I came here to study, which was a little hard to do(moderate– excessive noise level). This location and the one in Sparks is like a blast from the past(in the Grease movie era), which isn’t a bad thing. Though being from CA where everything is constantly renovated, it’s different and quite a shock to walk into what feels like a old film from the early-mid 1900’s. But, a library is a library.

The library is lost to my generation, but I’ve learned as the library catches up and uses technology, it can be great. I have been utilizing washoe county library’s site for about 6 months now. I search for a book I want, put it on hold and then get an email when it’s ready. I run in, grab it from the hold book shelf, and I’m out of there, quick and easy. That goes for every book — whether it has to be sent over from a different branch or is avaliable at Sierra View. The other day I returned a book a day late, but when I checked a couple of days later, it still showed not turned in and I was aquiring fees pretty quick. I called the library, they found the book, and waived all my fees(even the .25 that was my fault). I’ve never had to deal with the customer service aspect of the library, but they sure earned an A+. So, in conclusion kiddos — the library is cray cray cool and you should totally use it. and such.

This isn’t specifically on this branch even though this is the closest one to me. I owe a ton of money(as in $ 1.50). I signed up to hear when I’m due via text message, but I never have received a single text from them… They don’t have the most recent CDs or books either.

Neat little library branch that seems like it doesn’t get much traffic … probably because it’s hidden in the back of the Reno Town Mall(complete with garish 80s-esque neon sign out front.) Lifesaver for a couple days while I waited on Charter to hook me up with interbutts … their wifi is completely open without needing a library card or guest pass(though of course this also means totally unsecured, so probably don’t log into anything you don’t want hacked). One downside — limited seating and not much in the way of power outlets near the seats. They also have a separate book sale room that’s surprisingly huge(size of a small bookstore) and has an interesting selection. Specialties are a lot of Nevada and general western history books, and apparently all the unwanted VHS tapes in the world gravitate here to be sold for 50 cents each or so.
