. That’s the feeling I get when walking into Pignic. The idea the owners had to remodel an old home and convert it into a community grill yard is unique and exciting. Walking up to the front door through the courtyard is unmistakably like walking into a friends home, and that sets the tone for the visit. The house is filled with warm wood, vintage photos and sports memorabilia, period furniture and even some tunes reminiscent of the heyday. The«living room» is a comfortable seating area with the only true modern convenience in sight being the big flatscreen for watching the game. The bar is long, with a custom made tap tower at the back where they serve up to 20 craft beers at a time. The craft cocktail menu features house made syrups and shrubs, and clever combinations of fruit and herbs. There’s a nod to the classics for sure, but modern twists are around every corner. The grill yard is an area I have explored but haven’t experienced yet. The equipment, which includes Big Green Eggs, Tragers, kitchenettes with refrigeration and electric burners, and more, is TOPNOTCH and will definitely be a lot of fun to cook on in the future, and there’s a big patio deck out back with plenty of seating too. Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall, all you’ve gotta do is call, and I’ll be there to BBQ or just grab a drink with you. Pignic is a comfortable spot to get a great cocktail or beer, and if you’re feeling up to it, a place you can eat something delicious along with it. I’m sure this is going to be a great addition to our community that people will be frequenting in the near future.

Pignic is a bar. Get that? It’s a bar with televisions to watch and couches to relax upon and patio seating with fire pits to congregate around. It’s a bar. Don’t forget that fact inside of all the other dressings. Dressings like a bunch of different grills to be used by customers to grill up their own meats or veggies. Dressings like supplied utensils and the washing of said utensils. Dressings like sides and some free condiments being available for your meal. These dressings are what make this bar something special… something Reno or maybe anywhere has ever seen. Have you ever been sitting in a restaurant and someone, either with you or near you, says, «I could grill that better!» Well, Pignic let’s those complainers put their money where their mouth is. Literally. Because here, when it’s over cooked, you have no one to blame but you. And hey! Everyone loves hot dog jerky, right? Having never set foot into a frat house, this is what I would picture a postgraduate frat house to look like. A frat house full of PhD applicants. Mostly original fixtures and décor fill the place with woods and plaster looking walls from a long gone era in home building. An era with more character and craftsmanship than can be had today. This of course isn’t to imply that anything looks or feels worn and dated. Those«PhD candidates» don’t like their place to look like crap. It’s more than a step up from a college bar. And the prices show it. There’s no $ 1 shots or $$ drink til you puke specials. Craft is behind the bar, both on the taps and in the cocktail shakers. I’m not a beer fan so I can only tell you that the cocktails are classic in style and service. My favorite is the Clark, a perfectly balanced drink that is neither cloying nor overtly high octane. One word of caution, copper mugs are visible all about the bar. Don’t let that fool you into thinking your mule will be in one. Both of mine have come in glass. Not necessarily a negative just a heads up. The crowd here is understandably male dominant. Grills, TVs, and a lack of mixer/sugar focused drinks seems to be the reason. And the age skews upper twenties to early forties. Not to say that there aren’t women, but the times I have been, the guys outnumber the girls probably 2 – 1 at best. I guess the irony here is that this meat focused place with mostly guys isn’t really a «meat market» at all. The majority of inter gender interactions I’ve seen seem to be within the constructs of established relationships. I don’t see this as a potential hook up bar, tinder aside. For me, this whole place is an amazing concept. Something finally out of the box that seems to be working so far. Busy bar and busy patio. Like block party meets great cocktails. And I look forward to what the mad genius creators of Pignic have up their sleeves next! Will they figure out how to get game viewing to the cooks on the patio? What kinds of special nights will they do?
