They’ve raised their prices on the regular beef taco 2 – 3 times in the last year or two. They are now $ 1.49 for a beef crispy taco. I can no longer recommend Taco John’s as a good value, which was really their main selling point. Avoid Taco John’s except on Taco Tuesdays.

To my knowledge this is the only Taco Johns in Reno or Sparks, anyways I grew up around this area and Taco Johns was always better than the other fast food places where you could get tacos. The tacos here have a very distinct flavor but they are pretty good and the Potato Olé’s are a classic you have to try them, personally I like them without the nacho cheese. The inside is clean which is a biggie for me and the staff has always been friendly Sure the Potato Olé’s can be salty but thats part of the flavor, if they didnt have any salt people would complain that they werent salty enough Anyways stop by taco johns and they have a taco tuesday by the way

I’ve had several items from the menu, and honestly, I’m not overly excited about them. The potato olé’ are VERY salty, even if you ask for light salt. I understand there is seasoning with the salt, but just too much salt for me period. Most of the flavors on their tacos tend to blend in, or tend to look hastily put together. I’ve had the walking taco, and fritos in a bag with taco fixings was a surpris, and not so much in a good way. Once I shook up the bag, it was ok. The salsa bar is very limited, and if you don’t pay attention, the labels can cause a mislead on what’s spicy or not. There is really nothing that stands out as what would be an «extrodinary» dish/meal. This is a fast food joint despite what is trying to be accomplished. The place is clean and the cashiers are usually friendly. Also, the manager will no honor mobile or text coupons that are sent from Taco John corporation, even though they are designed to be given to cashier to be put in manually. I’m just not so impressed that I’d go out of my way to eat there.

Taco John’s is my favorite. I have family in Nebraska, and when I go to visit, Taco John’s is really all I want to eat. I would rather have Taco John’s than my mother’s cooking. I drove about 4 hours from the Bay Area to visit this Taco John’s…I had to sucker my boyfriend into this trip… convincing him we should go to gamble and see the sights that Reno has to offer. But really, all I wanted was the Taco John’s. I always get the burrito with the potato olé’s, and potato olé’s as a side. Don’t forget the potato olé’s…they’re the best part. Unfortunately on this visit, they were COVERED in salt… as in basically inedible. Now my boyfriend refuses to go back to Taco John’s because he doesn’t like potato olé’s because they are just salty. and I can’t even blame him. They were just terrible. I wish it had been like«home».

We drive to Reno from Sacramento for this restaurant. We love this place. It is always clean and the food is always fresh. The fresh salsa bar has a green salsa that is super hot and delicious. We take some home to have on our burritos, potatoes or even in a crock pot white chili. There are a lot of items to choose from.

This Mexican fast food place is pretty consistent in my experience. Hot foods are served hot. Condiments are provided. Orders are accurate. Staff always seem cheerful. Breakfast is available, with a selection of breakfast burritos and a scramble bowl. You can sit inside or you can take advantage of the drive through. Prices are terrific.

I’m not a big fan of Mexican chain restaurants, but I am a big quesadilla fiend, so with that said, I just have to say, this place changed their quesadilla. It used to be this rather odd, bitter cheese, but tonight, I found them open past 10PM and ordered a «cheesy» quesadilla. Now, the fact that they call it «cheesy» makes me wonder if it’s real cheese. Some candy bars say they’re «chocolatey» because legally they’re not really chocolate. But who knows. All I have to say is that their cheesy quesadilla is awesome. It’s like melted nacho cheese sauce inside grilled tortillas. Okay, maybe I’m just drunk, but go try it yourself. Update: I went back for their potato olé’s which are exactly like what Burger King uses instead of hash browns. They also have new Mexi-rolls which are like mini 7 – 11 taquitos and ghost pepper wings minus bones. Well, it made me sick the next morning. I don’t know how these guys, Taco Bell, and Jimboy’s stay in business. They all give me diarrhea.

It was my first time here and it was a nice experience. The food there wasn’t bad. The taco burrito is a lot smaller than you would think it would be but it was still good and the potatoes with the cheese were amazing! Also, random but the bathroom was very clean which is hard to find in fast food so I give it 4. Also the employees were nice which helped too.

Sometimes I eat here and it’s a 3, sometimes a 5, but most often it’s 4. The beef taco’s are great, and you can get them on special Tuesdays for .79 cents. I like to add tomato to mine, but grab jalapenos from the salsa bar, then plenty of the green SUPER hot salsa, lathered on. PROPER! The potato olé’s are addictive, and they have this nacho cheese sauce, that’s probably 1% cheese, but there’s something grand about it, so I do it eat, just not often. They have breakfast burritos which are good, but they use liquid egg, but the bacon is solid. Today I tried the Potato Olé scrambler, regular size, it filled up this Dragon! The chicken tacos there are great too, soft or hard shelled.

Taco John’s March 18, 2011 Friday — Dinner 5:30PM 3 people(2 kids and me) Atmosphere — 5 stars Food — 5 stars Service — 5 stars Background — Sad but true Taco John’s was my introduction to Mexican food. Living in North Dakota there was not much of a choice. This was way before Taco Bell went national, placing a restaurant on every block. As a kid they would give you a free taco, hard or soft shell, for every A you received on your report card. So my friend invited me to go, so I went and we each gorged ourselves having 6 free soft shell tacos. I was hooked, and now I can not get enough Mexican food. Living in Reno now and I am loving it! So Taco John’s always will have a special place in my heart and stomach. Atmosphere — A building that is just a few years old. Their old build was adjacent in the same small lot; it is gone now and good riddance. The new place is vivid with color. It has a salsa bar which you gotta love and self-service pop machine, yes pop not soda. Food Appetizer — Really it is fast food is there really time for that. Main Course — So once I find something I really enjoy I stick with it. So yep soft tacos, beef of course since when I was in junior high they did not have chicken. I do not order six like I did then, only two. Then the side dish is best reason to go to Taco John’s is their potato olés, which are potato crowns(small tater tots) with a special seasoning salt, I can not stop eating those. Curse you girlfriend, she got me addicted to dipping them in sour cream. Dessert — sorry I just do not see this place a dessert place, so I never order any here. I noticed they had a few on the menu while seated but I was unable to read them. But the table«tent» shows they have Churros. Service — Excellent service as some of the staff was getting out of working and joking created a very fun environment. They take your name after you place your order so they call you up. Instead they delivered to my table; maybe I missed them calling it since the girls were having too much fun.
